  1. Up the road early, being a good Bhoy will enable me to be let loose next Sunday. :)))

Another win for the famous Glasgow Celtic. All right we were slow in build up as usual as lately, I thought we done better when Dembelee went off????

Anyway we won .. Yaaaaasssss… Onwards and. Upwards. Bring on deidco.

I agree that McGregor was our best player – he always made himself available for a pass, which to me is the epitome of the style of football we seek to play

The post-split dates are as follows:

Fixture round 34 – weekend of April 21/22

Fixture round 35 – weekend of April 28/29

Fixture round 36 – weekend of May 5/6

Fixture round 37 – midweek of May 8/9

Fixture round 38 – weekend of May 12/13

o We will play Huns, Sheep and Killie at home and Hibs & Hertz away

o Game 34 will not be Huns – title decider ? – so Sheep or Killie – think Sheep

o Games 35 and the midweek 37 could be in Embra

o Assume that game 39 will be at home to allow Trophy celebration ( Killie LOL)

    o So Game 36 – Huns ?

  4. Delaneys Dunky on

I thought KT was our best player today and most fouled.

I wonder how Andrew Robertson would cope with the same sort of ‘attention’ that KT receives every match in Scotland?

  5. DAVID66, hope your not under the influence, not a great game but heyho we won, say hi to cheeko.hh.

I make it we are 3 points away from winning the league. Rangers and Aberdeen can get a maximum 77 points. We already have 75.

Once this league is won, especially if we can add the SC to it, the performance levels will be forgotten as quickly as the duller seasons during 9iar.

It is only in our rosy-coloured memories that every Celtic season was a procession of football with flair and large winning margins.

Brendan has done a good job in building a league winning team from young players.

    ==================================================

    This. Exactly.

Solid, controlled performance against a rugged team of press-gang descendants who looked likely to slip their leashes at any moment. Getting involved in a dramatic fiery tussle on a surface best suited to running a hornby train set through is not how you close out a championship.

THAT, lurking Huns – and Green Moany Huns – is how you play against ten men, and win the game without detrimental incident.

Not exciting, but that can wait. Job DONE.

    Professionalism.

7 – one win away from 7. And the lifetime historic achievement of 10 – TEN! – eases into range. Fantastic.

So the first game post-split will be the title clincher. Expect it to NOT be the huns. Expect it to BE at home – surely? Expect ME to be roaming around the Irish Centre, Gran Canaria. Expect it to be a ‘lively’ afternoon.

    Great Expectations, Pip…

I asked earlier but got no reply.

Are we guaranteed to play Sevco at Celtic Park and not doomdome?

  8. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Afternoon all.

Am now really really really worried about next week.

Leading up to the last game against an Ibrox team our form was TERRIBLE.

I thought we had turned a corner when we managed to SCRAPE a barely deserved victory that day and moved a COLOSSAL NINE POINTS clear in the league.

Since then our form has been DIABOLICAL while they’ve played MAJESTICALLY.

The league table proves it – a MINISCULE 13-point lead says it all.

    Big concerns !!

  9. Well that was a rather tough watch. A number of factors including the dreadful pitch, the end of a long hard season as well as a couple of players coming back in after injury could all be used as excuses for today’s performance. However, if we’re being honest we’ve witnessed today far too many times this season. Having said that there is a great deal of hyperbole around about just how ‘poor’ we’ve been.

Regardless, we stand on the cusp of an unprecedented double treble and you would be mental to bet against this squad achieving it.

  10. Big Packy, not really been out since hip op 8 weeks ago, so 6 pints and 3 hawfs later I feel a bit drunk, but I am just happy, just overjoyed to see the bhoys win and see some friendly Tim faces in pub.

I hope you and Frankie and Benny are well.

The Celtic should be playing better, but hey ho. How many times under The great Tommy Burns did we play deidco aff the park and come away with nothing. So let’s enjoy not playing too good and winning.

    Hail Hail

    D. :)

  11. Noticed yesterday that rat face’s team committed 13 fouls against the huns yet it was 20 against us on Wednesday, no really surprised anymore as it just seems the norm these days, scum bassas everywhere!

  12. embramike says ” Yer team’s deid…Beat it!” on

    DD

Yes we play Huns at home as we’ve played them twice at Close Brothers Emporium already.

We need to play 3 at home and 2 away to reach 19 home and 19 away, so will play Huns, Sheep and Killie at home and Hibs & Hertz away – simples.

Looks like Hibs and Killie will travel to Murty-dome for the 3rd time due to the ludicrous post split 19 H / 19 A fixture nonsense. They allocate the first 33 fixtures at start of the season guessing which teams will be in top 6.

Time we revamped the league structure accordingly and banned non-grass pitches from the Premiership.

    Thanks for response.

I liked the idea posted on here last week.

14 team league. Play each other twice. Split into top 6, bottom 8. Play a further 2 games aginst the top 6 teams. Giving us 36 games and bottom 8, 40 games.

    Good post!

    But our shooting is crap.

    Dead ball attempts rank.

Why can’t we hit the target more often?

Same at home as it is away.

JOBO BALDIE came up with the best format for league reconstruction that anyone has come up with ….made sense to me ?

  16. J Mc Cormick

The Musonda thing is a worry. Did the same in the warm up v Ross Cty last week. When he came on today he didn’t really seem interested but I suppose if you’re brought on with 4 mins to play you’re not going to be a happy chappy.

    An observation not a criticism-)))))

  17. We could get excited as to which Celtic player will be first to get 10 league goals. SInky and Griff tied on 9, Moussa on 8, Jamesie on 7, Callum & Odsonne on 6.

In contrast, Tony Stokes has 7 goals and Louis Moult 8, and they have long gone. And Florian Kamberi is on 6 too and he just got here.

  18. embramike says ” Yer team’s deid…Beat it!” on

    DD

That league set up might make sense, but the teams in the bottom 8 who need the money most would only be guaranteed 4 games against us and huns whereas now they are guaranteed 6 so vote for less revenue unlikely ?

  19. Sipsini

No bad mate, I’ll be over late May and will be at the dinner in the Kerrydale with Burghbhoy. Are you in? It would be great to get together for a catch up.

  20. D66

At the end of the day the foul count for and against us and the hun is well skewed.

They get fouls we wouldn’t get, we get fouls against that they wouldn’t get, it’s a bit like, our striker jumps for the ball, they get a foul, their defender jumps for the ball they get a foul, we really have to win to get a draw in scotland.

Many years ago when they were doing their NIAR, there was much nashing of the teeth when they were papped out of europe on a regular basis, the excuse was there was no competition in scotland, the real reason was they had honest referees and linos in charge of their euro games, it’s as simple as.

I wasn’t aware of that stat. Whilst it is good to have a spread of goals throughout the team., we should have at least one player on 20 goals at this stage of the season. Suppose that injuries for Moussa and Griff have played a part in your worrying statistic.

  23. Heard a bit on Radio Scotland, Chris McL was interviewing BR , BR asked CMcL when the fixtures will be announced, also in the studio Pat Bonner asked if Celtic are guaranteed a home tie against Sevco, Dick Gordon said no they are not and said some teams will be disappointed in the fixture list,I think Hibs might get sent to Ibrox for the 3rd time

    BIGCHIPSUK – 10 IN A ROW (2001-2010) on 8TH APRIL 2018 3:05 PM

For those blaming the pitch for the turgid play in today’s game, Sevco won 5-3 on the same pitch not so long ago. So it clearly is possible to play football on that pitch if there is a will to do so.

    ________________________________________________________________________

Also, as far as the stats are concerned, we are playing against packed penalty boxes in every game. I would be interested to see the number of shots blocked by our opponents and how many shots we take from outside the box.

    +++++++++++++++

I counted in first half 4 Celtic Defenders plus keeper just behind the halfway line. That left 15 players in one half at odds of nearly 2 to1 against Celtic.

Hamilton never came out of their half , relying on one of our moves losing possession and then humping the ball up the part where it could go anywhere in a 50 50.

It suggests we do a bit of humping (if you will pardon the expression) and look to win the second ball. If nothing else it changes the pattern of the game and makes it more exciting. Teaches us to win second ball too.

A tall or broad CF prepared to tussle would help.

Your long held mantra that if we sort the mibs in Scotland, we sort the game, still rings true.

  26. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 8TH APRIL 2018 2:45 PM

I make it we are 3 points away from winning the league. Rangers and Aberdeen an get a maximum 77 points. We already have 75.

Once this league is won, especially if we can add the SC to it, the performance levels will be forgotten as quickly as the duller seasons during 9iar.

    * last seasons remarkable run away title win, 30 points and a 42 GD over the sheep with deidco a further 39 points and 69 GD this season has been a bit of an anti climax as opposed to a disappointment.

So I had a look at our honest NIAR, and it indicated the following in chronological order:

    1 – huns 2 points and 24 GD

    2 – huns 3 points and 17 GD

    3 – huns 2 points and 21 GD

    4 – huns 5 points and 8 GD

    5 – huns 12 points and 36 GD

    6 – sheep 2 points and 16 GD, huns 4th 15 points and 42 GD behind us

    7 – sheep 10 points and 14 GD, huns 3rd 16 points and 35 GD behind us

    8 – huns 1 point and 21 GD

    9 – hibs 4 points and 22 Gd, huns 3rd 5 points and 22 GD behind us

There were only 2 seasons of the 9 when we won it pretty easily. And then the proverbial wheels fell off as we finished 3rd 11 points and 13 GD behind deidco although we did win both cups, when the huns failed to attain a cheating TIAR they won eff all that season, fired naesurname midway through the season and dumped the FGB before it ended.

It’s also worth noting that in season 68/69, when we won by 5 points we lost both derby games, as Big Jock used tae caution us by saying, we only get the same points for beating them as well as anyone else, although he knew fine well the significance of a victory over them.

In season 8, 1972/73 it went tae the wire and with an estimated 40,000 at Easter Road that day, we were locked in a pub early doors and on leaving my da went for a kerry oot, when we got sat down behind one of the goals and opened the bag it was Norsemen lager, the only pint I had ever left in a pub prior tae that. However that day it was norsemen, southmen comrades all as we romped tae a 3-0 victory and 8-in-a-row.

The huns were favoured tae win the League by this point and it was the only time then I can recall cameras being at both games, theirs at home tae East Fife and ours in Leith.

As we left the ground a car driven by John Blackley who didnae play that afternoon passed us and he had a huge grin on his face.

Leaving embra was brutal and my da’s mate somehow took us home via Dunfermline where we stopped in for a pint and heard that the Fife Beckencauer had won the POTY award and the Pars had also won promotion.

  27. embramike says ” Yer team’s deid…Beat it!” on

Celtic, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts have played 16 at home and 17 away so will play 3 at home and 2 away post split.

Killie and Huns have played 17 at home and 16 away so will play only 2 home matches post split with 3 away.

Over to you Dungcaster – a coupe of clubs won’t be happy, but even SPFL wouldn’t have us play 3 derby games at Ayebrokes and only 1 at home. They are not that stupid ???

  28. Delaneys Dunky on

What Dessybhoy just posted confirms what I asked earlier. No guarantee that we will play Sevco at home post split.

  29. embramike says ” Yer team’s deid…Beat it!” on

WE WILL play Huns at home that’s for sure.

The teams who will suffer most are the teams who were in lowest relative positions last season i.e Killie (who were 8th ) and Hibs (who were in Championship)
