Hearts resentment reservoir

581

If you do not have a knot in your stomach, you should.  Hearts managed to relegate themselves last season through inept performances against teams clearly below them in the food chain.  They upped their game against Hibs and (especially) Newco, posing questions that the Budgeocracy has yet to consider.  On Sunday, we face a team of usually-can’t-be-bothereds with a grudge.

In October, they started their Championship campaign by putting six goals past Dundee, whom they blame for siding with Peter Lawwell in the discussions that determined how last season’s league campaign would end.  Then they beat Hibs, who they can always be bothered to play, in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The new stands at Tynecastle act as a reservoir of resentment and Celtic are top of their list.  Who else, other than their players, either managers, or the insightful new broom that was going to show football how it’s done in the business world, is there to blame for their relegation than Celtic.

And then there’s Eddie.  You and I didn’t really discuss this at the time.  A photo circulated showing the keeper took him out, but that was ‘fake news’ as it was not of the penalty incident in the 2019 final.  Hand on heart; I think we got away with one then.  A goal down in the second half, Odsonne Edouard took control; before you knew it, you were celebrating a Treble Treble.

I do not respect Heart of Midlothian FC whatsoever, but I respect any opponent who can so readily cultivate the unifying resentment that can produce results like the 4-0 that ended Celtic’s world record 69 domestic games unbeaten.  This is a proper team, better than most in the Premiership and more than capable of winning on Sunday.  If we are one inch less prepared than them, we will lose.

Before the Lille and Kilmarnock wins I saw a shroud of defeat ahead at Hampden.  We may have turned it around just in time, but for now, the stomach remains knotted.

  1. An amazing achievement could take place tomorrow and I am on a Celtic site talking of School, snooker and PPV !!!

What kind of supporter am I? !!

Hearts, as Paul`s leader indicated, are a strange outfit this year. We are rightly hot favourites but I don`t think it is our genes to ever feel truly confident in important games. A mixture of societal influences and a very anti-Celtic Media make sure of that. Even so, I do feel reasonably confident by virtue of the fact that we really do have better players. As always, though, the referee can offset that. Who is the Ref? Is it Beaton? Not that it really makes much difference :-)

I really like what I have saw so far of Soro … he might start and be brilliant tomorrow … but (aab, always a but) even though no fans there is plenty of pressure on our young team tomorrow Hazard, Taylor, Ajer, Soro, Turnbull, Edouard … could be over half the team 22ish and under

Broony whether he starts or comes on will be very influential tomorrow (in my opinion :-)

“Yep. Propoganda. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Plenty of outlets and punters up here ready and willing to propogate it. It’s great that modem technology allows a now multitude of celtic blogs, forums and podcasts to combat the utter tripe we see.”

Totally agree with the first part. Unfortunately, I feel too many of those ` propagating` are doing so on the very sites set up to do the `combatting`. That, of course, underminines the attempts of these sites to achieve their collective objective.

  4. Hot Smoked / Bada – Do you (or anyone else) know whether any of the other teams’ season ticket holders get to see their home games without a further charge – for example, do Sevco season ticket holders have the equivalent of our ‘Pass to Paradise’?

  5. MM – Leave my Kylie out of it.

Bada – Although SB is and gas been a fantastic servant he should start on the bench and wait for his chance.

Soro has grabbed his chance and that’s what creates competition, never change a winning team.

Hibs have the same for their sb holders.

Think Chris Burke on SSB during the week was asked about Broony and am sure he said something like .. even though I am not in direct opposition with Scott, but our team get a lift when he is not in the Celtic starting 11… I think, rightly or wrongly our domestic opponents get more of lift when Broony is missing … again, if Neil sticks by the team that has played pretty well recently I won’t complain … I will be happy with Turnbull starting … and whoever else is selected to play around him

  8. If Brown doesn’t start, watch Naibalance run the midfield, with a compliant Beaton taking a backseat……

  9. Just noticed that although Liverpool are 6-0 up with seven minutes to play, Crystal palace are `only` 28/1 while Liverpool are 1/5,0000.

    Why is that?

  10. Bada – I think wee Soro will sort out Divesmith. The wee man presses, he is quick in the tackle and moves forward quickly, what we need to keep the Tempo up.

    D :)

  11. My wife was feeling a bit under the weather since midweek, she swore it was her sinuses. Doctor told to go and get a Covid Test.

    Positive.

She’s been asleep all day today.

Myself and my son, 8, are tiptoeing around the house.

10 days confinement coming up and we don’t know if we have it or not. I tried to get a test this morning at the health centre but they sent me home and told me to wait for a phone call, probably on Monday.

And so this is Christmas . . .
