Gladbach season hits crunch week

364

Borussia Monchengladbach slipped to exactly mid-table in the Bundesliga on Saturday after giving 10-man Hamburg their second point of the season. On Wednesday we are still going to face a team vastly superior to anyone we will face in domestic football this season, but the visitors will not be as confident travelling to Glasgow as they were when the draw was made back in August.

Like Celtic, Borussia would not have fancied their chances of progressing to the knock out stage after their opening group game, but they now have to concern themselves more with becoming competitive against in Germany. That prospect isn’t about to get any easier, as after Celtic on Wednesday they travel to face Bayern Munich on Saturday.

All of this will feed into how Borussia approach the game. A point would allow them to take their head-to-head competition with Celtic back to Germany with hopes of finishing at least in the Europa League spot.

Celtic were not at their most fluid against Motherwell on Saturday (a significant sign when a 2-0 win can be described in that manner), but Brendan Rodgers will be clear in his game plan for Wednesday – press high, as we did against Manchester City last month.

It’s going to be a night which will require every ounce of strength from a packed Celtic Park. I’ve spoken to several Celtic managers and players about the impact the crowd can have in European nights. If we’re up for it, this one is there for us.

There’s a Family Fanzone at George Square from 13:00 on Wednesday afternoon.  Players will appear at 14:00 with club legends there at 16:00 and activities throughout the afternoon.  With the October break it’s an excellent opportunity to get into town and get into the mood early.

  1. Philbhoy: I am using adblockerplus on iPhone with no problems.

My iPad won’t let me download adblocker as I don’t have an up-to-date iOS and it won’t let me update to a newer version.

I have no idea what the problem is on the PC.

However, it all points to issues within CQN as all other sites operate with no problems.

  2. STV tonight .Story of Celtic finally paying living wage .

Am I right to assume that EVERY other professional club in Scotland ALREADY pay the living wage ?

I’m not defending Celtic in any way, but I would have thought that whilst reporting on Celtic, why not shame any other club for STILL NOT paying the living wage , if indeed Celtic are the last club to step in line as it were ?

I am a complete Luddite when it comes to computers, however, I only had problems with CQN, no other website.

W can discuss further when the Café is up and running.

(That should gie me long enough to get up to speed!)

Download malwarebytes (free version) & run scan

    Use Chrome and install adblockerplus

It isnt solely CQN or we would all have the issue.

I, too, have been experience problems accessing CQN on a tablet – keeps trying to refresh and freezing. On PC doesn’t allow updating pages.

    No problems on other sites.

Think it may be signal problems caused by the construction work in building of the new cafe next to the Superstore. HH

  11. On the subject of matchday songs. I wish the stadium announcer would ditch the utterly depressing “Let the People Sing” from the matchday experience. It is depressing and has been played at every home game, sometimes 3 times, for decades.

    Enough is enough.

You can’t compare CQN to ebay you’d need to do a comparison against smaller sites that need ad revenue

I can’t say I am up on wines from Portugal, I don’t think I have tried that many, it’s Spanish or Spanish wine here, on occasion the likes of Lidl will do a special on Italian or French but it’s expensive, foreign wines are taxed to the hilt.

My point is the CST represent one group but there are more than one and the ability of the CEO to deal with each group or individuals on an individual basis is itself a cause of miscommunication. What may be true at meeting A can change by meeting C. Does that make what was said at A a lie? The folk at A might well think so. Ineffective communication.

In dealing with numbers you get a greater perspective on issues and as no individual including the CEO has the full perspective it is only in sharing them that a true consensus can be reached.

I set out that case personally to PL over three years ago and the introduction of the SLO, a UEFA dictate, offered an opportunity to move from that ineffective arrangement and that is to be welcomed in my view.

The problem with the one to one is it is trust with a small “t” based and that is not easy to maintain in the A to C scenario I quoted.

There is always the worry that in such a one to one scenario the individual or group is being treated as a mushroom. In fact is that not what you have suggested in the past PL was doing on Res12 or is that OK because you have one to one contact where you are happy he doesn’t?

The other problem is how does it work if a new CEO is appointed (and that day cannot be too far off for many reasons that are in the best interest of Celtic and PL as the years pass.)

What if a new CEO prefers another way of communicating? Who would take your views to if there was no new arrangement.?

As I said things are changing and for the better on the communication front and let the new times roll.
