Demonise Celtic and fawn SFA Ogilvie

898

You’re victim of a costly refereeing failure, what do you do?  Celtic wrote to the SFA for clarification.    There was no demand for censure of the officials or a ban for the Inverness player.

In 2011, when the SFA were victim of a costly refereeing error against Czech Republic, Association president, Campbell Ogilvie, took it upon himself to write to Uefa demanding the referee who failed to correctly interpret a penalty incident, be marked down, and that the player who dived is excluded from the remainder of the competition.  The Daily Record glowingly reported the actions here.

The SFA set a precedent: after being hard done by, demand action against the referee.  Don’t just let supervisory processes take their course.  This is the standard set by Campbell Ogilvie.

“An SFA spokesman” also made it his business to brief a grateful media on the actions of Mr Ogilvie.  This was a coordinated campaign by the SFA against a match official, as well as an attempt to circumvent process.

Is this fair enough?  Well, I don’t remember an outcry at the time.  A referee made a bad mistake in an important game.  Standards should have been higher.  The SFA would have been within their rights to say so, although they had no business trying to influence referee supervisory processes.  If only we had a competent administrator who would realise this.

Celtic are within their rights to say standards should be higher now and instead of trying to mislead by suggesting no one in the ground was convinced Celtic should have had a penalty, the SFA should acknowledge that standards can and must improve.

Saying that would shut Celtic up and give them nothing to MORE complain about.  Instead of being concerned by the actions of SFA referee chief Fleming.

What you will note is the utter contempt shown for your club by many for writing a letter asking for clarification, even from those who lauded Campbell Ogilvie for demanding a referee is demoted.  Celtic are the last superpower standing after the Long Cold War, but we’ll always be the enemy to some.  We may well win the next 30 league titles, but as long as Campbell ‘What school did you go to?’ Ogilvie is in charge at Hampden, you’ll know what we’re up against.

Great three points last night.  Particularly delighted for Gary Mackay-Steven.  He, and Stuart Armstrong, are still finding their feet at Celtic.  It will be next season before we see the best of them (think Stefan Johansen circa April 2014), but the early signs are encouraging.

Big Virgil had a better record from free kicks than we had from penalties a couple of seasons ago!

Can I just remind all, another thing in relation to that Ref on Sunday

There was a foul against Scott Brown in the 2nd half

He waved play on, giving Scott the opportunity of taking advantage

Scott was fouled again, but broke Free, and was in the clear

At this stage, that Ref, decided Scott shouldn’t have advantage, pulled play back and gave Celtic a free kick

Blatantly stopping an advantage given to stop us breaking up the park

Can we ask why he made that decision ?

  6. ‘the BBC understands that the panel considered that the officials made an honest mistake so granted the appeal and overturned the ban’

If true, this is the worst of the lot. Can all other disciplinary matters be put down to honest mistakes whenever suits? It’s not the job of the panel to device whether the referee was honest or not. It’s their job to apply the rules of the game and follow due process.

Incompetence doesn’t do that SFA lot justice.

On a different note, I have watched the news of Karen Buckley from Cork. Does anyone think it would be a good idea to buy Karen a paving stone at Celtic Park?

  9. Interesting

Celtic have made an approach for Club Brugge defender Brandon Mechele, according to reports.

The 22-year-old has played in every minute of his club’s Europa League campaign and has become the first-choice central defender for the Belgian league leaders, and features in the Club Brugge starting line-up for their match against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk tonight.

The Scotsman claim that manager Ronny Deila is preparing to lose two key central defenders in the summer, with Virgil van Dijk receiving interest from English clubs and Jason Denayer set to return to parent club Manchester City, and has made Mechele his main transfer target.

It is believed that Celtic would need to pay Club Brugge a fee of £3m to capture Mechele.

  14. St Patricks day 1956 on

My season ticket will be automatically renewed and I look forward to supporting my team next season. However, I stopped going to away games, I will never step foot in Ibrokes again,Ever. I have not been to Hampden for a few years and doubt if I will again.

My last cup game at Celtic Park was v Raith Rovers mainly because of their chairman, Turnbull Hutton. RIP, a man who stood outside Hampden and told it like it was, especially to those in denial, that the SFA & Scottish Football was corrupt. The latest cheating and lies from the masons is just another in a long line of the corruption in our game. Many people say ” that is the most blatant I have ever saw “, I say it, we all say it, but really it is just the latest.

The Masonic referee on Sunday had a job to do and he did his job, namely, Halt the treble.

On this occasion though, McLean, Muir, and the rest made a total balls up, the evidence is there for all to see. The SFA have tied themselves up in knots trying to wriggle out of another farce. Meanwhile the compliant SMSM spin it in their usual way to ridicule Celtic Football Club. What the outcome of this will be, I don’t know, but this is the time Now. It is the time for our club to stand up for themselves, stand up for their supporters, stand up like the late Turnbull Hutton stood up, Tell them, they are corrupt. What can we do ?

Personally I would ban the hacks, we all know who they are, we don’t want them, we don’t need them. I would hope to have Celtic Park full for all our home games, boycott away cup games and stuff the SFA. How Campbell Ogilvie is still in charge, beats me.

Scottish Football is run by masons for the benefit of a team who self destructed, and are now a tribute act. They are truly hurting Huns, and they can’t hide it. You only had to look at the face of McLean shouting at VVD and his contempt towards the Celtic man. When / if Sevco return it will only get worse. For the sake of any future for Scottish Football we need to get rid the corrupt liars and cheats. Only then we could go back to supporting our team at other grounds to spread some much needed income to decent clubs trying to live within their means and hopefully improve the game as a whole.

Auldheid ok I am with you.

Right then so they have given an explanation for not punishing meekings. But that explanation is that Muir said head and the referee ignored his own eyesight. A classic honest mistake. But the decision says they got it wrong and the ref got it wrong so we are going to uphold the refs wrong decision.

And you are saying celtic should say okay to the explanation of what happenned ithe first place (which is patently nonsense) and be ok with the twisted logic that says its oka for the ref to make a wrong call and be proven wrong and we will uphold the referees wrong decision in the first place?

Ah we are down the rabbit hole now eh? All in the name of denying the obvious conspiracy.

    =========

    Nope wrong again.

I’m saying Celtic should ask for an explanation of how the decision was reached at the game at the time.

Is it that the assistant thought the ball hit the players head? Wrong but an explanation.

Is it that the Ref missed it altogether and had to rely on the assistant?

Not acceptable given refs position so what did the ref say that he saw?

If he saw .nothing then he is incompetent it’s his job to see what is clear to be seen.

What I’m saying is that what happened since the game is irrelevant and does not answer Celtic’s question.

The JP decision needs clarification as to why they, with a clear view and time to replay, thought it was not deliberate but that is not a question for Celtic to put as it is all clubs who could be effected by such an interpretation that could see more players using whatever reason the JP give for it not being deliberate.

    Sympathy cannot be one.
