Duffy and need for central defender more than winger

476

A proposed swap deal with Blackburn with Shane Duffy coming to Glasgow and James Forrest heading south makes sense for Celtic. Late last season we were talking about how Erik Sviatchenko was our only solid central defender, with Jozo Simunovic injured and yet to establish himself.

Duffy made his Euro 16 debut in the 1-0 win over Italy, before being red carded for a professional foul against France. I’m not expecting a van Dijk, but his performances in both games was of the standard Celtic only have with Erik.

James Forrest grabbed the space vacated by Aiden McGeady’s move to CSKA Moscow and made the most of the opportunity but injury has inhibited him in recent years. He’s also suffered from being part of what looked like a World Record attempt of squeezing wingers into a 23-man squad. We need fewer wingers and at least one more central defender.

Brendan Rodgers comments that Kris Commons is nowhere near ready for the first team is not encouraging. I’d have him limp to the bench for the forthcoming qualifiers. Even unfit, he’s capable of linking play like no one else in the squad.

Celtic plc have a legal responsibility to the share price. Like it or lump it Celtic FC are part of the company, To argue anything different would give credence to der huns fantasies.

Kris Commons oh dearie me! Should never have had his contract renewed – Ronny never wanted him and rightly so! He was pressured into retaining KC but MOST certainly BR will not and in any case most fans have got over the KC fantasy! Not even a “fit” KC would be considered by BR – we are on a NEW and different mission now! KC will not be the only one surplus to requirements however dignity will prevail and the transition will be executed in a mannerly fashion – after all BR is a perfect gentleman but certainly no FOOL!

“Celtic plc have a legal responsibility to the share price”.

So why do they allow false claims, ,undermining the Celtic brand, such as Sevco claiming to be in pursuit of title 55, as Scotland’s most successful club, to go unchallenged?

    Whaddya mean “when it’s proved”?

Side letters were deliberately concealed, meaning players improperly registered, DOS already proved to be illegal.

Guilty of cheating for over 10 years at least, liquidated as a consequence of spending beyond the ability to pay their debts, but heralding the hunt for 55 while no one with clout raises a whimper of protest.

    Once bitten, twice shy.

As much as I wholeheartedly agree with you, we need a court of law to prove it beyond reasonable doubt.

Never fails to amaze me why supporters of Celtic like ourselves question the motives of Celtic plc/fc when they are legally obliged to act in the interests of sharholders, only that.

  8. Everyone, including my grumpy self, has fixated on Paul’s last paragraph re Kris Commons.

We have all ignored the news of a proposed deal with Jamsie headed south to Blackburn.

    A move I would applaud.

James just hasn’t produced the goods in the last season or so, and a move away from Scotlamd could be the making of him.

In the event the swap move doesn’t transpire,

For the remainder of his contract,

I would sit him on the bench.

    At the back.

I would relegate him to train with the development squad.

Let him know he is no longer considered a Celtic player.

Mo chara like it or lump it we’re different from the rest. I mean the majority. We want justice, most are just content with the circus to continue

  10. I think guys bothering themselves over Sevco & The Media & Title Claims should relax.

No matter what happens they will always claim to be the same Club, we will always know they’re not and deep down they will know we are right.

Life will go on and what will happen, will happen and getting upset & worried about it, is hurting no one but yourself.

Following a Club like Celtic should be a joy & an Honour. Of course there will be defeats & disappointing days & even seasons but that too is part of life.

If you don’t experience the bad times you won’t really appreciate the good times.

I can honestly say I never thought that in my lifetime Celtic would win 5 in arow, but they have and as the season progresses all will bother me is that 5 becomes 6.

At present however all concerns me is beating the Imps on Wed by at least 2 goals.

I don’t use sweary words normally and I tend to chide those who do but just this time I’ll risk a yellow card by saying clearly, I don’t give a Fuck about Sevco or what they say or do.

My focus is now and always will be about Celtic, if pain comes I’ll take it but Bhoy will I enjoy the good days.

Rant over, I’m off to bed Good Night & God Bless All.

As for Sevco . Having had their misplaced superiority thrust down our throats for years, respectfully I disagree. I want the whole world to know that they are a new club due to the lying, cheating , discriminatory and fraudulent nature of the old clubs existence.

My opinion is simple :- if they claim to be the old club, pay up or shut up.
