Don’t limp home, omni-shamble contagion

696

There’s always a bit of trepidation before Celtic play a meaningless game, like they will do in Turkey tomorrow, the propensity to pick up injuries feels higher, although this is possibly not borne out by statistics.

Before Sunday the team look like they needed a break but no injuries, please.

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard allegations that some or other council are controlled by, and for the benefit of, an ethnic or religious minority.  This is an old-time prejudice, up there along with allegations of criminality or the personal hygiene habits of the minority.  But like Corporation buses, they come in groups.

Anyone can report Celtic for whatever they like, and believe me, many do.  Which is a great pity, as there are real targets worthy of attention elsewhere…..  For years, while others were buying football bling, Celtic were acquiring land, all appropriately, as is their borrowing.  More importantly, they have been able to establish all of this without question. Confirmed.

Just because one club was an omni-shambles doesn’t mean any others are.  Enjoy the laugh.

I’m thinking of setting up a petition to demand a full inquiry into the waste of taxpayers funds spent on administering spurious petitions.

  7. TET – no probs. Couple of pointers (althought too late for no1 maybe)…

    1. Have a look at your online competitors and note what works well/not well and add/discard from your own site. Don’t be afraid to steal all the good ideas you see! ;-)

    2. Home page/welcome page – this is the biggy. Get this looking right and potential buyers will want to go further and browse your products. What has your site got that others don’t? Your in the Andalucian Mountains for starters, get a big wowzer picture of them as your main graphic. Add in information about the quality of your goods and workmanship. How it’s sourced etc…

    3. Theme – although black can look good online, it’s a bugger if people try to print stuff off, either for future ref or to show others. Simple colour schemes work/print best.

    4. Start adding your menu links from your Home Page always ensuring that it is easy to get back to.

    5. Images – as you are selling a product with loads of options it is understandable that the images are quite small, however, make them `clickable/scaleable’ to allow the viewer to see them at a larger scale (shows off the quality too!)

    6. Back to work for me……….

TET- you’ve done most of the spade work mate. The above is just ideas for some tweaks that should be quite straightforward if you wanted to do them.

‘It still rankles that this year will see Parkhead benefit from the GCC driven Commonwealth games “investment in the East End”, which has for many, been a convenient vehicle to enhance the surroundings of Celtic Park, and Celtic’s stadium, and something that has been in Glasgow City Council’s planning for many years.

With Celtic Park being chosen for the Opening ceremony, where the Queen will sit within the centre of Irish Republicanism in Scotland where she is detested, it won’t be lost on many that hosting the Commonwealth Games is simply a convenient side show to GCCs objective of making Celtic Park a better place to be, and a far more attractive investment.

One of the transactions that the footballtaxhavens blog details is that of the sale of the former London Road Primary to Celtic, which has faced almost no opposition, given that the council closed the school several years ago, after knocking down all the flats that housed the families who used the school.

Hey presto, Celtic now get the building they have coveted for 30 years, and GCC get the land to build the Emirates arena, and for good measure, the area is ethnically cleansed of Protestants.’

  12. Just a thought, if the EU are looking into land deals involving Celtic would they look at the sale of a football stadium (previously valued at £120m) and a wee training facility in Milngavie for £5.5m.

Five weeks prior to a game of football, and the club has decided to close part of the ground, due to an apparent “lack of interest”.

    Five weeks like?

So people have to make their intentions clear with regards to attending games/concerts/events,at least six weeks in advance these days?

  15. From Joe O’Rourke

It was with great sadness that I heard the news that Richard Mc Kenna had passed away peacefully yesterday in San Francisco.

Glasgow Celtic has followers in every country in the world, and many of them reside in North America where they emigrated in great numbers in the sixties and seventies looking to make a better life for themselves and their families.

Richard was from Nitshill in Glasgow, he moved to San Francisco in 1969, he took with him his love of Celtic Football Club. He and his great friend Harry Conway were founder members of the San Francisco Celtic Supporters Club.

They would be present every week in The Fiddlers Green Pub to watch Celtic play, no matter what time of day or night; the members will be devastated by the news of his death.

Richard was instrumental in the San Francisco Club hosting two Celtic Supporters Conventions in the city; they brought the legacy of Brother Walfrid to North America by raising lots of money for worthy causes.

I had the pleasure of Richards’s company on a few occasions; he was a very pleasant and humble man, a man of great stature. A couple of years ago I arranged a visit to Lennoxtown for him and his nephew, we managed to get a photo of him with Lenny, the smile on his face was as wide as the Golden Gate Bridge.

Glasgow Celtic are a global phenomenon because of people like Richard, he took the all- inclusive and charitable ethics of Celtic and educated and encouraged the younger generation in his adopted country to live by those ethics.

Richard was a very active Celtic Supporter, he led from the front all the time, if there were jobs needing doing, then Richard would be first in the queue to volunteer. He attended the North American Convention every year, whether it was on Canada or Los Vegas; or his favourite venue; his home city of San Francisco.

Richard was a great member and supporter of the North American Federation of Celtic Supporters Clubs; he will be sadly missed by all their members and friends.

I would like to offer the condolences and deepest sympathy of everyone at the Celtic Supporters Association to Richards’s wife Marie, and to his son Richards Jnr, his daughters Kathleen and Marie-Claire, and his grandson Declan. In the words of Willie Maley “They never die who live in the hearts they leave behind”

Requiescat in pace Richard .. You’ll Never Walk Alone ..

16 Roads Reducing the capacity of Parkhead has been under discussion for some time and is very likely to become the norm for SPL games as well. There is no point in staffing the ground and all that goes with running a 60,000 seat stadium when you are getting less than 40,000 on a regular basis. It can be returned to 60,000 for European games if needed it is a sign of the times im afraid we are not attracting the supporters in the number we used to. H.H.

  20. Is it not amazing how quickly Douglas Fraser was able to confirm with EU Commission that they are “investigating” Celtic whilst after last years almost daily, Charlotte Fakeover, revelations of dodgy dealings and media manipulation by The Norwegian Blues they could not even be mentioned due to “legal” issues.

Really can feel the love from that organisation for Celtic. NOT.
