I am sure you have many great Scottish Cup final memories. For me the best was Airdrieonians, twice. My earliest memory of attending a final was the 1975 win, Kenny Dalglish, Paul Wilson and Pat McCluskey. Watched big Billy and Jinky emerge from Hampden with the trophy after the game.
Then, of course, there was that huge final in 1995. Six years without a trophy, Celtic were at their lowest point in decades and had already lost a final to Raith Rovers that season. Beating Airdrieonians in that final is one of the most important victories in Celtic history.
By any measure, apart from Scottish Cups, Hibs are the fifth biggest team in Scotland, yet they haven’t won the Cup in 110 years. Since then the Wright brothers headed to Kitty Hawk and tried to get ‘Flyer’ off the ground for the first time in history and Teddy Rosevelt made history by becoming the first US president to ride in a motor car.
If they can pull a good 90 minutes together today, Hibs might become the first club in Scottish footballs’ rebirth. They have reclaimed thousands of fans in recent weeks and are proof that there is life outside Glasgow.
Good luck to them.

Gies peace. They were rank. An absolute disgrace. Bayern were far the better team.
Bayern were at home in CL final,
They had chance after chance
They got a penalty in extra time
They got in front late on in normal time
Bayern had everthing in their favour but they just weren’t good enough.
Chelsea have been a strong CL team for a good number of years now. Having played Barcelona with 10 men for an hour in the Nou Camp they probably deserve it. Drogba is a very good player and Cech a great keeper
The format of the tournament has changed so much since we won it.

Aye, it was frustrating watching Bayern, they had several chances but fluffed them all. Was paying particular attention to Robben as his one goal win would have netted me £250. He was decent up front in creating the chances, but his own efforts were feeble bar two of them which were well defended. Just wasn’t to be their night which made it easy for the Chelski tactics to sneak the win and in a way we could easily predict, by one penalty, taken by Drobka.
horrible day of football. Didn’t expect wee huns to lose but it turned into a rout.
Thought chelsea would lose, but bayern were gutless wonders when it counted. Robben should take a look at himself, not for missing the pen – anyone can do that, but for his greed thereafter when he wasted chances in an attempt to redeem himself.
Chelsea are the worst euro champs ever. They were’t even the best team in tonight’s match, let alone the best team in europe. They have carried the luck of the devil.
Fortunes Favour Mibbes
Robben is on the take tonight

No Not at all.
Got Hectors mixed up with the only one I know of the actual name.

Cheers amigo. I had told the burd the same thing only to be put right. Also, she hates football but she actually watched it tonight and made more astute observations than me after I persuaded her to take up the free sky £10 bet. Now you see how stupid I am, can we keep this between you and me please? Ta. :))
The Spirit of Arthur Lee
That actually crossed my mind while watching, more than once, with more than one of them. The keeper near the end of first 90mins, pushing the ball back out to Chelski when he could easily have caught it…..about a dozen “skewed” shots between Ribbery and Robben. And now you remind me I read here earlier that BM would be better off by about £5M if they lost tonight. Hmmm. Money and football not a great mix….

Ha…There Kev started. Class act.

Easyy done. :o)
I think what that bunch of players did to their young manager AVB was a disgrace.
No amounts of cup wins thereafter can excuse their actions in the fitrst 6 months of the season

Are they dead yet?
Wonkyradar…..
You might be right that Bayern were the better team v Man Utd in 99 but they did not sit on their equaliser, they went for the winner.
Also the way Roy Keane brought them back from a 2-0 deficit in the semi final to win in Italy was incredible. Even though he knew he would not play in the final.
Are Chelsea after Steau Bucharest the worse team to win the bug cup.
Bjmac……..good luck ….
Off to bed early start in the morning….
Am not sure the cynicism re today’s football is that well placed. It’s become a victim of its own success, but at least some effort has been made to try and redress that by Platini and his FFP rules. Hopefully, we’ll see a significant change soon enough. There are many involved who love the game more than most. Mibbes Scottish hunnery has given us too negative an outlook on the rest of it?
Man City have already said they’ll spend big again this summer, there’s no chance that FFP will stop these clubs doing what they want.
Jinky’s a legend
Not on here mate.
the_huddle
But are Man City not one of the clubs openly flouting the FFP rules? There are many clubs who’ll be making their concerns known re this. I’m not offerin much of a solid argument here, but is it not similar to the cornered rat of hunnery? We see the extremes while the fix is being put in place? There are still several tax cases to be heard in England after the huns are fecked by FTT ruling.
Also big Sam back in the Greatest League in the world,Route 1
football is his forte.
Watching a fello Bankie Kevin Bridges, then off to bed.Goodnight
Cant believe Bayern never played Gomes…oh wait.
What an empty jersey, for 120mins.
I’ll put my tin hat on and say that Chelsea deserved their win tonight. BM were profligate and other words beginning with P. seriously dislike Chealsea but fair play they won.
I will no doubt regrett this and thanks to all the guys that commented on my memory lane post.

Sky is a landfill
Yep, Man City have been warned by UEFA that they aren’t meeting the FPP guidlines, Man City say they’ll continue to spend big in the summer. Guess who will win that argument.

i read your post earlier. Was a pleasure to read.
As I said earlier, no club in the World has the same culture / hatred as rankers…..the FA sorted out Chelsea many years ago, because they wanted to, unlike here…
Night all…..really enjoyed that game / occasion
Haven’t seen any bhun interlopers lately…..wonder why ?
Get over it Allan….

Aye, we’ll need to wait and see. But I think its worth bearin in mind that UEFA are representing 100s of other European clubs who are meeting the criteria.
Sky and the EPL are not as powerful as the UK meeja would have you think.
I understand what you’re saying, but I’m keeping a positive outlook on it.
It would seem that after a quick scan of the last hour or twos activity I’m less isolated in terms of the EC final as I’d thought

Looks like Jinky’s A Legend addressed your concerns ! Another post ready for deletion re Paddy McCourt. Stoopid hurtin huns !
You can win by spending millions (like Abramovich) or you can win by being part of a masonic superculture (like the huns) or you can win by standing for all that is right and honest in the game. We are Celtic.
Its nothing to do with Sky or the EPL, it’s pure money. Man City and Chelsea are so rich that I don’t think they care, my money is on the money men to win this battle. How do UEFA ban these teams if Barca and Real are up the eyeballs in debt, the FPP will fail big style.
Congratulations to Chelsea on their win tonight. Euro champs – who’d a thunk it. Went to see them a few times in the 60s and 70s when visiting my uncle who lived in Chelsea Manor Stree just off the Kings Road. Days of Bonetti, Osgood, Hollins and ‘Chopper’ Harris.
They’ve won a lot of kudos being the first London team to bring back the Champions League Trophy.
the_huddle
They’re not rich. They’ve got temporary owners chucking money away at their toy of the month. It’s a fad that’s already fading away. Now that Chelsea have won the big one, I’d be surprised if Ibramovic wasn’t gone within the next year.

Loved your earlier post.
Reaffirms that Celtic are all inclusive.
Best check my spelling in case gorbalstam is still about.

My brother in law has been a Chelsea fan since those days.
As Irish as they come.
Every time I read ” the London huns ” on here ,I cringe on his behalf.
Nothing really matters to me in football, unless Celtic are involved.I like to see Ireland do well, but i don’t really care that much.
Rugby? No interest whatsoever,Ulster,Leinster balleekz.Flicked over to see what the score was, every now and then.Hibs & Hertz? – i would loved to have seen the Hibees win,but once the rats went 3-1 up,i switched it back over to the racing channel.
CL Final? As God is my judge, missed most of the first & second halves because i was watching and gambling on the greyhound racing from Wimbledon.Had £50 on that goat Gomez to score the 1st goal, when it went into extra time,i put the match on – 12mins into the 1st period of extra time i had £100 on Chelsea to win after a penalty shoot-out @ 3/1.No emotion at all, even during the penalties, wanted ze Germans to win,but knew that other mob were carrying extraordinary levels of luck.
Stop letting other things bother yous,it’s none of our business…It’s no big deal…i don’t care who wins what,or who doesn’t.
I only worry about Celtic.
They are rich for now that’s all that matters, Man City might win the big one next year the record books will show Chelsea and maybe City as winners.
PSV are the worst Euro champs ever. If I remember correctly they never scored a goal in open play in the quarters, semis and final. Please feel free to jump in and correct me – tin hat on. Come on you stattos!
