The events of this week will be scant consolation to the bereaved of Hillsborough, but it is nonetheless important that football paid appropriate respects, as fans and clubs across England did this weekend.
When Celtic offered to host Liverpool for their first game after the tragedy they took a step to demonstrate solidarity with the people of that city. In presenting a wreath on behalf of the Celtic Movement at Anfield today, Peter Lawwell carried on the spirit of that week.
It’s often the easy acts which are the most important.
Loved the Scottish Cup semi-finals. perfect result-performance combination which allowed Super Salary, Glib and Shameless, Newco and fans of every other club in Scottish football to take something from the first game.

Thanks.
Why have you not interviewed Hamilton Tim ?
A genuine Celtic fan who follows our club home and away
and a true ambassador for Celtic.
I would rather read HTs views on Celtic than a poster who
does nothing but criticise my club.

Kenny Dalglish is the most talented player ever to play for Celtic…..
Do not think you will get anybody or if you do there will be very very few.
I can think of two that immediately come to mind that would be in front of Dalglish…There are a few more as well that could be put forward as the most talented player ever to play for Celtic. I refrain from naming the two as it is all about opinions but Dalglish is not that Player. History already records who in the opinion of the Club and Supporters who were the most talented Players ever to play for Celtic.
Dalglish was one but not THE one.

Liverpool were my second team in the Shankly era. I lived in London on and off for some years and went to watch Arsenal in the FA cup against the newly promoted Liverpool. I was mightly impressed with Liverpool and their fans. They won 1-2 ,which was a shock but it was the style of play that grabbed me. Very continental and modern.the first british team to play like that? Then I maybe a season later I got offered a ticket for the FA cup final at Wembly when Liverpool won the cup for the first time against Leeds . I was also on the kop when they clinched the championship against? But they stopped us winning the cupwinners cup the year before Lisbon. I gradually began to lose interest in them. Being thrown into a cell in Liverpool for nothing when we played then in the ninties and being charged too was the end of my feelings for them.

Fair enough.
KD blotted his copy book by coming back and IMHO that where the revisionism is coming in. Additionally your observations of Dalglish playing for Celtic week in week out must have come from the perspective of a child. Dalglish played in an era when a two footed lunge from behind was not only permitted it meant you could become a dead club leg end. Dalglish when it comes to carrying Celtic was a sorcerer compared to Mc Stays apprentice. We still won things mainly due to Dalglish.I as always respect your opinions.
HH
Judge a man by his actions.
Gordon Smith- son Grant Smith – 19 clubs.
Kenny Dalgleish – son Paul Dalgleish -13 clubs.
Nepotism.?

You’re asking a guy who made up our major shareholders’ “hatred” of Celtic supporters, to make up what he knows about how the CEO operates and offer alternatives?
As I have said before, I hope you edit this article and ensure balance, and above all accuracy. Blogging is one thing, a published article in a Celtic Supporters magazine is something else entirely, imho.
Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised, but I doubt it.

I didn’t mention any of the Lions because I only remember seeing Bobby Lennox and that was at the end of his career.
OK for me, as a 56 year old the top 3 that I’ve seen playing for us are:
1. Larsson
2. Dalglish
3. Johnstone
I never saw Charlie Tully or Jimmy McGrory or Patsy Gallagher.
I’m also missing Lennox (my favourite), McGrain and McStay.
I’ve been so lucky to see so many great players.
G64
Very kind of you big fella but everyone knows I talk mince :-)
Bobby Lennox is up there with Lubo easily.
Does not affect my rankings however.
HH
Aye but it’s Celtic mince :-)

An example of your honesty but you do have Celtic at heart…for the record I too have to agree with you as well as G64…at times you do talk mince but not a lot…:)

Spot on in spades about Dalglish. Another reason for my scepticism – years ago when he was Liverpool manager the Celtic and Liverpool parties went to a do at Gleddoch. Everyone from both teams gave autographs to my eleven year old son. Everyone- that is – except the surly Dalglish.
1 Larsson
2 Johnstone
3 Dalglish
4 Murdoch
5 McGrain
Richie – it didn’t need editing at all. In fact although it is alternative it is not going to upset you I promise!
Re the posts you refer to this happened recently and after we commissioned the article. It was a Saturday night I believe so there may have been other factors at play!
Pat Nevin
Just watched his performance on Sportscene last night.
“I have seen matches all over Britain and Europe and that was one of the best”
Great demo for more work with Shortbread.
Willie Fernie,Joe McBride,Bobby Murdoch, and Danny McGrain, you can all argue about the rest, and of course Jinky

Your views on Celtic are critical
to what is happening.
I know you have serious reservations as to the
running of our club.
However they carry much more weight as you
are there week in week out.
And i trust any criticism would be without any agenda.
HH
If George Connolly could have sorted out his persnal issues then he would have been up there with the best

I accept that NA2 does many’s folks head in, if the truth be know, he does mine in as well at times, but the blog needs an alternative view sometimes.
One thing NA2 doesn’t do is crit the club, we, the support are the club.
He goes after the suits who run the club every chance he gets, just like some praise the suits every chance they get, balance.
I agree with you re HT.
You never did answer my question about the Alternative View.

I would say Dalglish is the best British player to have played in England in the last 50 years. Many will say George Best but his career was really over at 26.
If we include overseas players I would only have Thierry Henry ahead of Kenny.
Awe Naw
I loved McStay but even I would concede that Kenny was a better player.
You’re correct I was only 6 when he left in ’77 but I remembered being devastated when it happened. He really was an incredible footballer from what I’ve seen of his time at Celtic and his subsequent success at Anfield.
I always marvelled at the way he used a rather large posterior to turn opponents and create half a yard of space for himself.
However, from those that I’ve watched as Celts on a regular basis I would say that the two I mentioned were better.

,,,,,,,,,,
No that is what he said. He made a point of it.
The question had been asked at the start of the studio input and Dodds had said it was not one of the best games of the season but itv was a good game.
Five minutes later after the punditry Nevin has the last word and goes back to the first question with that statement.
Whilst they were actually playing for Celtic, I doubt very much if Henrik, Kenny, Danny , Jimmy, Bobby,Lubo,Paul et al were EVER hailed as being the great players they are now remembered as having been.
When enough years have passed, Fraser, Kris,Mikael, Virgil,Emilio and others will be considered immensely superior to whoever the then current players are.
” These are the good old days. Just you wait and see.”

Andy walkers a big tim eh?well he hides it very well.sorry that should be was a tim
My top 5 in my 46 years of going to CP
1. Jimmy Johnstone
2. Bobby Lennox
3. Kenny Dalglish
4. Danny McGrain
5. Henrik Larsson
Haud on…
We’re placing defender, midfielders and forwards in the same pot and asking who’s the best? WTF???
Best Celtic player ever was Packie Bonner, because he had a nice haircut.
KD was good Danny McGrain was better.
TET
Nope i do not read the alternative view.
I listen to all the nonsense in the Vogue bar
and i make up my own mind.
I love discussing Celtic and without it
i would have no conversation.
Apart from politics that is.
But you don’t want to go there.

Come on I’ve met you in perosn, you were born in 1971!
When did you start the paper round at 2 :)
Evening all.
Looking forward to next CQN mag as Aasmah Mir is a vocal Celticn supporter. It will be interesting to get the perspective of a prominent Asian tim who works for the biased BBC.
