Don’t book travel to Edinburgh, lobby for league merger

807

If you are missing your competitive football fix you’ll have devoured the fixture list this morning but it’s still over seven weeks until the first league game of the season, when the league flag will fly before we face Ross County (we will have played a Champions League qualifier five weeks from today).

Thereafter, due to the postponement of a home game to allow for a financially lucrative friendly, Celtic are on the road six times in nine league fixtures, so if our away form is anything like it was for much of last season, it’s likely we will be in the mix, instead of clear leaders, come the end of October.

After an absence of some time, Celtic have a local derby to look forward to.  They meet Partick Thistle at Firhill on 26th October with the return game at Celtic Park set for New Year’s Day.  We are scheduled for two trips to the Capital within a month but don’t go booking your flights for the Hearts game in September, just in case…..

Curious news today that Celtic director and BT chief executive, Ian Livingston, will leave the telecoms company after five years at the top to become Minister for Trade and Investment in the coalition government.  Livingston will serve from the House of Lords.  How about boosting the ailing Scottish football industry by lobbying for a merger with a neighbouring league?

Have you bought a ticket for Firday night’s Lions Roar event?  Join hundreds of Celtic fans and the Lisbon Lions to watch the Lisbon game and for a Q&A afterwards.

Zimmerman – 100% right about Bruce; a perfect example of what talent can do IF it’s combined with hard work, honesty, hard work, unity of purpose and more hard work.

Aspirant football teams should take note.

  2. Go on big phils team!!met him at lisbon airport before our champions league game v benfica a few years back, lovely guy..posed for a photo with four of us and gladly put a Celtic scarf on ..wished us good luck..later me met other tims in the bar and told them we met jene hackman lol

EDB – I am well; I was in Byres Road at lunchtime and I bumped into two old colleagues from the lab at the VLH.

They are both retired [b#st#rds] and of course looking years younger.

They tell me the hospital is pretty much run down now, which is a shame, as the lab provided a good service , and employed some good people, not least your cousin.

John is the only bhoy I know who was right from the very start about Lubo;when we signed him he said ‘he can play, I’ve seen him on ESPN’.

So he can pick a footballer, if not a racehorse.

“This is a view that I think will take on a momentum from new kids on the block like Jackie.”

Auldheid and Goggybhoy. They have the wrong photo on that article.

The person speaking is Jackie Mac SENIOR.

Not the current Dundee Utd manager.

I think you’re correct on the lab side of things, and probably other areas, but have to say Mrs EDB is getting excellent treatment in the area you’ll be aware of. Mostly supported from RAH and Beatson from a Consultant presence.

John’s dad is well up in years now. What a guy he was in younger years and has many a tale to tell through his following the greatest team in the world.

    Hope your family are well.

    Masty,

I am afraid pele does not have a good word for wee lionel…dismay rate him at all, better player than pundit methinks..

    Masty,

I agree, as Maradona said, “I think hes taking too much of his tablets”

  12. Mexico aren’t a bad team themselves, but Neymar is something else. If Mexico can stay in this then it’s shaping up to be a very good game of football.

I was lucky enough to remember the 1970 world cup and that great Brazilian side, pele deffo greatest ever in my book, but messi is right up there, don’t think he will ever get true legend status unless he lifts the world cup.

  14. SLIGO ROVERS have already sold 1,000 tickets for next month’s Champions League home game, even before the draw has been made.

Rovers will only learn their opponents in the qualifying round next Monday, but tickets went on sale to season ticket holders last night and in the first few hours, the initial allocation of 1,000 was sold out.

jeezo this is the 1st good look at this kid I have seen, even if its only 20 minutes, he sure is special.

  16. Pele comes across as a bitter old man who can’t say anything good about the Argentinian footballers who are/were better than him. They also did it in Europe when he only played in the Brazilian league which wasn’t of the highest standard. Great player but not as good as he is in his own mind.

I would be in the Maradona camp for greatest ever, but as you say if Messi could win a world cup, I may change my mind

greatest ever for me, then maradonna, followed by wee leo

  20. Remember when we signed Juarez, we were also heavily linked with Barrera who also operated down the right wing. Barrera ended up at West Ham for about 4.5m and is on the bench today, neither player faired well from their big move to UK.

On another topic, just noticed Hulk has got a really big ar$e, it’s like a shelf at the bottom of his back, you could rest your pint on it.
