FRIMPONG TARGETS ‘BIG WEEK AHEAD’

JEREMIE FRIMPONG didn’t mark his return to Neil Lennon’s first-team squad with an appearance in the crucial 2-1 triumph over at Aberdeen at Pittodrie yesterday.

However, the 19-year-old fans’ favourite, who has missed the last seven games through injury, was still delighted to get a close-up view of the champions’ latest triumph as Celtic zero in on their ninth successive title.

Frimpong remained on the substitutes’ bench as boss Lennon utilised Ryan Christie, Tom Rogic and Jonny Hayes – who came for the injured Greg Taylor after only 25 minutes – but the Dutch teenager wasn’t complaining at the end of a dramatic encounter in the north east that was settled by Kristoffer Ajer’s winner nine minutes from the end.

The pacy right-back said on Instagram: “Back in the squad!

“Three points! Big week ahead Celts.”

The former Manchester City prospect, who joined on the September deadline day for an initial £300,000 fee that will rise to £1million, has now set his sights on the first leg of the Hoops’ Europa League last-32 encounter against Copenhagen in Denmark on Thursday which has a 5.55pm kick-off.
