You could be forgiven for losing track of Scottish football issues of governance, accountability and oversight, there are so many fronts to engage on. On the heels of CQN approaching Private Eye on the subject of Resolution 12 (granting of licences to participate in Uefa competitions), the newspaper today wrote about the recent Offshore Game Report on the SFA’s dealings with oldco Rangers’ tax affairs, the SPL Commission into Rangers, as well as the awarding of Uefa licences in 2011.
This is what functioning oversight looks like. Organisations with a platform to analyse those in power do so. In the Scottish goldfish bowl, we import oversight from London, which makes accountability difficult and, ultimately, makes governance ineffective.
No review of the Nimmo Smith Commission will take place until the Supreme Court has had their say, but any hopes of accountability you have at that point will rest in interest in the matter from London. We simply don’t have the structures in place here.

Good to see Gianluigi Buffon straight over to Martin O’Neill to offer his congratulations with a big grin on his face, Buffon is a class act in every sense.
There is plenty of fight in the underdog at this tournament.

Hope Brendan was watching Jeff Hendrick tonight, and the previous two games. Ireland’s best player this tournament.
Ireland were immense tonight! Would sign James McLean in a heartbeat. Delighted for MON. A word for Buffon, a class act.
It’s a weird feeling being in the opposite camp to Celtic fans .
Italy v Ireland final , don’t think I’d survive it.
Wales, Ireland and N Ireland are such a refreshing opposite to the beloved England of the supposed media.
France away
BORGO67,
I think most of us understand your feelings.
TAKE THE ROOF OFF!!!
Sevco is on the verge of a major falling out with their shirt sponsor and the kit manufacturer after threatening to block the sale of jerseys by Sports Direct.
