The events of this week will be scant consolation to the bereaved of Hillsborough, but it is nonetheless important that football paid appropriate respects, as fans and clubs across England did this weekend.
When Celtic offered to host Liverpool for their first game after the tragedy they took a step to demonstrate solidarity with the people of that city. In presenting a wreath on behalf of the Celtic Movement at Anfield today, Peter Lawwell carried on the spirit of that week.
It’s often the easy acts which are the most important.
Loved the Scottish Cup semi-finals. perfect result-performance combination which allowed Super Salary, Glib and Shameless, Newco and fans of every other club in Scottish football to take something from the first game.

Fair comment.
I can only speak from personal experience
and from what i have heard from PN and your new guest poster
they have nothing positive to say about my club
and nothing that i already know.
Therefore i will not be reading it.

Kenny Dalglish is the most talented player ever to play for Celtic…..
His career proves this…..
——-
How, exactly?
Kenny dalgliesh was without doubt a world class footballer, but celtic legend? yer havin a Steffi…..happily left and went to the scousers (his career showed it to be the correct thing) but to this 14 year old it was the end of the world, as for the press releases in pubs and the way he hung john barnes out to dry a few short months after telling us all he was the up and coming young manager has left a taste in my mouth that will never leave, certainly no mcstay, johnstone, Murdoch, mcniel, Larsson and the like, in fact if you ask any football fan in the world, they will tell you hes is “Kenny dalgliesh of Liverpool”
HT
Medals and caps surely ?

Without fear of contradiction
Henrik was the finest football player
ever to wear the hoops.
He was eventually tempted in the twilight of his career
to sign for Barca where he won a Champions league medal.
And then at the end of his career Man Utd signed him
where he helped them win the league.
We saw the absolute best of of one the greatest football players ever.
The young Kenneth – look at those Hoops
Awe Naw
But at Liverpool he was surrounded by great players, they too played a significant role in the number of medals he won.
Paul McStay won little in comparison because for much of his career he was surrounded by dumplings.
Lubo won nothing before becoming a Celt.
Masty
If so,it says everything about the man.

as a player I have the upmost respect for the guy, but to me he aint no celtic legend,
HT
And he was better than all if them. He won most caps and was a Celtic player. He left because he was already Paul Mc Stay MK 0.
Dalglish was better than Henrik. As he was a better midfielder and as good as up front.
A lot of revisionist nonsense.
He won many medals for Celtic . 4 out of the 9iar.

Shank leu to Mr Stein, “John you are immortal “.
On Kenny Dal
Seem to remember that he lost a lot of money on a business deal -rumour was that he asked CFC to help him out but Dessie White said no!
As a player he was fantastic for us – no question !
As a football director he was poor -giving Barnes the gig was mental
As a manager -he won the LC but presided over the most abject surrender at Ibrokes !
Will always have some respect for him for the way he handled the aftermath of Hillsborough
On AW
Good player -poor pundit – seems to lap up the soup!
Remember the night we beat Stugart – our seats had been moved and we ended up in front of the Media
That was a great night -great game – great atmosphere from both sets of fans -all you could want from a night at the footie!
You wouldn’t think so from the faces of the assemble media types !
When someone shouted over to AW -in no way abusive or anything -just asking what he thought -AW turned his back on the support with a face like thunder!
Since that night I have had absolutely no time for him!
No doubt he is heart broken!

agree with you mo chara….
jinky quite rightly voted the greatest ever celt, and to me lubo was the most SKILLFU; player ever to grace the hoops, but henke WAS THE MAN..
I think Kenny Dalglish was a great player, by no means the best, for Celtic. That he then went on to Liverpool, to more money and better players, has never bothered me. Our team were not run properly at the time, imo, because the Board was dire. I wouldn’t be too surprised if they were happy to take the money for him and run.
I never wanted him (and Barnes) back as manager. I don’t think he ever recovered from Hillsborough.

Personally, I can never work out what you mean.
Were you out as an Addiscombe bhoy today?
As I have said many a time on here, the best Celtic player it has been my privilege to see is Bobby Murdoch. As Mr Stein said, when Bobby plays, Celtic plays. Says it all.
Gordon64
Fair enough but maybe we can tempt you with a great feature on Billy McNeill, or maybe exclusive extracts from Tommy Gemmell’s All the Best book or John Hughes’ Yogi Bare?
You might like the feature on Janefield Street, or the interview with Liam Brady about being Celtic manager, or maybe our interview with BBC broadcaster Aasmah Mir may interest you?
We have coverage of the 3 in a row Celts and there is extensive coverage of CQTEN including features from Doc and BRTH plus Paul writes about how much we raised for the kitchens in Malawi.
I am sneaking in two pages about that club dying in nine minutes the day their CVA was rejected – just to balance the re-writing of history and also because the truth hurts…
Plenty of other stuff too to either read or ignore!
What happened to the Kenny Dalglish money?
I do not often post but I feel I need to say my tuppence worth on the KD debate. To me he was one of the greatest players who played for Celtic. Along with Danny McGrain he was my childhood hero . He was included in the greatest 11 Celts that was voted by the fans in 2002. When he left I was heartbroken but if you look at his career with Liverpool he was justified, from memory in his first season he scored the winner in European cup final at Wembley against Brugue. He was not being paid the going rate for being one of the finest players of his generation, anyway the then Celtic board were probably happy to cash in on him. He only played one season less than Henrik. I would like to pose a question. If Henrik became our manager and he was unsuccessful, would we question his credentials as being a fans legend(don’t think so).I think Kenny should be remembered and idolised as a Celtic player in the same way that Jimmy Johnstone and Henrik Larsson are.
Kenny Dal. We enjoyed his talents as a player, but not so much as a manager. He may have supported Rangers as a kid, he may have played for Celtic first, but first and foremost he’s a Liverpool man. End of.

In my opinion Lubo and Henke were better.
Not revisionism but a differing opinion.
67H
Baldie 2 Pukki 5 goals or May 20 odd goals?? I rest my case.
Big Anton Rogan
slight difference being we got the best 7 years of henkes career…
Murdoch, Jinky, Kenny, Henk are inseperable. Could be better players before my time. Lubo close but his contribution to our history compared to those is negligible. Paul Mc Stay for his contribution and up their with Lubo with regards qaulity.
