Gang of 10 plan creates 41 winners and only one loser

983

Q. There will be 12 teams in the SPL next season.  How many do you think stand to gain from the redistribution of income proposed by the Gang of 10?

A. 11.

Q. There will be 30 teams in the SFL next season.  How many do you think stand to gain from the redistribution of income proposed by the Gang of 10?

A. 30.

Although TV and commercial money will be diluted, it is a sideshow compared to the real cash cow remaining in Scottish football, the gate money at Celtic Park.  The Gang of 10 refused to exclude this option from their proposed change in voting rights.

A 20% share of gate money doesn’t have sufficient support from SPL clubs, too many losers.  A 30% gate share only has one loser, everyone else wins, including the club who took 87 fans to a league game at Celtic Park last season.

This is nothing to do with Sevco, who are unlikely to pull a financially viable plan together (although the SPL and SFA are still trying).  You’re being asked to open your wallets and pay for the upkeep of 42 stadiums, squads, boards of directors and kit men.

This is not a viable plan.  It’s time for Scottish football to admit defeat.  Sport has been subverted for over a decade to the point there is nothing left.  We can keep Hampden and the national team going, but there is no viable league structure.  The sooner we accept this and move on the better.

Wrong tense, surely?. We have not yet been punished. these are proposals- they can be stopped. You do not always need to look for the Big Man/ Strong Leader to win fights for you. Our fans are big and bright and organised enough to oppose those measures we agree to oppose.

  7. Well…..there you go. The revelations yesterday about our casino banks and the way they are rigged…..the language used in the reporting of it all was eerily reminiscent of the scandal exposed by rankers misdeeds.

It (rankers fiasco) is a reflection of the corruption currently raging through UKplc. It directly relates to the markets being given completely free rein in the early 80’s and the elevation of ‘voodoo economics’. How else could Minty Moonbeams be ‘allowed’ to use a national bank as his own private cash cow? It was only the bursting of the bubble that exposed his fraudulent [alleged] financial doping of football.

As with the emerging scandal in the banking ‘industry’ (and there’s a lot more to come) the perfect storm that is rfc (defunct) is still gathering pace.

In this light, the compromised individuals at the apex of Scottish footballing governance must resign.

Die Hunnen denied direct SPL entry

On the cards as we know. However it does send a clear message to the Chairpersons of the lower divisions that they have been refused entry for ethical reasons, not financial. Given that the reasoning of the SPL chairmen is clear, why do the intelligentsia of Scorporation Fitba, insist on strong arm tactics on the chair’s of the lower divisions? It seems everyone, bar these fools, are quite clear that football has to move forward from this point, clean and with integrity.

Trying to facilitate a move into Div 1 for a team that does not exist, smacks of auld allegiances or perhaps auld secrets yet to be outed.

We will be punished because the board of the ONLY superpower in Scottish Football didn’t tell all the clubs how it was going to be or else they would feel the force of the backlash as they would not cooperate with any SPL and SFA media and sponsorship deals, take any away tickets and demand that the UK only have one Football Association and League set up to UEFA and FIFA.

    I’ll catch your reply later.

My point was that other SPL clubs cannot grab season book money from our plc during this season as the money was advanced, in good faih, by Celtic fans who expected current financial arrangements to stand i.e. That Celtic would get the money.

Now, why would our plc vote that money away, given their record of financial prudence? I fail to see what’s in it for them?

  16. Rangers becomes a pub team

    29-06-12

SCOTTISH football chiefs are forcing Rangers to start again as a pub team following their financial difficulties.

Rangers will relocate to a flat-roofed council estate boozer as their new base of operations, and recruit players from the local tower blocks by enticing them out of the stairwells with a football covered in smack.

Early scouting trips have uncovered a promising 19-year-old who will train for eight hours at a time and is equipped with a ferociously tenacious tackle so long as he’s given a bottle of Buckfast and a tube of Uhu at the end of the day.

SFA spokesman Tom Logan said: “This could be a fresh new start for the club – if it turns out they have a better quiz team than their football side that could be the direction they end up heading in.

“Given that most of the kids in Glasgow University are called things like Tara and Gideon rather than Janey or Wee Fucka that’s doubtful but, y’know, dare to dream.”

Rangers’ new pub, The Red Hand & Luther, was bought with the proceeds of selling off Ibrox to a consortium of Celtic fans who intend to turn it into the world’s largest urinal. The pub’s manager, Bampot, will take control of the club’s day to day affairs after ousting Ally McCoist with the help of a pool cue.

Their first fixture of the new season will be against The Pope’s Head, a rival pub located 50 feet from their new home across a stretch of road the United Nations have deemed the most dangerous piece of tarmac outside of Afghanistan.

Logan added: “Rangers could soon be back amongst the big names of Scottish football provided they get themselves a really good physio and some comprehensive fire insurance.”

  17. I imagine Celtic will be taking a big financial hit with no ranglers games .

From a blinkered business point of view they (the board) might well want a ranglers type team back in the SPL asap.

  18. Lads i’ll be honest i wanted our board to come out but i’ve listened to other posters on here and i will wait until it’s the right time.

  20. The Battered Bunnet on

From the SFL (plus SFA&SPL) circular to SFL clubs yesterday, a few random thoughts.

    2. RANGERS TO THIRD DIVISION

•Commercial partners walk away and seek compensation

Which imbecile signed a contract that was not only not binding, but triggered compensation in the event that there was no Rangers team participating in the given sponsored competition? Really clever.

•The sporting opportunity is quashed for other clubs

Someone’s going to have to explain that one to me I’m afraid.

    5. RANGERS TERMINATED OR SUSPENDED

    •Complete financial meltdown

According to Stewart Regan’s Blueprint for the future of the Game in Scotland, there will be complete financial meltdown if Rangers are suspended from the game. I had to read that twice last night and again this morning to understand its significance. With the SFA having a pending decison to suspend or expel Rangers, and the SPL having no choice but to expel them for corrupting the competition since its inception, it is clear that the rules of the Game cannot be applied to Rangers without ‘financial meltdown’. Accordingly, it is proposed by the Governing Bodies that the Rules of the Game are not applied.

This is profound stuff. The Rules of the Game cannot be applied to Rangers.

When did this epiphany occur? Last week? Last month? What about the summer of 2010? Or 2009? It is clear to most of us that Rangers’ financial implosion would have occured anytime following the demise of the Murray Group, and required only Rangers to miss out on Champions League revenue. First time it occured, Rangers went down, and stayed down.

For how long have the Rules of the Game been inapplicable to the team that now carries the mantle “Greatest Cheats in Sporting History” alongside membership of “Top 10 Biggest Bankruptcies in Scottish Business”? To what extent did the inability or unwillingness of the Governing Bodies to apply the Rules of the Game to Rangers contribute to their behaviour and subsequent demise?

With Rangers Directors implementing the various Registration and Tax scams while simultaneously serving as Directors of the Governing Bodies over many years, and indeed the current SFA President not only implementing one huge scam but benefiting from it, ought we be surprised if the Rules of the Game have been inapplicable to Rangers for a decade?

**SO WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE BEING ASKED TO CONSIDER? **

•Rangers in the IRN-BRU First Division this coming season

•A one off fee to buy out the Rangers media value. (£1million) thus protecting the current contracts in place.

OK, so the SPL clubs will give the SFL clubs £1M for accomodating Sevco in SFL1 for a season. These same SPL clubs who declare financial crisis with Rangers’ demise. Why are they handing the SFL clubs £1M?

Doh! they’re not. What they propose is that the distribution model for the SPL’s central revenues is changed such that the Champion club gets less. About a Million pounds less I’d guess.

If the SFL clubs accept the offer, Rangers will play in SFL1 next sesson, with 2 chances of promotion: Finishing first and winning automatic promotion; Or finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th and getting a playoff place. (It’s a cinch that if they fail the leagues will be restructured anyway)

Without a 1st division place, Sevco will be consigned to years in the football wilderness. it will be 2015/16 earliest before they are in the top flight again.

To prevent this, the SPL clubs are prepeared to gift £1M to the SFL. £1M of Celtic’s turnover.

In effect, Charles Green’s disastrous investment in Rangers is to be underwritten by Celtic to the tune of £1Million. The irony is the least of it.

    Finally…

BENEFITS TO THE SCOTTISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE

•Scottish Government remain committed to our community strategy

Am I reading this correctly? If the SFL Clubs vote in favour of the proposal, the Scottish Government will continue to fund the SFL’s community programme. It doesn’t say the Scottish Government will withdraw this funding if the clubs reject the proposals, but it’s a reasonable inference to draw.

Would someone in the press like to clarify that with the Scottish Government? I think it is rather important.

I have been hugely encouraged by the reaction of the overwhelming number of fans from all clubs over the whole Sevco disgrace. The mobilisation and movement of consensus has been instrumental in determining the position of the SPL clubs. I am looking now to the supporters of the SFL clubs to bring similar influence. It will be hugely gratifying for this Scot if the Scottish people insist on meritocracy over narrow interest.

  26. The Scottish government has said it is considering legislation to limit the “huge cost implications” for policing Orange walks.

The marches create “significant issues” for police and politicians, Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill told MSPs.

But he said it was important any legislation did not limit other “innocuous” organisations such as the Boys’ Brigade.

About 300 Orange parades took place last year in Glasgow alone.

Speaking at Holyrood, SNP backbencher Humza Yousaf suggested the cost of policing Glasgow’s Orange walks should not come solely from police budgets.

He asked Mr MacAskill: “With almost 300 Orange parades taking place last year in Glasgow alone, during times of financial restraint, doesn’t the minister agree that perhaps we need to think of measures whereby the cost of keeping the public safe does not fall solely on civic police?”

Mr Yousaf has previously raised concerns about the review of a ban on Orange walks and other processions playing music outside places of worship such as chapels, synagogues and mosques in Glasgow.

    ‘Right balance’

Answering Mr Yousaf’s question, Mr MacAskill recalled the 1,800 officers deployed to police an Apprentice Boys march in 2007 while Strathclyde Police were dealing with the fallout from the terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport.

Mr MacAskill revealed that the cost of policing such marches and parades in Glasgow was discussed with the Association of Scottish Police Superintendents on 19 June and again with Strathclyde Police Assistant Chief Constable Bernard Higgins, in the context of the jubilee weekend marches.

He said: “These are fundamentally matters of balance. We have to ensure, in terms of the legislation, that the Boys’ Brigade march and other innocuous matters are not caught when we seek to take action against matters that have huge cost implications.

“Fundamentally, they are for local authorities but we have made it quite clear as an administration: while we recognise the right of individuals, even where we disagree with what they are protesting, to take that opportunity we have to take into account a whole variety of matters including the police.”

It is the important to “get the right balance between the right of people to march and demonstrate and the right of communities to be protected and not face significant costs and challenges to their police who have others things to do as well as simply look after the interests and desires of a small minority.”
