Foregone conclusion territory

1955

I don’t know about you but practically every football thought I have at the moment is connected to where we go next. The small matter of winning the league title has slipped into ‘foregone conclusion’ territory, which is always dangerous.

The players will be no different from the rest of us, but they will have more on their minds. A change of manager is likely to mean a new system, and new squad requirements. They need to focus on making the best of the next five games. One thing that has been reassuring this week is Ronny Deila’s comments. His professional pride is clear; he’ll apply himself fully to the task in hand until the end of the season.

Eyes on the task of winning the league, as soon as possible.

  1. Quonno. Surely you don’t mean roping in the Lisbon Lions to advise the Sellick supporters to vote NO? If you vote YES you’ll lose your Old Age Pension. No.I missed that. I’m sure the Tory and Masonic board members enjoyed that. Not the first time that Tories & Labour danced, celebrated together. But I’m sure Ernie will explain…

Certainly not – but I just don’t see enough influence from him on games, and has a worrying knack of being n the fringes of the action,

Yes, I agree. I have found JP most amenable in the past and emailed him just before I posted my suggestion on here. I await his reply with interest.

Because Celtic means so much to so many of us, there can be a fair bit of getting carried away on here ( and elsewhere, of course) and this , I am sure, cannot be a good thing for our Club and for our team. Having a response from the `inside` via JP on CQN would help alleviate the many genuine concerns many of our supporters obviously have.

    Have to go,

    Cheerio for now.

PS I am really looking forward to our support getting behind our team on Sunday. I certainly will be!

    Hail! Hail!

  6. If we just blindly support Celtic just now we are harming Celtic. That’s what the current board are doing to us. They need to be removed. No ifs no buts no maybes

  7. Neganon

I disagree. The priority at the moment is backing this team to the title.

    Neganon,

I’m not sure if you are fully aware of what you post these days just so long as theres a dig at the board and a call to boycott.

I fully agree with HT and bcw.

Renewal time or pitchforks in the car park is a better time and place to make feelings known.

  11. HT and BCW I totally understand your point of view but I won’t go back until Lawwell and co have gone.

  12. Hope you all enjoyed Tommy’s visit to the blog this afternoon – he certainly did.

He had to be calmed down when talking about three or four Celtic players who were described in industrial language that would have seen the first yellow card (at least!) issued to a Lisbon Lion on CQN – when discussing last Sunday’s shameful defeat.

He said they weren’t trying. Cheating the support.

That’s why he wants Keane in to sort this out. That’s why we’re never able to win important matches.

Had a CQNer along to meet Tommy today, if anyone else fancies doing something similar in the future please let me know. Tommy loves the company and chatting about football. He’s been watching all the European games and is now chatting away about various matches he’s been watching on BT Sports.

  13. Geordie I am fully aware of what I post. There is only one show in town right now that truelly matters and that is removing the failed and corrupt Celtic board.

Anything else is failing to address the root cause of our problems. Anything which makes the board more secure represents a massive step backward.

  14. Neganon2, if you can’t support the team at a time like this, you won’t be missed. It’s a shame you aren’t able to subordinate your loathing for the board to support for the team.

    Just my opinion, of course.

  15. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Get were you are coming from neganon tickets here for the asking.

    Or anyone else.

  16. West End of East End on

If we get this board removed I’ll not be back until the bovril is roasting and the pies have more meat. Then I’ll want all the stewards to be blonde and a guarantee that I’ll win the half time draw twice a season at least.

Only when my demands are met will I support Celtic…

  17. Neganon

Trust me I completely understand your views of the board, and indeed share many of them. However, the priority must always be supporting the team on the park, that has precedence over everything.

  18. Neganon2 time for you to put updo you have a plan/idea how to remove the board? Let us hear it and you may be surprised by the support you get if it has merit. Looking forward to hearing about it. H H Hebbcelt

  19. Fieldofdrams it’s not about not being able to subordinate my hate. More that sadly the only way to enact change is to deprive the club of money and support.

Despite everything that has been hinted at the board will not change its strategy or approach, nor will it speak out. They are back in hiding. It’s absolutely pathetic but what else should we expect.

If they think they will get away with it they will.

West end of east end. Supporting something sometimes means taking difficult decisions.

  20. Neganon surely has the right to make his choice as to whether he goes to the match or not? You can agree or disagree with his stand but he’s entitled to his choice.

Unless I’ve missed it, I’ve not seen him badgering anyone not to go.

  21. HT I completely understand your stance. I just think the board will take encouragement from any support. That would be a retrograde step. They are worried right now. They are vulnerable.

Hebcelt there are a couple of things that I think we could do.

The main one is withdrawing all attendance and support for the club. Don’t buy season books, don’t buy shirts etc. This is by far the most difficult because culturally it’s hard not to go (believe me I know). But all the other actions will at least initially simply be ignored by. This board.

Secondly we need all official Celtic supporters clubs to request that Lawwell and bankier step down. this should be done solely on their disasterous performance over the last few years.

I think next is a petition. This is difficult in that of course the Huns would invade it (God knows I did it to them).

And lastly organised protests outside the ground.

    I am willing to help/participate/organise.

    Are you?

  22. Twisty

I’m not saying that he should go, the decision is his alone to make. Personally, everything else can wait until the title is clinched, hopefully!

  23. Geordie Munro on

    Twists,

On the back of a Lisbon lion saying we should turn up and support Celtic on Sunday ( a few posters echoed this) neganon posts that blindly supporting the club right now is hurting us.

Neg did not demand any of not to turn up either but anyone who can do joined up thinking can see he’d rather we did NOT turn up on Sunday.

  25. HT

I hope you’re right my friend. I’m of the opinion we will extend our lead in this title race. Yes we have been poor, yes we are going through some tough times, but we are better than Aberdeen and Hearts and will beat both of them in my opinion. I also think they’ll both drop more points out with our games v them.

Mon the hoops. If the board get this appointment correct, and with reasonable funding, we will win the league before Easter next season. I honestly believe that.

  26. Geordie I have met Tommy in the past and he is a great guy. He loves Celtic dearly. The Lisbon lions have a very special view of the support and something precious and powerful. Something to be cherished.

They know that the support are Celtic.

But sadly those who run Celtic right now have a different view. Worse than that they are causing serious damage to Celtic and it is only getting worse. Significant action is necessary.

So as much as I love Tommy I don’t think he sees how bad things are and how much the support are hated by this board. We need to do something to change it. My view is that going to the games will only increase the arrogance and complacency in the boardroom. It will prevent change.

I am not demanding it. I know it’s a personal decision. But I am trying to show why I think it’s necessary.

It’s not like I have been successful at influencing in the past but I still think it’s important.

If we just blindly support Celtic just now we are harming Celtic.

twists n turns – I would say the above comment is pretty strong in asking fans to stay away. We have a league title to win, only the 2nd 5 in a row in my lifetime. We have enough outside influences nipping away at us to distract us from that goal. Until the league is wrapped up we should be a united front. Enough time later to finger point…

  28. TBJ has no trust in the PLC on

I changed my monica to highlight my opinion of the plc board… but I absolutely want my team to win this league …. for the support and for ronny too .

Get behind the team on Sunday.. roar them on …. give it 100% .

I want PL out . I don’t want Neil lennon back either

But that can all wait until we get the real trophy and for the new manager to be able to go for 6 in a row and the champions league

Come in you bhoys in green

  29. Geordie Munro on

    Neg,

I get what you say and sometimes changes at board level are needed but I’d bet my kidneys that if Pl walked tomorrow and took the chairman with him the new guys will say no more or less on the subjects that worry you the most than the current lot.

NegAnon2 – I get your point and I know you’ve been banging on about it for sometime but I want us to win this league, just wish you would keep your powder dry till after then….Once we win this league, fill your boots…

  31. West end

I’d disagree mate. Just a strong opinion from Neganon. No asking others to join him.

Anyhow….. I’m sure everyone at the game will get behind the bhoys. The players will definitely get a lift from the support being behind them, and that’s all that matters when the whistle blows.
