Football doesn’t allow you to pick and choose

339

Europe?  A week ago I was all for it; there has been a lot of learning since.  We are not ready to make an impact on the latter stages of the Conference League or any other Uefa competition.  For me, the focus of this week is all about Easter Road on Sunday.  Football, however, does not allow you to pick and choose.

If Ange rested much of his first team against Bodo/Glimt tomorrow and suffered an even worse result than in the first leg, a new avenue of consequences would open up.  You cannot prepare property for an important game by losing a few days earlier.

Celtic must go out in the frozen north and give a professional performance, preparations for Easter Road will wait a few days.

  1. GLENDALSTONSILS,

I basically agree with you. I wouldn’t be too concerned if people followed Majestic Hartson’s notion that folk tackle the idea and not the person. I ignore way too many posters these days. Shame.

  2. Looking forward to the game tonight. It will be difficult but do-able. We have the players who can turn this round. Also, I think Bodo might be too cocky and underestimate us.

I’d take a penalty shoot-out now, but if we go out, not the end of the world.

    2-0 Celtic 90 minutes.

Has anybody ever met “Ernie Lynch”?

The answer to that will be a resounding no.

He is a troll and fair enough but please see his posts through that prism.

There used to be a guy who posted from Japan. In response to a request from him on here I managed to sort him and his family out with tickets for a couple of games one Xmas when he was back over for a visit. One at Rugby park which he went to with his wife and weans (I wasn’t at that one) and the second against the huns at CP which he attended with his dad, who if memory serves was from Clydebank .I met him at the game.

This was a good few years ago and probably a long time before you joined the site.

Nonetheless I hope it sets your mind at ease, and clears up any confusion on your part, though I suspect it won’t.

  4. Just finished reading back.

    It didn’t take long.

I now scroll past more posts than I read.

    Shame.

    So it is.

    We made B/G look good.

We didn’t give them enough respect and made it easy for them.

When we managed to put some passages of play together — they didn’t look so special.

We have the talent to beat them at home — just a case that talent isn’t enough.

More focus / more physicality / less wasteful play and we would be OK.

Just a case that we haven’t played at this level over the past 6 weeks apart from 45 minutes against the TFOD2.1.

Need to put out a full strength team — but give CMcG the night off.

Famous last words — we might be in with a shout.

    First goal is crucial.

  6. The one morning where a non Football discussion could be justified, and International events could justifiably take centre stage and nothing, Strange,

  7. CORKCELT on 24TH FEBRUARY 2022 10:21 AM

But there are still posts about the nature of posts being made or not being made.

  8. 3-1 to the Celtic after 90 mins with a goal in the final 10 taking it to extra time.

    Their goalie has a nightmare

They run out of steam and we secure the tie win in extra time.

Then over to Ibrox where news has rippled through and the hordes restlessness has impacted on the premature celebrations and suddenly the pressure is heaped back on wee Gio’s team.

  9. All those with flights booked to Albania in May face a tricky anxious 9 hours……. But win this tonight and who knows.

  10. Ernie

My limited experience of sporting injury would not permit me to make a worthwhile guess.

Maybe you will have the time to Google it and share the likely stats Re injuries.

All I do know is that in most sports if you compete wholeheartedly you are far less likely to be injured than if you ‘go through the motions’.

  11. BURNLEY78 on 24TH FEBRUARY 2022 10:53 AM

And would the game going to extra time increase or reduce the likelihood of injuries or otherwise affect the ability of the players to perform to the best of their ability in the forthcoming league games?

  12. RC posted a couple of days ago that after 27 games we are actually only 8 points ahead of last years total after 27 games. That surprised me as I thought we were a lot better than last season. I suppose if we keep winning we will increase the difference from last season but still a surprise

  13. Before any/most of us had ever seen Bodo, we were pretty confident that we would take a reasonable lead to the Arctic Circle. It truly surprises me that, having now seen them, some feel that we are likely to get a decent result tonight.

Is the feeling that we played below par and Bodo excelled themselves?

As might be obvious from this post, I have zero confidence that we will go through tonight. Worse than that, I feel playing in the Arctic tonight will affect our performance (and the result) on Sunday.

  14. Yorkbhoy

Do you live in York? I ask because my partner and I are going there tomorrow for a wee visit.

A story circulating on line that an injured sevco player is in trouble after his Lamborghini broke down on the M8.

  16. Re Boli’s oblique social meeja statement that he: “Never sat on two knees. Mission in sight.”

    Does he akshully mean:

    A) He’s never visited Santa twice at Lewis’s Xmas store

    B) He refused to beg for forgiveness for his end-gratifying arseholery

    C) He hasn’t lost a cent or second of sleep thru the whole pantomime.

Hope we packed the thermals for tonight’s ice rink of a pitch. 2-1 to them and we put it down to experience.

    On the contrary.

Deploying facts to correct a poster labouring under a manifest error and indulging in a delusional fantasy because they find reality too challenging is my stock in trade.

  18. Who was the mysterious man from Japan who might have met Ernie, that is mis-direction right there, offcourse someone from CQN has met him, the guy from Japan will be on sometime soon to confirm the authenticity of the story.

  19. If implemented, VAR will be used to advantage sevco and disadvantage every other club, especially celtic.

  20. SAINT STIVS on 24TH FEBRUARY 2022 11:41 AM

    You don’t remember the poster?

    Maybe before your time.

  21. “ERNIE LYNCH on 24TH FEBRUARY 2022 11:36 AM

Deploying facts to correct a poster ”

I agree that you do do that but I don`t recall you revealing any personal details before. That is what I find out of character.

Also, I share your scepticism @ 11:42 am and for the same reason!

  22. HOT SMOKED on 24TH FEBRUARY 2022 11:50 AM

I’ve referred to this several times when facing down allegations of being a troll. Always from cult members, funnily enough.

  23. The hue of the Lambo, however, surely rules in someone of a bluenosed persuasion.

As others intimate – and Brian Wilson sang – ‘Wouldn’t it be nice…’

    Monna Dortmunders!

  24. HOT SMOKED on 24TH FEBRUARY 2022 11:50 AM

I agree that you do do that but I don`t recall you revealing any personal details before. That is what I find out of character.

What personal facts ? can you verify these facts easily Jim, do you fact-check all his posts Jim ?

Now Jim I have met you on quite a few occasions yes. ? Easily verifiable fact-checked simply, I have met 100s of CQN folk at various events, your identity is not a state secret, goodness me CQN is not the Masons is it ? we certainly don’t need to concern ourselves about national security

There certainly was a poster who claimed he lived in Japan, did he meet for tickets ? I know many CQN folks who have been sorted for tickets on these pages, all easily verifiable and simple to fact check

  25. JHB @9:33am you seems a tad worried about Scots exercising their democratic right to vote for whomever they choose…worried much? Your playground view that voting preferences are guided by your rivals is pathetic, but not unexpected. Personally, I would estimate that I know just as many Rangers as Celtic fans who lean towards the SNP, but that is a personal thing for each of them and nothing I would lose any sleep over. I tend to judge people on their character and generosity of spirit and treat them as I would wish to be treated.

You seem almost Trump-like in your unwillingness to accept the will of the electorate. Maybe time for you to calm down, take a moment to reflect on the positives in life and stop moon-howling about things you cannot change. How strenuously an individual attempts to force their views & will onto others, particularly those who have not sought out or asked your opinion, says a lot. This impotent hysteria cannot be good for your well-being, mentally or physically.

    Maybe stick to the fitba’?
