Fighting the same foe too many times

1064

Napoleon observed that no one should fight the same enemy too many times, as eventually their superior ways and techniques will become redundant as the inferior foe will eventually hit on a strategy which works.

Dundee United did reasonably well in their two games against Celtic in the last 9 days, despite playing a considerable part of both games with a man disadvantage.  They will arrive at Celtic Park tomorrow night having learned a few lessons, and hooping to compete with a full complement of players.

The danger for Celtic lies in what happened against St Johnstone at Celtic Park earlier this month.  The Perth team have won only two of their nine games since 17 January but they knew what to expect from Celtic, who were marginally off-pace, enough so to leave the field without points.  Another marginally off-pace performance tomorrow night and talk of trebles will evaporate in an instant.

If we’re vulnerable at any point between now and the end of the season, it’s this midweek.

In fairness the guys asking about the game on TV are down south.

But your point about supporters not turning out is correct. Celtic have priced the game to attract a good turn-out, we have just won a cup and the match is an exciting tie. What’s the turn-off, can’t fathom it.

Think it’s strange how our support has waned.

    Looks like about 30,000 tomorrow.

  2. It would be helpful if Celtic could actually send out the bloody tickets so we could go to the game!!

    Right back to Cumbernauld.

  3. Arsenal playing very well indeed. Some great football from them.Another goal and its game on.Meanwhile over at the big hoose,

Arsenal were 5/1 to qualify before the game, 70/1 to win on penalties caught my eye…….

  5. Hooper having a mare for Norwich. Looks unfit, overweight and his passing has been awful. Missed a tap in from 4 yards.

The South Stand doesn’t have a lower never mind upper tier, in fact it’s not even called The South Stand, it’s just —- The Stand.

The front stand is for all the battered bunnet’s and jobo’s.

Looking down from the posh seats where P67 and bjmac sit high in the jungle, it looks like an ole Dansette Radio.

    Gary,

He was terrific for us though. Some fine goals.

    Good evening everybody.

I would take Hooper back this summer, not without his faults, but better than anything else we have.

I would also like to see Scepovic get a decent run to show what he can do.

You know you have finally shaken off your oppressive working class Scottish reverse snobbery(drilled into us by primitives) when you enjoy ClassicFm.

Actually, our work van plays it during our break. My mates are all young foreigners from working class backgrounds like me. Only one sneered at classical music. Working class Scottishness is crap. Sorry Tommy Sheridan and all.

If you watch the second half of the Arsenal game another U2 album will download itself into your iTunes.

Beram subbed off. I hope it’s a goal scorer that’s replaced him.

  16. My wife loves Classic FM , as do I much of the time.

But there is a programme at night which plays the most somber music relentlessly.

When she has it on, I am prone to ask “is Brezhnev dead again?”
