Dundee United 1-0 Celtic

258

Celtic were careless in possession throughout this game but it would be wrong to suggest it was a lackadaisical performance, if anything the champions were hurried in possession when a bit more composure and patience was required.

The Dundee United goal came as a result of poor defending.  United won a corner on Celtic’s right which was taken short before the cross came in.  Scott Robertson met the ball 7 yards from goal and placed a header into the corner of the net giving Fraser Forster no chance.

Celtic enjoyed the majority of possession throughout the game but failed to make anything of it before going behind, however, Kris Commons soon sparked into life.  On 29 minutes Gary Hooper knocked the ball down to Commons who fired in a shot which was deflected wide.

Commons then fed Hooper whose shot from 25 yards was spilled by Pernis in the United goal.  The final seconds of the first half should have led to a Celtic goal.  Commons’ shot from outside the box was saved by Pernis but United could not clear the chance and when the ball broke back to Commons he fired a cross along the six yard line which Anthony Stokes completely missed with an empty goal in front of him.

The second half was most notable for the procession of ineffective cross balls Celtic threw into the Dundee United box.  With Charlie Mulgrew playing in central defence his delivery from wide positions was badly missed.

Tony Watt replaced Stokes at half time and immediately stirred things up, forcing Pernis into a good save from a header soon after the break.  Within a minute he forced another save which Pernis could only parry.

While Mulgrew was missed on the wing he twice blocked shots which could have put United two ahead.  MacKay-Steven crossed for Jon Daly who was denied by Mulgrew while late in the game the Celtic defender halted a Jonny Russell effort.

Gary Hooper put Celtic’s best chance of the game inches wide after Kris Commons (again) linked play to set him up for a shot inside the box.

Well, if unpunishable & blatant fraud & corruption are to be openly touted as the way forward, where then are we going?

Is this just ‘the way it is’ now?

  10. It’s already a done deal. THEY will get a slap on the wrist and it will be business before.

  11. By god my love for this club will never die . But like others i cannot take part or support anything under the auspices of the SFA . They in my opinion have been involved in this since the wrong doing was uncovered a long time back . They have employed persons who knew about it way way back . It seems they will push through the rule changes ( rules thats a fine one ) to allow them to go about there business unhindered and unpunished . In effect the governance of scottish football will decide what we win and what we dont . The stage we are at now has been a racing cert from day one . They were never going to be allowed to die , but i did expect serious sanctions placed on them . I really didnt think the SFA would be so blatent in there desire to assist rangers in the biggest cover up in football history . I have followed alex thompson,s reports on this case, and i thank him for getting the truth out , for having the guts to take it on ,but so far his failure to take this scandal to a higher platform has been a disappointment to me . I would have loved a panarama type programme , a documentary putting the whole sorry business in front of the UK and hopefully beyond ,but nope just up here where they have more than enough support to poo poo the whole thing . I often wonder what the outcome of this would be if WEE FERGUS was still in charge , i wonder if his council was sought regards whats taking place, he always seemed to have the stomach for a fight . I also wonder if PAUL MCBRIDE would have had a part to play , we sorely miss him also . I also cant get my head round the statement from the kilmarnock chairman , He needs rangers in the spl . as he needs there income/ finance . will he not miss our income if as IMHO the celtic support refuse tickets for his place . unless they take significant more numbers to rugby park than we do . Please dont tell me that we are going to turn the other cheek as far as this gent goes, and are going to turn up en mass . did he not think that hey wait a minute, i can either suck up to the cheats , fill my stadium with orcs or i can have the stadium full of green and white tims . HE SURELY CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS CAN HE .

I would think wife beating would be one.

Alex Thompson is not a Celtic supporter. In his chosen line of work he has taken to a subject that deserves and demands wider recognition in the sporting world.

He is illuminating the corruption that exists in Scottish football.

UEFA MUST intercede as the footballing establishment in Scotland is either biased in favour of a corrupt institution or are afraid of the consequencies, harm and injury to individuals and their families, if they take the right and proper decisions and that is to remove RFC(IA) from the Scottish football map.

  15. Wait till to-morrow or whenever to hear which clubs favours the huns lthen punish them by not taken away tickets, and i will still renew my season ticket.thought big vic was awful this afternoon, izzys a good left back ,but not a good crosser of the ball.tony watt, dylan, good prospects also i thought lustig had a good game, but i hate to lose .and neil the penalty forget it you are only pandering to the media again ,for god sake give it a rest,

  16. To the Celtic Football Club why dont you send someone from the club to have talks with al jazeera tv station.about them showing all celtics home and away games i have learnt that they are going to be big players regarding live football games on the telly ,so if its a free market go on celtic give it at least a try.

  17. the missing millions on

Perhaps the delay is to get the first round of season renewals in? But what if a Scottish football wide campaign to withhold renewal money until newco is sunk got underway, the morally bankrupt chairmen may suddenly rediscover sporting integrity as a value.
