Gilmour bitterness towards Lawwell evident

645

If you were in any doubt about what we’re up against when it comes to developing Scottish football, former St Mirren chairman, Stewart Gilmour’s incoherent rant in one of today’s newspapers, that Peter Lawwell is running Scottish football, paints a clear picture for you.

Peter Lawwell’s club, your club, PAYS for Scottish football. Fans of this club pour millions into the bank accounts of others from Dingwall to Kilmarnock. Those same clubs earn TV money and trackside advertising to viewers who tune in to see that very same club play football.

Each SPFL and SFA member club has only one vote, and Peter Lawwell is out-voted and frustrated on many issues. What he brings to the table is experience of the game, business, commercial contracts, risk and strategy that no one else in our game has ever enjoyed.

He will be the person who brings evidence-based insight into the value of our game’s commercial properties. This is not because Peter Lawwell is some unassailable guru, he simply has experience of running a business which is greater in depth and scope than anyone else in the history of Scottish football. The fair-minded acknowledge this and are thankful for it.

If your skillset is more suited to a bowling club committee than a business turning over tens of millions of pounds, and you have an unfortunate attitude towards Celtic representatives, all this might rub you up the wrong way.

You may think the last person you want illuminating Scottish football is some educated ******. Believe me, these attitudes persist in our game.

Gilmour, you will remember, was in charge of St Mirren when Charles Green (then the darling of Ibrox), was invited to New St Mirren Park for a Celtic game. They all wanted a piece of Peter then, but there was no courtesy offered from the Celtic contingent on the day.

This is a call to arms by those who want to encourage clubs to obstruct Celtic in every way possible. Peter Lawwell is their bogeyman. They are still sore that they didn’t turnover Celtic (and the rest of Scottish football) in 2012, and they blame Peter for not getting what they wanted.

Now there is a fresh reality to worry about: Celtic making their own way in the world, with the consent of Scottish football. Others will find their place in the game, while one club would wither on the vine without Celtic to feed off.

I hear congratulations are in order. well done.

How did your young lady take the news that the reception will be held at the Kerrydale Bar, and that the honeymoon will be in May in Lisbon? :)

  2. I don’t think it’s 10 in a row they fear. It’s the 3 that will follow and take us to 55 before them. They’re so scared of that that they dare not even speak of it. All efforts will be made to stop the 10.

    Lisbon Anniversaries…..

It’s great some folk are heading out to Lisbon probably quite a few who were actually there on that sunny evening in May.

It got me thinking about my own celebration and that I should revisit the scene of my viewing of the greatest event. Of course knocking the door of an end terrace in Garrowhill and expecting the equivalent of Frank Kelly to let me in, supply me with unlimited supplies of American Cream soda and as many packets of crisps as a boy could eat……? A bit of a long shot!

But I did get me thinking of how many reenactments of where most Celtic fans were could be completed….How many front rooms, how many pubs, how many clubs and church halls? Maybe there is a challenge there for photos to be posted on dedicated blogs, or even on the official Celtic site!

Another thought (well seeing I can’t sleep tonight) July 2017 is the 20th anniversary of the day one Henrik Edward Larsson signed for us. Perhaps Celtic could mark this milestone by modelling a change strip for season 2017/2018 on the Swedish Flag colours of pale blue and yellow?

    Just a thought…….

Listened to Superscoreboard last night, it was all about St Mirren, most of the callers were followers of the Buddies too.

The programme was really enjoyable, from a football perspective .

  8. The lengths to which a couple of lawyers in a court of law are going to to avoid mentioning the word “liquidation” in respect of Rangers Football Club is truly a damning indictment of what kind of country Scotland really is.

Why does the guy who put on the bet not just re-produce all the – ahem – “evidence” from the SFA, UEFA, etc who – ahem – “stated” that they are the same club?

I mean there IS evidence of this, isn’t there…..?

  10. GLASSTWOTHIRDSFULL-a minor case like this ,could blow the lid off all the lies and cover ups,Reagan and Doncaster will be bricking it…..

Agree , case should have been they were not relegated but entered administration then were liquidated as HMRC rejected a CVA, under no way of thinking was this relegation, they ceased to exist. How their [Corals] QC did not use this defence is unbelievable, a bit like the HMRC QC at the FTTT who would not say that the scheme operated by Rangers 1872 was a sham.

  18. Had a wee “discussion” this afternoon with a Jambo who argued that Kinloch should get his many.

    “Why?” said I.

    “They were relegated.”

    “No they weren’t.”

    “Of course they were.”

“Ok,” I said. “Why were they relegated?”

    “How do you mean?”

“What position in the league were they at the end of the season?”

    “Second.”

“Correct. So why were they relegated, as you see it?”

    “Cos they had a vote?”

“But they already had a points deduction for going into administration. Why then have a vote?”

“To decide if they could stay in the premier league.”

“But they finished second. Why the need for a vote? If Hearts had finished outside the relegation spot after going into administration, would they have stayed up?”

“There would have probably been a vote.”

“Why? They were punished with the points deduction. Why punish Hearts twice?”

“Ok,” he was struggling now. “They had a vote just because it was Rangers.”

“But there was no rule that says if a club goes into administration and is deducted the 15 points and still avoids relegation, they have to vote for them to stay up.”

    “I know that.”

“So why didn’t Rangers lawyers state there was no rule and stop the vote?”

    “How do I know?”

“I’ll tell you,” said I. “Because the vote wasn’t about relegating Rangers. It was about stopping the new club from starting life in the top division.”

    “You lot are obsessed.”

    Game, set and match.

Hi fella’s, hope yeez are both well – Hail Hail

    Anyway,…..

MWD – Mo said back in May last year when he was in Scotland to work for the tv during the SCSF when Ronny’s Cellic were put out by the died(LOL) huns that, MO – “Celtic paraded me as a new signing when I hadn’t even signed any documentation but, we had had initial talks then, when my tax issue of £150,000 couldn’t be dealt with by Celtic…the deal broke down. Then later on I signed for RFC who could deal with my outstanding tax issues.”

    Only saying…..Hail Hail

CRC – As above, is what I understand to be the case with the Judas issue. As for the Kelly’s and White’s running the club today…I never said that. What I was alluding to was that, since the club changed hands in 1994 and became – The Celtic Football Club – the PLC narrative has been along the lines of, the Old Firm ‘must’ be maintained at ‘all’ costs….even if it costs us our soul. Is that a price worth paying so that some £billionaires can dine out on their reputations of being the main shareholders of the club ?

The Kelly’s and White’s wurny £billionaires and, because of this, I believe that the Kelly’s and White’s would have hurt more from the huns cheating / mibbery / tax evasion etc….and, would have done something about it….like, theaten to walk out of Scottish Football and, bring the issue of the Scottish Footballing Rangers FC accommodating masonic cabal…onto the world stage by calling a ‘national’ media conference – not a parochial West Of Scotland Orange / Masonic media conference – and, at long last drag the genie out the bottle. Ye see, there are too many rich kids using the Cellic as a toy. Make it the Glasgow Cellic and get the Irish Mafia PLC tae feck….imho

I’m going to stop typing now and, go and take my keep the MODERATOR away tablets.

    God Bless.

Said it before and I’ll say it again, my respect for the man diminished greatly that night when in the main stand of our own ground, he fed us line after line of lies and speculation to pressure us into voting to give the board the go ahead to keep Rangers in the SPL then looked on like a disappointed father when some of us had the temerity to disagree with the standpoint he was making.
