    Neil Lennon is not my choice either……………………but he is now Celtic’s manager and he gets my full backing.

     

     

    Do those of you who are against Neil’s appointment want him to fail?

     

     

    I think we should be told.

    I don’t think going back to a previous job is generally a good thing but I’m open to being pleasantly surprised if Neil proves himself to be the right man. So much hinges on the board’s attitude to team rebuilding. Given past experience , I’m less optimistic about that.

    PHILBHOY, we are probably round about the same age, we know the ups and downs of celtic, going to mass on a sunday morning after a defeat, look its not a question of backing neil, imho he is not the man to take us forward you do, lets not fallout over it.hh.

    Apparently getting fired from OR not being suitable for a job as a football manager makes you unsuitable to manage Celtic FC.

     

     

    The manager who left us in the midnight flit in February was sacked by Watford & Liverpool yet many, perhaps the same people who complain today, were fawning in their praise at his appointment.

     

     

    Morinho gets sacked, Bentiez gets sacked, Villas Boas gets sacked.

     

     

    Getting sacked is as much a part of being a manager as losing games.

     

     

    It means absolutely nothing in the context of a manager’s suitability that he’s been sacked by other clubs.

     

     

    Past success is just as often no sign of guaranteed future success, just as failure inevitably produces greater learning lessons than easy & repeated success.

     

     

    Whatever I think about NFL’s appointment as manager is irrelevant, just as is everyone else’s opinion on here. We are bumping gums & some are even setting the scene for them to return in a years time to brag that they told us so. I

     

     

    NFL has been chosen by the board to lead Celtic into next season. I don’t know the terms of his contract, but I do know that if he fails to produce the success that he, the board, the players and fans want – tyhen he will be gone.

     

     

    The performance of the team since the Q final win against HIbs has been less than convincing, but I don;t know why that is. It seems to simplistic to say that it must be NFL’s fault. Losing Ryan Christie has really hurt us. Losing the old Tom Rogic after his injury while on injury duty has really harmed us. Losing our rebel centre back in March hurt us. Losing KT hurt us. Losing Calmac hurt us. Losing Rodgers & his team hurt us.

     

    In a season where we lost our first & second choice strikers & looking at the cumulative effect of everything above, it’s a wonder we won anything.

     

    Yet we won a treble for the third time in three seasons.

     

     

    The records will show that we won the league & the Scottish cup with Neil Lennon as manager.

     

     

    To NOT appoint a manager who achieved that would be bizarre for any club, but for one that faces Champions League qualifiers in 5 weeks, it would ridiculous.

     

     

    Neil & his backroom team were thrown together yet managed to get us across the line. It’s worth reminding ourselves that at the start of the winter break, we were playing poorly & with no confidence – under another manager. If a winter break can turn things round for him, then a summer break can easily lead to a similar change of performance for NFL.

     

     

    Give NFL his own choice of backroom staff & the funds & resources to get us ready for next season.

     

     

    We deserve that & I’m certain he does too.

    Didn’t want Neil but that is what we’ve got. I personally back him but I will reserve my judgement. We need a clear out and new blood in. Young Dembele will be a player given time. I hope he doesn’t end up like Michael Owen Wayne Rooney and possibly even Kieranwho all had far too much football at a young age and struggled with injury. Time will tell. Enjoy the moment. We go again very soon

    Lenny getting the job was a surprise tbh. His comments about PL keeping his word are even more surprising for a variety of reasons.

     

    Did PL really say to Lenny that the job was his if he got us over the line in the league? That would frankly be the most unprofessional thing I’ve ever heard, if it’s true.

     

    The only other reason I can see why Lenny got the job is that every other candidate that we approached turned us down, which is probably closer to the truth but who were these individuals and more importantly were we serious in our approaches?

     

    Did we approach the likes of Jack Ross for example or were the guys we approached at a higher level and never likely to accept an approach from an SPFL club?

     

    Who knows, apart from PL and DD, what the truth is but at this moment a significant number of Celtic fans feel badly let down and frankly cheated by the appointment of Lenny.

     

    The only way the club can turn this round is by backing Lenny in the transfer market and to be fair PL spoke today about what an astute judge of a player Lenny is, which would suggest he may be prepared to back his judgement. Well we can but hope, what else can we do now?
