Congratulations Celtic on qualifying. Absolutely fantastic for the team, fans, Brendan and his assistants.
No time to scroll back, but has anyone questioned mcgregors movement at the first goal? From what I could see he runs out from somewhere near the goal line (just as the corner is about to be taken) to the edge of the box, and stands there completely on his own. Was this to pick up a clearing header (that never came) or did he not know what his job was supposed to be?
Also what happened to wee jamesie tonight? Nerves? Back to last seasons form. Pulled out of every 50-50 and poor effort to win it back. Looked like he had lost his confidence again. Hopefully a one-off! Head up wee man!
Anyway, result was all important. Can’t wait for the draw.

I deliberately didn’t watch the game tonight cos I knew we’d be rubbish and my heart couldn’t take it. I just watched the last half hour though and actually we were almost comfortable (although I’m sure it didn’t feel like that at the time). They had a shot from 25 yards that Gordon saved, a scissors kick volley that went 10 yards wide and a few crosses. We had great chances for Dembele and Sinclair during that period.
Ball retention was hopeless and nobody worked hard enough to get on the ball. Scott Brown was good tho, as were Touré, Erik and Lustig. Loads of room for improvement but this is a great achievement for Brendan Rodgers, taking this fairly average squad into the group stages. Well done, him and the players.
Would not be surprised if certain parts of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank take a few for team over the next week.
The Israeli right wing / ultra nationalist establishment are very sore losers.
The fund raising effort has put them on the back foot and they will want to respond.

No point in analysing tonight’s match too much , the only thing that mattered was qualifying . We found a way there after blowing it from good positions the last two years .
Absolutely shattered but can’t get to sleep , CL playoffs should carry a health warning .

whats not to like – we qualified for the champions league in the most perfect manner possible. We showed that we need more players otherwise we will get spanked – simple! no excuses now for the board not to provide the funding the shore up the midfield and bring in some experience.
Also , we have a couple of players coming back from injury that will make us stronger physically.
that was tough tonight but we did it and made a TON of friends around the world at the same time

HBS are a good team, clearly as they knocked out Olympiacos. We couldn’t cope with their high tempo approach to the game. After 60 mins i honestly could not see us getting out of there. Thankfully the switch to 3-5-2 seemed to culminate with them running out of steam and ideas.
I think HBS are a better side than Malmo and Maribor, ironically.

Part of me wanted us to concede a third after an hour so we could go for the tie winner at the end rather than holding on but a mixture of tactical acumen (I hope) lack of quality in the opposition and good fortune saw us home

Dreadful evening for my worshipers and me. Just when we thought our friends in Israel might just advance to the Champions League with a little assistance from our top placed Dutch referee, Brendan went and got tactical and ruined what was to be an historic evening. I’ve had The Sons on the phone requesting my millions now. Vanguard Bears just won’t stop texting me and even my most appreciative ally Mr Traynor has levelled accusations at me 5 times this very night.
It is now time, Timmy, to put you in your rightful 2nd place. The moment were I, with deep reservations, have been forced to act to my word. So Timothy. Beware! At 3..2 at Celtic Park he decided to attack and we forced 2 more vital goals when another manager may have settled for 3..2

Regarding HBS — I agree that they are a pretty tidy team. However they do lack class in a number of areas and when put under pressure they did look a bit rough.
However for most of tonight’s game we made them look brilliant.
Some of the players had accepted defeat before they got out of the changing room.
Got huge gaps to fill in the squad.
Desperately need a solid RB to cover for ML and give SJ to recover from his breakdown.
We need some height at CB as we literally are a bit short — wouldn’t spend a lot but we need new blood.
We also need a bit of heart and muscle in the MF — two platters at least.
SB should be on his last season this year so we need to plan ahead.
Not sure the situation with BR and his one missing player.
Knows the budget and wants to max out in a key position?
Whatever his reason he needs to put some real class in the MF.

As soon as that second goal went in me and Paddy Bhoy had to stand to watch the rest of the game. He is 24 fit as a fiddle, yet near the end I could hear him struggling to catch his breath, no criticism of the players, unlike his Dad! just encouragement from a living room, saying almost religiously over and over come on Celtic we can do this. It certainly added to the pressure for me, seeing my bhoy so uptight.
The hug at the end will live with me forever.

Have had problems posting, poor gateway. Delighted with result, but a poor team selection and performance. Goals were Boys Guild stuff. Leaving goalie exposed at corners is basic.
