    I think after we scored we got a bit nervous and as WGS says we played negatively instead of having the tails up going for goal,pure nerves but we kept holding on with hail Mary defending,big Sammy is a star,even before Forrest came on he was standing up n being counted which Jamesie did and lifted the team,big Fraser just did what he normally does,that’s his standard,I’ve always thought he was our main reason for winning the league and he turned it on tonight again.

     

     

    Vic will be back to sit in next week,had he played tonight we would’ve wrecked that mob which I think well do now anyway.

     

     

    A great night,were far from perfection but sure enough were getting better.

     

     

    Well done.

    Well at half time we lead 2-0 we took two of our chancrs they squandered theres.I certainly feel we can finish the job at Paekhead.There were really no failures in the hoops tonight but there were some stand outs Forster,Commons,Sammi and Forrest for me were outstanding and its great that we havewon our last two European away games it should help the teams confidence.H.H.

    Great result the night, knew it would be different when we scored (instead of conceding) early.

     

    FF was excellent when called up on.

     

    JF looked sharp and showed why we missed his pace and directness

    If you include the passes we gave to them, then I think UEFA could be right – for once. Mind you, I don’t really care. The result is all that mattered tonight and the team, no matter how, delivered. I’m off to recharge the batteries for next week as they will be a bit overworked by the wait from now till then.

    Come on, fella, that is a measure of nothing. Inverness is a place you go to in order to scrape a 1:0 or a 2:1 win. A poor pitch, exposed to the elements and agricultural clugging is given free reign by Ian Brines or some other inept ref until a player in green and white tries it.

     

     

    Teams with Hartson and Larsson scraped wins in awful performances up there.

     

     

    I fully expect a dull close game and I will be there.

     

     

    5:0 to the hoops for me :-)

    Brilliant result tonight , is that now 4 away games in Europe undefeated , this team is learning how to get the job done.

     

    We were under the cosh at times but that is to be expected away in Europe. I know we had some nervy defending with big Fraser coming to the rescue , better shape 2nd half with James getting us up the part and Charlie looking better in midfield resulting in us finishing the game clear winners and could have should have added to the score.

     

     

    HT 2 up and game at Celtic Park to come , what’s not to like,

     

     

    right bring on the Caley another tough away game with a few players looking as if they have knocks.

    I so hope the huns are away to cowdenbeath or somebody in the Ramptons cup, the same night we entertain Real or Barca in the CL. That will be the moment they reflect on their crimes, and its gonna hurt big time.

    Very, very happy with that result tonight. As others have already said, we know exactly how helsinborg feel tonight as we have played better in the past without getting the result – usually against better teams though.

    I’ve got to say I like Mad Mitch. I don’t always agree with his view and I know his sense of timing his posts is questionable. But he often makes very telling posts and his critical analysis of our board’s patchy performance isn’t always wrong. He’s posted on here for several years despite quite unwarranted attacks. He adds to the colour and gaiety of this great blog.

    Please – can we just talk about us?

     

    We had 120 years of being yoked up to a filthy thing which is now dead (even if it doesn’t know it yet).

     

    This season is about us and Europe, and a cleaner SPL.

     

    I am breathing clean air this season – more than my dad, my mum and a whole wheen of family ever got the chance to do.

     

    Look forward, not back. Ignore the twitchings of the corpse.

    Just back from the living room.

     

     

    Absolutely top drawer display from Fraser Forster to rival his performance v Udinese. Easily MOTM.

     

     

    The defence looked shaky, particularly in the first half where they looked scared stiff of what Kayal was going to do next. Izzy, in particular, improved significantly 2nd half. Think that’s the last we’ll see of 4-1-4-1 until we have a Lenny type midfielder who can read the game as well as he did.

     

     

    Sammi gave his usual underrated piece of bearded genius – the man is a gift to Celtic – while Kris Commons was busy from first to last, harrying their defenders and opening up play – his goal technical perfection. Forrest provided them with no end of trouble and looks a certain start against them next week.

     

     

    Finally, Joe Ledley battled for everything – a true Celtic servant.

    The left side of the defence was exposed with Izzy wandering off and not tucking in and forcing Chas lack of pace to be exposed. After the booking Chas had to be careful and stand off his man, which was a bit fraught to watch but defending is a team effort and we were collectively loose in the first half but shaped up well after a talking to at halftime.

     

     

    It looked tighter with Kelvin who is quicker but by that stage the Swedes were starting to run out of legs.

     

     

    It maybe worth a try to have Lustig on the right and Matthews switched to the left in the return game, as the Swedes will force the play down our left side.

     

     

    We need to try a tighter formation in anticipation of much tougher opposition, and hit on the break ……

    The only thing that has got on my goat since the Ajax debacle is the lack of a qaulity centre back being recruited. Anybody who cannot see that after tonights performance then his opinion is not worth considering its that screamingly obvious.

     

     

    I am not prepared to paper over the cracks. Wilson never started. Looked good coming on Fresh. Chaz is not a CB. Big Tam needs an experienced partner. The team needs it.

     

     

    I am very happy tim tonight but as BSR ,says ….we still wont spend…..and if we dont and we qaulify we are heading for some gubbings…

     

     

    I still hold that opinion.

     

     

    And we lost Ki and a raft of others.
