Gang of 10 changes will destroy Celtic

374

The BBC today report that the Gang of 10 SPL clubs have agreed a plan to re-write the rulebook of Scottish football in order to parachute Sevco into the second tier of the game.  They also report that Hibernian, Rod Petrie, briefed Charles Green of Sevco on their conditions to accept his company.  These conditions involve paying Rangers football debts and fines.

The plan involved the most almighty reorganisation of the league structure in order to gain enough support from lower league clubs to entice them to agree to place Sevco in the First Division.  They also want to take YOUR money in perpetuity to buy votes from lower league clubs, and have included a provision to allow them to vote for a share of home gates – all to establish a club called ‘Rangers’.

Crucially, the SFA, led by president Campbell Ogilvie and chief exec, Stewart Regan, have colluded in this scheme by not instructing the Appellate Panel to convene to consider Rangers punishment after the Court of Sessions told them to do so 30 days ago.  It is expected the Appellate Panel will suspend ‘Rangers’ from football for a year when it convenes.

The Gang of 10’s plan would require Rangers to withdraw their objection to the initial Appellate Panel ruling but it would also require the independent judicial overview of Scottish football to end before action is taken against the club for illegally registering players for over a decade, or for improper use of EBTs to scape social taxes, both of which are likely to expel the club.

Disciplinary rules cannot be changed because ‘Rangers’ are about to be punished.  Leagues cannot be restructured to allow a team bearing the name ‘Rangers’ an easy passage to the top.  This is no longer sport.

The utter stupidity of this scheme is staggering.  They are making plans with a man who owns a stadium but who cannot call on any supporters.  They are about to wreck Scottish football for a company who have yet to establish their financial viability.

Your money is being bargained away by every club in the SPL apart from Celtic.  Are you happy about this?  Will you continue to pay for Sky TV or ESPN?  Will you continue to buy tickets to attend away games?  Will you ever attend a League Cup or Scottish Cup game again?

Celtic paid their bills and conducted their business fairly and properly.  Be under no illusion, these changes will destroy the Celtic you recognise.  Forget your Champions League trips, you’ll be scraping the bottom of the barrel with ‘Sevco Rangers’ in a few years.  We cannot be exploited in this way.

It’s time the entire edifice of Scottish football was brought asunder, better that than be subject to random acts of destruction.  I cannot support any operation funding this enterprise so I’m cancelling Sky Sports and ESPN.

seems i will have to get my lawyer to go over my posts before i post, lol

  4. I understand the anti-SKY and anti-ESPN feelings running high at the moment.

I cancelled my ESPN at the end of the season stating the hun situation as the reason.

    But…..

This isn’t about TV deals or the money gained/lossed due to these deals.

This is about THEM, simply, THEM.

If this had happened back in the 50’s ,60’s or 70’s when there was no TV deals or any sponsorship money to lose, this would have still went on, only back then it would have been done without the internet bampots so would have been signed, sealed, delivered…..DONE.

This is happeneing because of the anti-catholic, inbred, cesspit of an orange scum country we happen to live and play our football in.

If this new ‘save the exhuns’ plan is knocked back, which I fully think it will be due to fan pressure, they will try something else.

The main objective is ‘save the exhun’ no matter what, they dont care what all the other supporters think. They dont care if it affects any other club, if it hurts Celtic then thats a bonus.

SKY or ESPN or radio clyde or radio scotland….it doesn’t matter….’they’ have to make sure the exhun suffer as little as possible.

That is the trouble here, every honest club and their fans are against ‘THEM’ and ‘they’.

The longer this hun saga drags on the more my love of football dies, and thats part of the plan. Hoping to grind the fight out of us till we just accept a stupid slap on the wrist and a shake of the head ( no doubt followed by alot of shaking of the hands ).

This country is corrupt from top to bottom. We are still seen as 2nd class to ‘the people’.

I expected no different when this started and I expect ‘they’ will try every trick in ( and out of ) the book to help ‘THEM’.

Celtic just get out of here and let them rot, they deserve it.

On a quick break, so not had a chance to read back and apologies if beating the same drum as the others.

If I had a pound for every time the BBC send us all barking down the wrong the path then I would be living next door to a Barclays trader.

Seems to me that what we have again is the BBC putting their spin on a partial release of information.

So the jist of the article is that the Gang of 10 SPL Chairmen believe they have the power to suspend judicial enquiries into umpteen years of cheating; parachute Dignity into a league where up til now 3 clubs have said they do not want them , and so on and so on!

And the SPL Chairmen have of course the SFA in their back pocket as well to allow this charade to take place.

I am not buying this for one minute and believe that nothing of the sort will happen to allow Dignity a parachute.

As for Gate money, will a strong Hearts and Dundee Utd vote for a share of the gate money , if they are getting !6,000 every game in a revitalised league , with say Ross County rocking up with a 100 fans. Sorry, I believe the shared gate ‘story’ will re-emerge from now until the end of the time, as a method of winding up Celtic and attempting to get our Directors to break cover.

Still being wrong plenty of times in the past but I am still firmly in the Dignity oblivion camp and this is just a minor twist in the road to that laudable objective.

Given the proposal is to “buy the SFL TV rights”, it’s a given that this is a SKY idea.

Of course it is. Its a complete myth that Sky will pull out of any TV deal because there will be no newco in SPL. They are now using the situation to get even more coverage of Scottish football for the same (or less) money. They are shrewd businessmen, they know if they pull the plug they’ll lose hundred of thousands of subscribers in Scotland. If you look at the garbage they fill there 4 sports channels with, they need Scottish football more than Scottish football need them. After the EPL, the SPL coverage has the highest viewing figures for sport on Sky (this may have now been surpassed by Sky F1 coverage), over 1m tune in to SPL coverage over a season.

  14. Afternoon,

I read this blog on a daily basis and get all my information from Paul’s headers and the subsequent post’s, I more often than not get the answers to any questions I have without having to ask, such is the quality and knowledge on here.

However today I really am confused (it don’t take much!), if things are as bad as Paul’s article suggests (I have no reason to doubt him as he’s usually spot on) then why have our board not made any statement?.

Cancelling subscriptions to sat tv is fine but why should I purchase a season ticket if all that appears to be happening is true and through their silence my club appear to be condoning it.

I have huge admiration for Paul67, the time and passion put into this blog is amazing but if things are as bad as you suggest then I will also need to ponder a refund on the season tickets I recently purchased.

I fully support the board on how they have handle the death of dignity fc, we would have been dragged into it and passions stoked to cause trouble. But now it appears people outside of Celtic are making decisions on how Celtic’s money is spent!.

Time for some action I think.

After all, a 7-figure sum could be £11,253.74

However with 2 liquidated football clubs already on his CV not to mention the odd conviction for assault, I’d say we give him every chance.

  18. Paul, this half baked plan is a danger to all Scottish football clubs that play by the rules not just Celtic. At a time when all fans are united in demanding rules are applied to all teams equally we need to maintain the unity. Lets not forget our club has representatives on both the SPL board and the SFA professional game board. What are they saying to this ?

I can’t see how this plan is going to get voted through there are a lot of clubs in the SFL who are not happy with the ex Rangers , we also have sevco 1690 running a training session with a handful of players, how are they going to get a licence to play never mind a league to play in.

This has to be more scaremongring by the MSM , do the SFA/SPL/SFL think they can ignore their customers after what has happened over the last few months ??

I think someone said on here before that we would have to give 1 seasons notice (as far as I recall), however there may be a case to go to CAS and give our case for withdrawing due to the ridiculous circumstances.

However two problems would arise from a withdrawal:

    1) We would probably forfeit our rights to play in the CL.

    2) It is probably too late for the club to apply to any other league.

It’s times like these we miss the legal guidance of the late Paul McBride, god rest his soul.

    HH

  25. I’m sure the Board are all over this, but if they can rip up the rule book so can we. Give them 1 year’s notice (not 2) that we are resigning from the SPL. Under the circumstances UEFA / FIFA would surely not prevent CFC from applying to join another league from season 13/14. Then when Sevco FC reappear we won’t be here! And what about legal challenges !

I’ m with Paul – no more SKY or ESPN if this come to fruition, and they will know why in no uncertain terms. Feck them all !!!

  26. Any doubts as to why Ogilvie has been clinging onto his position of influence should now be dispelled.

How do we get rid of him?

  27. Bada Bing – I am sure there is a hilarious joke contained within your post even if it is completely lost on me at the minute. I’d like someone to explain to me why these proposals – in the extremely unlikely event they ever come to pass – would ‘destroy’ Celtic. Scottish Football has been suffering for a long time, the product is poor and two teams have shared the last 28 titles between them. Heaven forbid rival clubs would look at ways to make them – and the league – more competitive.

We aren’t a business like Tesco which can afford to squeeze it’s smaller competitors dry and enjoy a monopoly. We absolutely depend on their strength – if they are weak then that has repercussions for us. A stronger Dundee United, Aberdeen and Hibs will ultimately be beneficial for Celtic in the long term.

As for Rangers – these proposals are unlikely to be met with anything other than skepticism and outright hostility by member clubs of the SFL. Ultimately, it won’t matter what Rod Petrie or anyone else wants to see happen – it will be decided by the members. I also find it intriguing that people appear to have no issue with the rules being bent to allow Rangers – without the appropriate accounts – to be parachuted into SFL Division 3 yet are going apoplectic at the prospect them going to Division one.

Whatever happens – even if Celtic are forced to see a bit of extra income go to rival clubs and a change in an unfair voting structure – the notion that we are in the process of being ‘destroyed’ is scaremongering nonsense.

  28. This letter was on rangerstaxcase blog for fans to have a read.

YOUR GAME – YOUR CLUB – YOUR FUTURE

The Scottish Football League, for the last number of days, has been involved in intensive discussions with The Scottish Premier League, The Scottish Football Association and other crucial stakeholders in our game, to try and address, in a positive way, the current critical issues affecting our game.

The Scottish Football League will today send a briefing document to its member clubs – a logical and positive communication which will hopefully eliminate some of the understandable doubt, threats and insecurities that are apparent within the game at the moment. The consultation document will fully explain the short and long-term benefits of a number of scenarios which we will be considering at a full Club Meeting next week.

The Scottish Football League is trying to address the question of whether we are in a position to accommodate a solution to the Rangers F.C. scenario. We are trying to achieve a solution which will be in the best interests of The Scottish Football League and the wider game.

  29. I think we, as Celtic supporters, have been expecting this blatant display of Machiavellianism for quite a while. Whilst I applaud the supporters of the provincial clubs for standing up to a Newco in the SPL I doubt if their moral integrity will stretch to saying no to a share of money that does not belong to them –EG a percentage of money generated from the sale of season tickets to Celtic fans.

Just because we need other teams to enable us to play football does not mean Celtic fans have to pay toward the upkeep of every other team in Scotland, it is a ludicrous idea. How they could legally endorse this is questionable and would be open to all sorts of legal challenges. Now if they want a percentage of the money generated through sales of away tickets to the travelling support I would not have a problem with that. The more fans that travel away the more money the club receives. However this simply means that Celtic would be the main beneficiaries of any such plan so I can’t see this happening.

An equitable share of TV revenue – OK, perhaps sharing some of the money from TV coverage of European games –OK, percentage of gate receipts given to away team based on number of travelling support – OK. Sharing revenue from season book sales – NO WAY.

If the SPL, SFA or any conglomerate of money grabbing Capet baggers tries any underhand shenanigans or tries to take what does not belong to them remind them

“Beware, Beware of the thing that is coming, beware of the risen people

Added to that Sevco would, under these ludicrous proposals, take on the sporting penalties of RFC (deceased). Sevco FC therfore have to accept punishment for the following:

    1) The original offence which brought about their 1 year transfer embargo – when/if the Appellate body reconevene, the lightest sanction they can expect would be suspension from the Scottish Cup.

    2) Taking the SFA to a civil court – FIFA looking closely at this one and expect punishment which could/should be suspension from all football for one year.

    3) The prima faciae case of operating dual contracts and, as a result, fielding ineligible players. UEFA and other countries’ football associations will be watching.

    ———————————————————————————

Here’s my take on it for what it’s worth. See if you can spot the common denominator.

    1) When/if the Apellate body reconvene expelling them from the Scottish Cup is not an option on it’s own since it was already considered as a punishment but deemed to be to light a sentence for such a grave offence.

In saying that maybe it could be used in addition to a further punishment handed down. Wouldnt suprise me sincePetrie and co will be desperate to find Sevco a get out clause.

    2) Cant see what else they can do without risking the wrath from FIFA. But you can bet your last thin dime Petrie and co will do everything in their power to get Sevco off on a technicality.

    3) Disagree. I doubt UEFA wont to get involved and will be happy enough so long as some form of punishment is handed down. Stripping titles must follow if found guilty but again Petrie and co will do everything in their power to ensure Celtic dont gain anything from this.
