Managers often have the task of focussing players’ attention on the next game, instead of an important subsequent game a few days later, but Brendan Rodgers has an additional task in this respect right now.
You only need to speak to a fellow Celtic fan this week to understand what’s on all of our minds. Two games over the next four days will make a significant impression on the season, but there is no certainty what the squad will look like when the second match takes place. The closure of the transfer window in a little over 48 hours will loom just as large as Sunday’s league encounter with Newco.
This is where the manager earns his wages. While tomorrow’s game against Suduva should present a straightforward challenge, you and I remember another Scottish team, no longer with us, going out of Europe to Lithuanian opposition just months after competing in the Uefa Cup Final.
Get them ready to run through walls for you, Brendan.

LEFTBACKAGAIN,
Tomorrow is a walk over…..
If not, then Regan’s Armageddon will, unfortunately, come true…
Can you remember years ago someone posted on here we’d be the eventual losers of them going tit’s up?
Well, we’re NOWHERE near that….
CELTIC
Somebody please explain to me,what control Celtic have over the timing of another clubs bids.Granted, webcould tell Lyon to GTF,but we have seen recently with Boyata, that doesnnot work for anyone.
Blaming Celtic for this is just more nonsense.
Thoughts flashing round my head
He has not gone yet
He has been injured more often than not
BR already said if we are not improving my job is done
PL need to get his finger out
Paul67 already placing pressure on BR with brick walls nonsense
Surely we wouldn’t sell without a replacement (naive I know)
Surely we will beat this mob tomorrow night
We cannot let huns get anything Sunday
I really am confused.

If we sold Moussa for £200million?
We would still not get it spent on players. Yer da especially knows how I feel tonight. Deja vu. In 50 years supporting Celtic, I cannae remember us strengthening on from a position of strength.

God bless you G.

It’s not the timing of any bid that matters. We have all known that this day would come but PL and the board chose not to plan for it and decided not to strengthen the team.
“We keep saying it but we want to come out every transfer window stronger than we’ve gone in.”
Just keep reminding yourself of that.
Turkeybhoy
If our CEO is so good why has this day not been planned for with suitable recruitment. Moussa going was always on the cards but IMO if we had strengthened and Brendan was visibly happy I doubt anyone would be critical at this time. As it is Peter has expletives up!!!

If, Moussa goes, good luck young man, but, you’ll never replace the feeling of hurt when Kenny Dalglish left.
Only advice I would give (cos I was a far better player than you) is, eclipse KD and enjoy life…
Hail Hail Young Man or, as we say in the Calton, Bienvenue, Arrivederci, and, get it right Roon Ye….

Celtic’s transfer ‘policy’ 2018
Not that bothered about Moussa leaving.
If he was fit and playing all the time I would be devastated .
If we get £22.5 m it is a no brainer.I just hope we spend it wisely on quality no more fkn loans.Total waste of Celtics time and money imo.

I’ll be very interested if we spent it wisely with two days to go.
That might have been worth thinking about when CL qualification was on offer.
“We keep saying it but we want to come out every transfer window stronger than we’ve gone in.”
TURKEYBHOY – I don’t recall being too much the other side of your opinions – so no offence intended, but I can’t agree with your view of this – even if taken in isolation of the rest of this window’s squad ‘improving’ activities.
We are continuing with what seems to be a policy of weakening the Celtic 1st team – that’s all that is important at this time. The reasons – financial (doesn’t seem to make sense), incompetence, poor planning, arrogance of the CEO, or whatever other reasons that have been suggested – are difficult to fathom.
I could see the point with doing business with Boyata who is on a short-term contract, but there is no reason to sell Dembele now. It does nothing other than weaken Celtic and strengthen the chances of our opponents.
I can see no obvious positive in this for us – any logical reason that has been expressed so far bears little scruitiny.
25 million euro sitting in our already healthy bank account won’t result in another “Whit’s the Goalie Daein’ Tom?” moment for Celtic fans.
What it may do is deprive us of an equalising or winning goal in a tight game against The Rangers or Aberdeen – and that is a very obvious negative for us.
We – no one else but Celtic – are lessening our chances of winning the league; I don’t see how anyone can possibly argue with that assertion.
It is rank bad management.

Thoughts and prayers with you’re family
My own personal view
mousse would have been sold in Jan 19 – might still if an English club comes in with an exceptional package for Moussa to consider ?
It’s what our club does now in next 48hrs
Incidentally I would also accept a realistic offer for the Belgian
Remember that time Paul67 said we’d to sit back and enjoy this transfer window because it was going to be fun? We all get things wrong but the arrogance of some of the recent articles has been incredible. We have two days left to sort this farce or there will be blood on the carpet.
I have no idea if the MD bid is for real, if it is it’s great business and should have been planned for.
Problem is it’s not looking like it.
CQN as has been said is a board loving site, say anything against the board and the attack dogs are down your throat quicker than the heated driveway can melt the ice, I have been reading a few posts stating that Peter Lawwell’s position is untenable, not unless DD says so, but if the feeling on the other supporters blogs are anything to go by, the Kev J scenario of empty grounds may well come to fruition, then the club has a real big problem.
We are a football club, really we are, hard to believe I know but there you go.
Who will prevail, the balance sheet or the football team, I honestly wouldn’t like to speculate, I didn’t for a split nano second think the scum would die and they did, or did they.
So the bid just came in for Dembele, did it ?And santa is real to
It’s not the selling of Moussa in isolation.
It’s the selling of Moussa along with;
Failure to sign Piccini
Failure to sign McGinn
Failure to deal with Boyata
Poor recruitment in January
That has led us to this almighty shambles.

Deja vu…Scunnered
==================
Sums it up.
Even if we spend all of the Dembele money tomorrow or Friday (stop that sniggering), it is still rank bad planning and resource management.
We have already put a self-inflicted dent in this season – both from a football perspective and – if that’s your thing – a financial one.
Yes – we cannot stop people making bids for our players – the previous good planning in terms of contract-length means that we don’t have to accept them.
Yes – deja-vu and scunnered – that’s about it.

Sorry to see Moussa go (if true) but what a fantastic piece of business by PL and BR. Odsonne is a ready made replacement at a fraction of the cost and we will no doubt see his value raise to over 20mil in a couple of years. We will also see Leigh get more game time if he can stay fit which is a good thing for the team.
Where will the great Celtic journey take us next ? Down a blind alley or on to the fast lane of a freeway?
Probably neither, but the next 48 hours will be interesting. Nytol.
From @BraidenGB
@Bart1nMa1n From reliable source last night: Oh by the way I’m told, Rodgers named two centre halves he wanted at Christmas, accepted Hendry as a stop gap as long as the two came in at start of window. Nothing happened hence, he’s off.
Be very interested in Brendan’s comments over the next two days.
I’m not hopeful.
But, hey ho, “We keep saying it but we want to come out every transfer window stronger than we’ve gone in.”

Aye ok. Give you all great Celts there. My favourite of that bunch was Tom McAdam. His brother Colin rip and Tom grew up in Kingsway flats beside me. Two lovely guys.

New deal for Ollie
Rodgers also confirmed that Celtic are in talks with Olivier Ntcham, the French midfielder who had attracted the interest of Portuguese club Porto, about improved terms and stated there was no prospect of him leaving in this transfer window.
“There was interest in Olivier but we sat down with him and his representatives and talked through the plan,” he said. “He’s been here one year and it shows the development he’s had with the interest shown in him.
“We’re not ready to sell. When we took Olivier here there was a plan for him and his situation has come up a little bit early than what we’d have thought. He and his representatives are in discussions about a new deal so hopefully that could be finalised soon.”

If that comes to pass there will still be a cacophony of positivity towards our CEO on here. In fact they will continue to celebrate his every passing bowel movement as the second coming.

Peter Lawwell will be a guest on Gordon Ramsay’s new cookery programme, Bake Off or Feck Off where he will show viewers how to make a fecking omelette with a golden egg… :-)
If we lose Dembele and Boyata over the head of our gaffer then I suspect he’ll be off after Sunday. But sure we’ll have the interim accounts to look forward to.

THE HANDS CANT HIT WHAT THE EYES CANT SEEon 29TH AUGUST 2018 8:35 PM
That is what makes this transfer window so perplexing.
In the absence of an explanation from Celtic then the conclusions that will fill the vacuum are either
a) Our finances are not as good as we believe
b) gross incompetence
c) a reduction in standards to make the domestic game more competitive.
None are good news so we are unlikely to get an explanation which is just as bad.
