Extra week training in July has huge impact

2173

I was concerned about a trip to Estonia after hearing Hearts struggle in their home leg against Estonian opponents last week, so news that Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps beat Flora Tallinn was welcome, although the concern was tempered as news arrived that Hearts were three goals up in the away leg.

The lesson here is that in July, one more week’s training has a huge impact on performance.

Brendan Rodgers will be happy with how training has progressed thus far, but it’s only when players put multiple 90 minutes under their belts that they are ready for competitive action. There’s not necessarily a great deal of work to do to overcome Red Imps (no offence intended), but qualifiers come thick and fast thereafter. Despite beating Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana yesterday, I expect Celtic will be more motivated for Saturday’s game against Maribor.

It gets serious from now onwards.

    Kev Jungle

Interesting to see you whining about when leagues are being celebrated.

You are not even a regular attendee at Celtic park never mind season book holder.

Go comment on stuff you have a vested interest in ya daftie.

In the jungle with Mark McGhee and Murdo Mcleod yeah yeah yeah.

Lots of us were there. Some recognize the world moves on.

    ______________________________________________________________

    Aye well…..

Ye see it’s like this – I chucked going to see the Cellic when MO’N walked.

Fast-forwarding to today, I can no longer afford to go.

So, does that mean that I’m not a Cellic fan anymore ?

That seems to be the case going by your mean spirited mantra.

Your retort to me spells out to me – 3 flaws.

    1. You being too precious to embrace criticism of the kowtowing policies that are and will, become more apparent as the days go by of, the Old Firm Celtic PLC-Hierarchy.

    2. You dismissing me as a Cellic fan because, I don’t financially contribute to the funds of the, deceitful-kowtowing-sleekit-old-firm-Celtic-PLC-Hierarchy because I can no longer afford to, and….thank God that I don’t buy the Cellic strips, ah mean when did Cellic play in black ? Would Mr Stein have sent his Lions out to play in black strips ?…Who decides these things ?

    3. You, executing one of the main flaws which is so evident among the Celtic support of today. The execution of the messenger rather than, being cute, Celtic-cute….and embracing the message.

In other news…..why no announcement of the amount of season ticket sales ?

Why no blowing of the trumpets to tell us all that we’re on the same page to back Brendan to, ensure that we stay top dogs domestically and, try to make an effort in Europe ?

    It’s all so grand eh.

Just wait till the 1st mibbery influenced result goes against us and, then you’ll see exactly who, is on the same page as you.

    Does Brendan do…..

    Ruthless ?

    Crafty ?

    Devious ?

    Celtic-cute ?

    Master of mind-games ?

Managing Effe into Celtic’s Yaya ?

Has Brendan reallllllly goat it ?

    Well, he’ll need tae…..imho.

    …..laters…..

Good Morning Bhoys from a dry but dark clouded Central Scotland. It is interesting that we have so many midfielders and yet we create so few chances from midfield for our forwards. I guess that is one of my concerns especially in Europe that we create so few chances for our forwards we either need one of our current midfielders to become a creative midfielder or we need to sign such a player. H.H.

Anyway, back to gym today , hamstring rehab starts again, bit of shopping, cooking lunch for my daughter, bit of tennis then the long wait till the football kicks off.

Hopefully, I may pass that lull snoozing in the garden with a glass in hand. We shall see..

All the best to the organisers and participants in the homeless World Cup , will try to catch some of that later in the week if I can.

IMO,if a game isn’t important enough to bet on,it’s not important enough to lose any sleep over.

  18. Forrest looking very good last night, and Wee Paddy looking poor. What a strange world.Armstrong set to be a player for us if he continues his form, also Rogic,if he signs.I like Biton, keeps the ball moving ,to Celtic players. If we got 8 million, take it.Wee Lenny looking for help at Hibs,a couple of loans would help us and him.

  20. TURKEYBHOY @ 9:36 AM,

“Forrest looking very good last night, and Wee Paddy looking poor….”

It was interesting to see how effective James, on his game, can be. Head and shoulders above Our Wonderkid.

Even when they swopped wings (interesting move by Brendan), Paddy was less effective down the “easier” wing.

That said, I think PR went into the game against an accomplished European side, the way he ended last Season against a poor SPL side.

Things were not coming off, he got caught in/lost possession way too often/easily.

Yet he never hid, kept trying things, got a good shot off and was part of a forward going midfield that rocked NK Maribor.

Still, the Forrest Rogic combo was excellent, paddy will come good and if we can keep them together/fit….

    FORREST – ROGIC – ROBERTS

Will be the bane of many defences this Season and not just in Scotland.

    Hail Hail
