  1. The sad truth of it is, we probably CAN win a treble playing that way.

I would expect us to significantly up our game against next weeks opponents though, and then realistically, we probably won’ t need to hit top gear to beat whoever we might meet in the final.

Scottish fitba’ is dire, and if it wasn’t for Celtic, I doubt I’d bother watching at all.

  2. I make it we are 3 points away from winning the league. Rangers and Aberdeen can get a maximum 77 points. We already have 75.

Once this league is won, especially if we can add the SC to it, the performance levels will be forgotten as quickly as the duller seasons during 9iar.

It is only in our rosy-coloured memories that every Celtic season was a procession of football with flair and large winning margins.

Brendan has done a good job in building a league winning team from young players.

    Aye right ya tube….

Positives today…..we won without playing at our best.

3 more nuffin each draws and its 7 in a row, ;-)

That was like walking football for over 50s.

    —————————————————————————————————

Hey you. I’m well over 50 and still play fives every week. I can assure you it’s a damn sight more entertaining than the pash on show today.

At one point today, the commentator trailed an upcoming match in the English Conference league. I thought I was already watching it.

No-one expected us to repeat the level of performance from the invincible season. Equally, no-one thought performance levels would decline as drastically as they have this season. Yes of course, we are still on course for historic back to back trebles but that says as much about the opposition in Scotland as it does about us. Something needs to change big time close season if we are to have any chance of qualifying for the CL group stages.

  5. glendalystonsils on

That pitch should be cut up to provide doormats for the needy.

Impossible to provide entertainment on it. Not that we attempted much entertainment. One cross from Paddy which Sinclair volleyed just wide, almost woke me up and reminded me of what football can be like.

  6. 3 points, job done, 7IAR nearly done. Couple of things that really annoyed me, Hamilton goal was a clear handball that was brushed over by the whole commentary panel whereas if that was a Celtic goal it would be forensicly dissected. Secondly the comment by that fud craigan that to send off the Hamilton player it has to be a really strong 2nd yellow ,FFS he grabbed KT by the neck and slung him to the ground, again if that was Broony I’m sure that would have been a strong enough 2nd yellow for hun craigan.

  7. Job done.

No surprise that the scoreline was closer than it could have been given Hamilton were handed an advantage that suited them being down to 10 men.

Celtic scored at the start when we needed to, and as pointed out CQN by SFTB and others football is the last thing your see in that stadium or pitch, even when Celtic roll up.

Another week of practice whilst Sevco are slotted in for Celtic Park when the league is already won making Hampden more important for the good of Scottish Football and where the frequency of the fixture, pleads with the law of averages as the establishment’s salvation.

We’d never heard of the law of averages a rule that works for level sporting occasions but never even worked out for Tommy Burns et all when Celtic faced EBT Rainjurz, time and time again in the cheating years.

Expect Celtic at full strength next week with legs Armstrong restored on the big grass pitch and Griffiths held back to do the same as he did today after Dembele softend up Sevco from the off. Lustig, Boyata and less possibly Simunovic to return along with Craig Gordon who’ll start for BR as they’ve been there and done it.

James Forrest is also a man in possession of the jersey and while Patrick Roberts has scores to settle at Hampden he will likely have to settle them from the bench.

Grey brigade probably succumbed to the performance today and are all asleep.

Copious amounts of black coffee keeping me awake.

  9. I’m absolutely delighted with today’s 3 points. I can’t wait to get title number 7 wrapped up. The performance was a bit turgid but lots of reasons for that. The pitch, Hamilton targeted Kieran today with some heavy tackles, none of our players played 100% flat out because they don’t want to risk injury for next week, the final games of the season or the Scottish Cup Final if we get there. They’ve also played a lot of games this season. Oh ……. did I mention the pitch.

    Well done Bhoys!

The blog ain’t broke, it’s just that a substantial number of posters are dissatisfied with the manner with which Celtic moved 13 points clear at the top of the table and being one win away from 7-in-a-row, to the point that they have disappeared up their own rectum and are presently unable to post.

    ;)

  11. For those blaming the pitch for the turgid play in today’s game, Sevco won 5-3 on the same pitch not so long ago. So it clearly is possible to play football on that pitch if there is a will to do so. I suspect that our players were mindful of staying injury free with a cup semi final waiting in the wings, and BR hammers into them about retaining possession, so they do as they are told.

The shooting stats are for mw a cause for concern though. Over the last 2 and a bit games Celtic have scored just twice from 51 attempts at goal. For comparison, Hamilton have scored twice from their last FIVE shots at goal, and even going back as far as their defeat to Sevco they have still managed a 20% scoring rate against shots at goal. If our supposedly vastly superior players could manage the same level of accuracy as the Hamilton players, we’d have won the last four games 4-1, 5-0, 5-0, 4-0!

We seem to be able to get a much better return against Sevco (3 from 11 shots) and Aberdeen (2 from 11), but we just seem incapable of penetrating teams who park the bus. I think we need more 1 touch only 5-a-side games in training!

  12. Another poor shift. You could hear a pin drop in the away support, the punters aren’t happy with what they’re watching. Got the feeling most of the players couldn’t be bothered, 4 or 5 are doing the minimum they can get away with. I didnt see any real desire to go and score goals as a team or as individuals. What summed it up for me was Musonda turning and passing back with his first two touches when he had 40 years to run into and one man to beat. Has he been over coached already? He looked thoroughly disinterested btw during the warm up and during the game.

When you’re at the game you get the feeling you could sit down for 10 minutes and not miss anything. To be quite honest it’s just boring. Winning takes care of everything and as long as we keep winning and stay ahead we’ll get way with it but i get the feeling the next disaster is just around the corner.

As Dallas pointed out earlier. I have never heard our away support so quiet.

You were at the match. Is there an apathy setting in?

  14. BigChips

It all depends on how a team is set up, against the hun Canning played open football and went for it, against us he shut up shop, rat face did the same yesterday.

On the Anhedonic scale this season seems to registering a disturbing 8.2…

Out of what, I hear you ask? I don’t know but it’s bound to be unsatisfactory answer…

  17. DELANEYS DUNKY on 8TH APRIL 2018 3:13 PM

Wouldn’t go as far as apathy but i noticed it at Motherwell 3 weeks ago, it was very quiet.

  18. Their goal might have been handball , i was happy the big guy stuck it in the net , i feared Ajer might have seen red for dangerous play (high boot) anyhoo 3 pts and a performance that reminds us we will need to raise our standards in defense and attack next week …. imo.

  19. bournesouprecipe, they’ve scored more goals than us in the SPL this season, so they must be doing something right. That said, I’ll take seven 1-0 wins between now and the end of an historic 7iar double treble winning season… although history would suggest that after we sew up the title next week we will likely lose at least one of our remaining “dead rubbers”.

  20. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Quite happy with today. Tedious to watch, but that was mostly down to Hamilton. The bottom 6 teams don’t even try to attack us, so games are typically closed and dull. Done enough, thoroughly deserved it, wee Griff scored and Paddy was back and playing well. One more win, hopefully against the Huns, and 7 will be in the bag. Well done bhoys.

You obviously didn’t see that game; there was no football on show. 2 dreadful teams with schoolboy defending creating the opportunity to score.

Hamilton didn’t park the bus against Sevco, creating space to get a shot off!

Also, as far as the stats are concerned, we are playing against packed penalty boxes in every game. I would be interested to see the number of shots blocked by our opponents and how many shots we take from outside the box.

As SFTB points out, if we win the treble on the 19th of May, how many will be standing watching the celebrations saying “remember those 2 pish games against Dundee and Hamilton last month?”

The manager and the players will, quite rightly, be praised for a historic double treble!

I dread the thought of CQN this time next season if we haven’t already won the League Cup, in the semi of the Scottish Cup and at least 13 points clear at the top of the league! Anything less than a treble treble will be seen as a catastrophic failure for some!

Yes, I noticed it our last couple away games.

I was at Fir Park and Hamilton away games last season. 90 minutes of singing and chanting at both games. Something not right this year.

If I can ask for you to remember in your prayers Canon Mike Bagan

As many will be aware, I go to mass in Sacred Heart Cowie, or Our Lady and St Ninians in Bannockburn

Canon Mike said Mass this morning at 10am in Cowie, I spoke to him after mass ( probably around 11am) – we spoke about his planned 65th birthday party next Saturday night ( he would have been 65 on Thurs)

Canon Mike did not appear for mid-day Mass as 12 in Bannockburn ( the villages are about 2 miles apart)

He was very sadly found dead in the church house in Bannockburn just after 12

Rest in Peace Canon Mike Bagan
