The reaction to points dropped yesterday was not on the same level as the disappointment after we similarly rescued a point against Hibs late on the game or went out of the League Cup last week, this one was expected by all and did no more than provide further confirmation of where we are.
This run of two wins in 12 games will eventually end, but by then it will be too late – possibly too late to see off Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final. In 11 games between now and February, only two are outside Glasgow, short journeys to Hamilton and Paisley, and we have no international fixtures to contend with, but as St Johnstone, Ross County and others have established, that is no comfort.
St Johnstone’s goal was unlike our most in our recent glut. The defence was briefly in position before breaking into a moment’s disorganisation, Frimpong rushed forward, leaving May unattended, Kane reacted while his marker, Bitton, looked the other way. Neither Celtic player demonstrated defensive instincts.
Not that the defence is to blame. The volume of good chances was insufficient to convince anyone a Celtic goal was coming and those that came were missed by our once-prized asset. The equaliser had more than a touch of good fortune about it. Whatever ails Celtic, it is not limited to the back line.

BHOY FROM THE BOYNE on 8TH DECEMBER 2020 10:16 AM
Who gets to pick the teams for the cokeyback rides?
Lennon himself said a few weeks ago in an interview that he arrives to Lennoxtown for work at 9am. It was in the context of how he does his best to bring success to the club.
Reading the Board’s latest statement, you could rewrite it as simply:
“Neil Lennon is our manager. If he goes down, we all go down with him.”
Which works well from the perspective of human solidarity.
But it’s pretty crap from the perspective of winning the league this season.
As I noted yesterday, given the circumstances and the direction of travel, the logical, rational response is to write off this season. There’s quite enough else to be worrying about.

TBB,
Agreed. What should have been an historic season for me is just a ground zero, regroup and learn from this sorry affair for season 21/22 exercise now. The ‘if my auntie had balls’ approach has run its course sadly.

So the ‘faithful through and through’ and ‘keep the faith’ mantras go out the window when it suits.
Compare and contrast then and now.
Then: incompetent, and self serving Celtic board, out of their depth, lacking the financial resources and business acumen required to deal with the desperate problems which were overwhelming the club. But, I think I’m right in saying, for all of that hitherto lifelong Celtic fans.
Now: competent, successful Board members, variously rich, very rich and exceptionally rich, dripping over with business acumen, running an exceptionally well resourced club, and yet somehow managing to go from a position of total dominance to where we are today. And how many of them are actually Celtic fans?
The former lot were incompetent, this lot don’t have that excuse. This mess is not an accident, it’s deliberate.

That was my thinking too!

I have give a lot of thought to this but the man I’d have as manager would be Mr Maloney. Sure he’s a bit wet behind the ears some may say, but don’t tell me he’s learned nothing in his current position with Belgium.. They are the highest ranked team in the world, rightly so, and ask just what his input is to the set up of the team. Could be more than you might imagine. Only thing he must do is be allowed to bring his own back room staff to Paradise.
Also, he does GET Celtic.
SCHUMMI
Dermot Desmond is as arrogant as they come – Neil Lennon is in post right now because Desmond has dug his heels in.
It’s clear where our problems lie at Celtic. We’ve a major shareholder who is a liquidation denier, stopped resolution 12 in its tracks, appointed his CEO and made him unaccountable to anyone bar himself. He’s detached from Celtic and treats the Club like a causal pastime – one in which he refuses to put money into.
We need a change of ownership. Desmond needs to be removed.
That means a boycott, a collapse in share price and probably a couple of barren years.
We’ll be better in the long run though. Not another penny until Desmond is chased.

Thanks for the `term` comments, Bhoys.

I find that hard to believe but I am struggling for an alternative.
I have thought along the lines of bad `luck` re covid, injuries, postponements and the pressure of Ten whilst Sevco have been `lucky` in terms of the first three and that has helped take the pressure off in their efforts to stop the Ten.
Not saying that folk shouldnt decide not to buy season ticket merchandise etc if that is what they want to do, it will be evident from the club accounts if enough do. We are stuck with this board until they are removed by the block, employees will come and go but this board elects itself through the block vote, a terrible situation caused by the way McCann sold up and through subsequent share issues including the one where a rule to waive the takeover rules once a certain shareholding had been achieved. This applied to Desmond.
We are in a spiral of nothingness unless the block vote want change.
`We are in a spiral of nothingness `
Maybe hope doe not spring eternal after all :-))))
After achieved was passed. Sorry

I know. It was a light-hearted comment on my part as evidenced by the addition of ` :-))))`.
I found your post informative.

Wish my heart was light this is pre McCann stuff again.
That must have been Lawwell that wrote that piece or dictated it to Paul.
What planet are some people on.

I know what you mean but I really am a `never say never` kind of person. Logic tell me the league is lost but hope really does spring eternal for me. On the other hand, if ernie is correct, then that spring of eternal hope will be plugged.
Too wet for the bike so a walk instead.
Cheerio for now.
Wow….the article cited is pure moonhowling, Berlin May 1945 pish.
Next we’ll see pictures of the top brass, from a distance behind the fencing, presenting medals to ball boys as they seek to protect our right flank from the hun invasion armed with little more than a rosary and a Panzerfaust!

SCHUMMI- Maloney came through the ranks with Kennedy, he needs to go as well
Someone who I haven’t seen mentioned for a role at the club is Brian Mclair. Did quite a bit of coaching at Man utd, then had that job at Scotland
Other coaches, without a Celtic background, are also available.
St Tams
Problem with B McClair is that he is a former footballer whose brains were not all in his feet.
Don’t think he’d put up wi any interference/snash
In ither news………..
one of the most incredible stories behind Tavs goal kount must shirley be the numbers of penalties he’s handed……….
Aye.
I would be interested to see an article on likely conclusion for decade ahead if the boards latest gamble fails and Sevco win the league title.
Assuming they get either auto CL qualification or past the qualifying rounds together with us dropping 20-25% season ticket sales. Even if there are 2 CL qualifying places next season, anyone confident they won’t qualify given their recent European record versus ours?
The GOD should be gone….will the balance for 2020-30 be akin to 2000-2010 where we picked up 6 titles v’s oldco’s 4 or visa-versa?
Or will some sort of European league dilute SPFL competition to point where domestic titles mean less?
Sombering thought for us fans….. we really should have been light years ahead of them in every aspect on & off the park and that strategic planning should have commenced on Feb 14th 2012.
if only the malcontents hadnt won the battle in the early 90s
tonight we would probably be heading to our brilliant restricted view-less stadium in cambuslang to watch us play against one of europes finest
and not a PLC parasite in sight
sack the board
bring back the old board

That strategic planning should have commenced on Feb 14th 2012
Yes they planned that the “old Firm” would never die.
Turkeybhoy…I know how you feel. Tough for you…just had a tearful friend pop by a few minutes ago to tell me her big dug passed away. He was pally with my two…
The Celtic Trust is in the embryonic stages of an ownership campaign.
The treatment of the support by the Board has convinced me that this is a fight that needs to be fought.
I’ll be supporting the trust as best I can – I’ve cancelled Celtic tv, the Celtic pools direct debit is no more, the season ticket will not be renewed – the money will now be going to the trust.
Nothing will change until that boardroom is representative of the fans.
I’m not having Desmond lecture me about Celtic values.
ONENIGHTINLISBON,
There is no evidence to suggest Celtic plc board planned for anything other than business model built of O*d Fi*m rivalry.
DD’s & Celtic plc’s ultimate strategic goal has always been to get into the EPL. That failing they have fallen back on a revenue model centered on O*d Fi*m rivalry.
But why….as a Celtic plc surely it would be more lucrative to have instead built their strategic plans around maximizing CL revenue through qualification.
Celtic support will look back on the 2010-2020 years with differing views. Yes the domestic treble was great but have the club truly reached its potential and how do we truly measure that potential?
Its not true domestic dominance for me during the time Sevco climbed up the league and established themselves.
The club has grossly under achieved for me. The measurement should have been CL qualification between 2012-2019 and then using strategic advantage to cement our dominance for 2020-30 decade.
A missed opportunity that will rile Celtic fans for decades to come.
