Find how best to use Scott Brown

815

Neil Lennon will be delighted to have secured his captain, Scott Brown, on a new long-term contract which sees the player tied to the club until after his 30th birthday in 2015, with the club having an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

Scott joined Celtic in 2007 and played central midfield until last season, when he was occasionally used wide right, to great effect.  Reflecting some of the conversations we had earlier this week with Georgios Samaras, who has recently been a revelation wide-left after years of frustration as part of a front pairing, Scott seemed to revel in the space the wider position allowed him to exploit.

Before joining Celtic Scott made his name playing almost as an auxiliary striker at Hibernian, where he would burst into the box with well-timed runs but at Celtic he is more commonly anchored in a defensive midfield role.  As a consequence, despite having played more games for Celtic than Hibs, and playing for a team who attack far more often, he has still to match his Hibs goals scored total at Celtic.

They’re watching some tosh with John Barrowman and giving me glowering looks as I’m hammering the mouse on Kongregate. LotR:War in the North beckons.

    Saturday TV is utter wash.

  3. Tonight I will have the X factor in stero as usual, the wife on one tele and the young fella and his girl on the other, with a 1-2 second delay between the teles, when daughter was here I had it in trebelo, nay wonder I drink.

I have one TV that has sky box with sports and espn. It is in the living room where the girl n her wee one will be watching Xfactor. By rights I should ask them to go upstairs and watch it on one of their TV’s, but I like being alive. They should offer though.

Think I may be missing Barca game at some point as well. The TV will be all mine tomorrow when the hoops are on though, as always lol.

  6. Having had a glimpse of what they are all about today

i have no doubt whatsoever that we will absolutely horse them

    in the next 3 games.

  7. I’m surprised at Fraser’s outburst………….he’s not yer average thick ‘currant’.

Perhaps he just felt secure enough in his surroundings….

It’s only an o.g if somebody makes a complaint tho’.

  8. The Singing Detective on

    Mid-fielders,mid-fielders..

Well I expect that we will aim to sell Ki in the January window…he will have been at Parkhead for three years, and it is unlikely that he will re-sign…

As has often been suggested by others, his style would be better suited to the Spanish or Italian Leagues..or possibly the EPL,if he played for one of their better clubs.I expect that he will develop into a very fine player.

It would be most disappointing if we did not get a satisfactory fee for him…apart from his obvious talent, his value to the buying club would be substantially enhanced by the commercial exposure they would obtain in the Korean market.

Lawwell needs to make sure that we do not miss out….accept no less than £10M.

    Perhaps O’Neil can do us a favour,after stealing Petrov,Maloney,and Agathe ?

Folk living in caves cannae see the wid frae the trees …..Ah’m ah surprised ??

  10. I’m pleased that he has signed again, he is the type of player that we need. He has aggression and strength to his game and an attacking ‘never say die’ mentality and, hopefully, as others have said, has lost his ‘red mist’. He has now learned what being a captain at a club like Celtic involves, from a responsibility perspective and I hope that he can grown and mature further and become the Celtic legend that he could be.

  11. For the first time this season

i think we can win this league.

    We can only get better.

They can only hope for biased referees.

  12. dirtymac, one reason I have the PC in the spare room is so they don’t have to listen to me typing away and laughing away to myself at some of the posts. Don’t get involved in posting too much but some of the banter on here is great.

  15. IMO best for Brown Best for us sell him. The 4.4 mil has never been money well invested. Henke. Lubo including many of the current senoir team cost a lot less and have / are contributing much more than Scott has. Again IMO never a Celtic player let alone our skipper. FYI i did love the EL duhun put down.

  17. South Of Tunis on

    Ciao—-

For those who will be watching Inter -Udinese .

Udinese start with 10 of their strongest picks-only Domizzi is missing .

The excellent Romanian , Torje , is ineligible for Europe.

Very unlikely that this team will face Celtic
