Gang of 10 plan creates 41 winners and only one loser

983

Q. There will be 12 teams in the SPL next season.  How many do you think stand to gain from the redistribution of income proposed by the Gang of 10?

A. 11.

Q. There will be 30 teams in the SFL next season.  How many do you think stand to gain from the redistribution of income proposed by the Gang of 10?

A. 30.

Although TV and commercial money will be diluted, it is a sideshow compared to the real cash cow remaining in Scottish football, the gate money at Celtic Park.  The Gang of 10 refused to exclude this option from their proposed change in voting rights.

A 20% share of gate money doesn’t have sufficient support from SPL clubs, too many losers.  A 30% gate share only has one loser, everyone else wins, including the club who took 87 fans to a league game at Celtic Park last season.

This is nothing to do with Sevco, who are unlikely to pull a financially viable plan together (although the SPL and SFA are still trying).  You’re being asked to open your wallets and pay for the upkeep of 42 stadiums, squads, boards of directors and kit men.

This is not a viable plan.  It’s time for Scottish football to admit defeat.  Sport has been subverted for over a decade to the point there is nothing left.  We can keep Hampden and the national team going, but there is no viable league structure.  The sooner we accept this and move on the better.

    Here’s mad idea. If the other teams want to split the gate money they money generated by away fans should go to the away team. Seems fair to me.

  4. The situation with Fraser Forster and the keeper post at Celtic is Carouselambra. I can’t understand why such big club depends on young man’s will ?

    Isaksson might be for off at PSV. They have Polish Przemyslaw Tyton as the first choice.

  5. It was obvious right from the start that if the huns were out of the SPL the other 11 clubs would use the situation to their advantage.

    I don’t understand why people are surprised.

    The one way to stop, or reverse, the idea of shared gate money is to have the huns back in the SPL and restore the Old Firm.

    I think Celtic could offer that at Celtic Park as a concession, without asking for it to be applied across the board.

    Interesting lead by Paul on the BBC revelations.

    I’m fairly comfortable about it, Celtic have the largest Season Ticket holding in the country, they wouldn’t be able to take any of that I would suggest.

    They have tried to fix the NewCO Phoenix for months without success, this latest farcical fudge has less chance than the previous ones me thinks.

    However

    The fact that the so called authorities are persisting with these shams is certainly disconcerting, why do these men continue to conspire?

    What are they so frit about that an open, transparent process implementing the rules and regulations in a fair manner is the last thing they’ll do?

    Desperate men can be dangerous, that is why it is essential that we have the likes of Paul to shine the light in these dark recesess, Celtic are not known for their counter attaking but it is a skill we may need to develop.

  26. So this morning we are told that not having NewTeam in Div 1 will be financially catastrophic for Scottish football. If that’s the case why was it not financially catastrophic each and every year until now, when there was none of the proposed revenue sharing?

    Just how stupid do these people think we are? Apart from anything else, they’re clearly not learning the biggest lesson from this whole saga and that’s that a concerned and motivated group of people will dig up and analyse the truth of any situation with far greater speed and depth than any of hte major parties involved.

    It’s got to stop.

  27. Ernie – I agree. Been saying for a while – let the away club sell whatever number of tickets Celtic agree to give them at the start of each season (which would be based on previous numbers turning up plus a certain number over this to allow for a club like Hearts or Aberdeen having a good run and bringing a bigger support. For atmosphere and entertainment I’d be quite happy to see thousands of Dons fans at the ground in a top of the table clash. Hearts? Not so much…….

    A message to all Chairman being harassed and threatened and intimidated…

    If you can keep your head when all about you

    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

    But make allowance for their doubting too:

    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

    Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

    Or being hated don’t give way to hating,

    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

    If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,

    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

    And treat those two impostors just the same:.

    If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

    And stoop and build’em up with worn-out tools;

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings

    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

    And lose, and start again at your beginnings,

    And never breathe a word about your loss:

    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

    To serve your turn long after they are gone,

    And so hold on when there is nothing in you

    Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,

    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

    If all men count with you, but none too much:

    If you can fill the unforgiving minute

    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

    Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
