Demonise Celtic and fawn SFA Ogilvie

898

You’re victim of a costly refereeing failure, what do you do?  Celtic wrote to the SFA for clarification.    There was no demand for censure of the officials or a ban for the Inverness player.

In 2011, when the SFA were victim of a costly refereeing error against Czech Republic, Association president, Campbell Ogilvie, took it upon himself to write to Uefa demanding the referee who failed to correctly interpret a penalty incident, be marked down, and that the player who dived is excluded from the remainder of the competition.  The Daily Record glowingly reported the actions here.

The SFA set a precedent: after being hard done by, demand action against the referee.  Don’t just let supervisory processes take their course.  This is the standard set by Campbell Ogilvie.

“An SFA spokesman” also made it his business to brief a grateful media on the actions of Mr Ogilvie.  This was a coordinated campaign by the SFA against a match official, as well as an attempt to circumvent process.

Is this fair enough?  Well, I don’t remember an outcry at the time.  A referee made a bad mistake in an important game.  Standards should have been higher.  The SFA would have been within their rights to say so, although they had no business trying to influence referee supervisory processes.  If only we had a competent administrator who would realise this.

Celtic are within their rights to say standards should be higher now and instead of trying to mislead by suggesting no one in the ground was convinced Celtic should have had a penalty, the SFA should acknowledge that standards can and must improve.

Saying that would shut Celtic up and give them nothing to MORE complain about.  Instead of being concerned by the actions of SFA referee chief Fleming.

What you will note is the utter contempt shown for your club by many for writing a letter asking for clarification, even from those who lauded Campbell Ogilvie for demanding a referee is demoted.  Celtic are the last superpower standing after the Long Cold War, but we’ll always be the enemy to some.  We may well win the next 30 league titles, but as long as Campbell ‘What school did you go to?’ Ogilvie is in charge at Hampden, you’ll know what we’re up against.

Great three points last night.  Particularly delighted for Gary Mackay-Steven.  He, and Stuart Armstrong, are still finding their feet at Celtic.  It will be next season before we see the best of them (think Stefan Johansen circa April 2014), but the early signs are encouraging.

Big Virgil had a better record from free kicks than we had from penalties a couple of seasons ago!

It’s at times like this I wish I was back in scotland, where I could get involved, it pains me to see what is happening and it pains me more that we are doing little to stop it.

AS for the suits, they see things for a totally different perspective that we do, money first and foremost is the overriding factor to them, we need to use this to force them to come around to our way of thinking, it’s not as if we are asking for any unfair advantage, just a level playing field, no more, no less.

A timely reminder of another incompetent refereeing decision. Bobby Lennox scores an equalising/winner with the goalkeeper and a player on the goal in front of him and ref disallows goal for offside. If I remember rightly ref admitted he was wrong next day. Victory would have seen us play Borussia Dortmund, Sigi Held und Lothar Emmerich et al in the final at Hampden. Thank goodness Dortmund won.

Will Celtic ask the simple question, was the audio from the mics used by officials on Sunday recorded for training purposes by the referees committee?

I don’t think I am now, I think the lass is getting the bus from Alicante to Baza, it’s only 15 mins for us instead of 2 1/2 hours, but that may well change, depends on what time her flight gets in at, and if the busses are compatable, the Mrs has just informed me that we are taking her back for sure, so will be there deffo at some point in the mid ish of May, will need to check the dates and get back to you.

  9. Hi CQN’rs

    Sorry for long post.

My good friends fro Cumbernauld were over here in Malta to see us for a few days culminating in Watching the Bhoys beating Dundee last night.A Hibernian friend of mine was on Facebook to me and my wife(Ps good guy)he posted about Josh Meekings getting a reprieve.next thing a Hibby comes on and says Celtic fans will be pleased-cue calls for conspiracy!.told Hibees I know that it was not Celtic FC fault about the boy.

Reply Oh come on,it was a light hearted jest of a comment?.

Who ever said Hibees are on our side forget it.

  10. BBC on its site are still peddling the lie that we wrote asking why Meekings was not dismissed and a penalty awarded? Can we not seek proper redress for this total misrepresentation?

When should we expect to receive a reply from the SFA to the letter that we did write?

Because of timings of games, I was seriously tempted not to renew my ST; not any more. We are faced with blatant injustice. Celtic needs the support of every one of us because it is every one of us who is being cheated. Those days must be put behind us. Never again.

“I’m not sure how anyone could come to that conclusion.

This is what the FIFA Laws of the Game says:……..

Well I guess it was badly phrased, my point was no matter what Josh Meeking intentions were and whether the movement was instinctive or not the fact remains…

It was a clear hand ball and prevented a goal so a penalty and a red card should have been the outcome.

Of course in the FIFA rules what exactly constitutes a deliberate hand ball? And where it gets more interesting is why did the SFA CO charge JM with a “deliberate” hand ball? Was it to put the offence into the “wanton” bracket and therefore more suitable to come under the CO”s scrutiny.

Or would that that be the terminology used in all cases where a charge was brought?

    Hail Hail

  12. What we all witnessed on Sunday was a bent ref at work(again). What we have all seen since Sunday is a bent organisation at work(again). It is an absolute shame that Paul McBride is no longer with us.He would have nailed them, one and all.

Just get that title bagged Celtic,as soon as possible.

  13. Anybody watching Fiorentina game .Blatent hand ball…goal scoring oppertunity denied…Sending off offence…Nothing given…

Correct,no question about it,just as you said earlier about the Dougie Dougie saga the Ref tried to control all the stories.Somebody will talk, its such a screw up not even close to marginal.

Once Celtic receive the Official reply is the time for forensic analysis,is this a Rubicon moment for our Low Key Chairman, and PL. to shake the tree.
