Obviously, it’s the result and not the performance but there were enough good things to counterbalance the weaknesses and the raggedness.
Forster was magnificent and I am proud that a few of us defended him against the judgementalists in our support because he was always good and just needed time and maturity to improve even more. He will get even better but, like every keeper that ever played, he will ship a goal now and then that will behis fault.
Kris Commons has football intelligence that delights. If you love football, you’ll love what he can do with a ball. Does not always track back but he is always making a run when we attack. I’d play him as striker.
James Forrest took the initiative away from Helsingborg and made them think about us for a change. He is already a star and he’s just had his 21st birthday.
Thomas Rogne had a CB partner who had a bit of a mare tonight. His LB played well but was missing from defence at times and Adam Matthews was too wound up and nervous. Beram did not screen the defence and was hooked but Thomas plugged as much as he could and kept the score to 0 along with his keeper.
I hope Jordan Rhodes scored his last Huddersfield goal tonight and we move on with a CB too.
Life is good. Life is great.
Even the miserabilists must crack a smile tonight. Some of them kbew we had no chance in the last round :-)
Fraser Forster should be sacked for that performance.
Sacked!

Delighted we have put down a marker on qualifying for the CL Group stages – would be happy to qualify and perform well at home finishing no worse than 3rd.
The opportunity to play a 2-leg tie pre-Christmas for a place in the last 16 of the Europa Cup in 2013 would be a fantastic achievement for such a young team.
I sincerely hope that CFC (board & management) see this as the minimum target this season.
Roll-on European nights!

What a good week
Excelllent business getting 6 mill for Ki
Fanatstic result tonight lost our way in midfield after a brillant start
Lenny made good changes second half, turned the game around
Well done Fraser Forster absolutely superb performance, wouldnt sell you for any less than 10 mill after tonight
So looking forward to the rest of the week at work
Actually it seemed that the forced change of bringing Mulgrew into central midfield in place of Kayal helped the team a lot. He shielded the CBs much better than was the case in maybe 40-50 mins of play when we had Kayal, Brown and Ledley all playing in a line that allowed their players to find space between the lines. And the three further chances that we created in the second half were really impressive, especially as an away team in the CL.
Sad to see you’re still fouling the air on CQN but happy to scroll past your usual rubbish.
Sincerely hope you don’t have anyone living with you.

Agree 100%. It was atactic that big Jock used when teams put the shutters up. If you were about then, you must remember games when we just ran teams into the ground then whacked them in the last 15/20 minutes. Do not give a whatever tonight. For joy, this is right up there because of its implications for the club and above all the support. Let’s all do the huddle. I’ll just get the dug from under the bed as the wife’s sleeping.

Fraser Forster was IMMENSE tonight, well done big man. I still had doubts about him until half way through last season but by god he is makng up for it now. What a difference a commanding goalkeeper has made already.
James Forrest made a MASSIVE difference when he came on and Charlie Mulgrew definately calmed down the midfield when moved in there
Apart from that not much else positive about the performance BUT what a result Brilliant scoreline.
If we can start the next leg how we played the last half hour we will be through.

please no more mention of a very minor irrelevant local cup game
a bit of a pinball game at times but at last we managed to put a couple of moves in the net and keep a clean sheet away from home
seems like all the commentators were tripping over their bottom lips though, don’t worry boys, we won the coronation cup, we won big one first, we’re not going anywhere soon…
Any of the media monkeys still saying Neil Lennon does not know how to win big games?
Any of the media monkeys still highlighting Celtic’s away European record?
We are almost there, still a huge game before us next Wednesday.
Fraser Forster- what a buy, at £2m he has (hopefully) repaid his fee tenfold tonight.

Well done Celtic and well done Neil Lennon.
Big goalkeeper is world class and will play for England. Well done to Neil for recognising Kayal for what he is, pity he didn’t bin him after Kilmarnock. Couple of things for me, keep we Jamsie fit for the return and moving forward play Charlie left of midfield. Job nearly done, just need to score first at Celtic Park.

Our performances are all to often determined by our players hormones / biorhythms.
NL and the coaching seems to have far too little effect for my liking.
I am over the moon that we have managed a great result away from home in Europe.
It has been coming for far too long.
However what are your thoughts for the weekend?
I fear we will have a RC Mk2.
When we burst ICT then I will feel we have moved on, grown up.
My gripe is that individually we have a huge amount of talent, far above our level of performance.
Hamiltontim – if Fraser gets a game or two for England I think £10 million will be the benchmark for the inevitable EPL ‘swoop’.
I was thinking at times this evening that if we can keep the core of this team together for four years or so we will be having some great european nights with them. Hopefully our ‘assets’ will hang around. If we can get CL money, sell the occasional valuable periferal player like Ki and keep unearthing the Kayal, Wanyama types then we are well on the way to getting the ‘football systems/ operations’ right.
Great night. See you all tomorrow!

Said to Mrs Craggy before the game that I was going to stay off the blog until full time as some of the comments might unnerve me more than the match itself.
Reading back through I am glad I chose this method.
A game lasts 90 minutes and no analysis is required until the 90 minutes are up. That’s how I like to do it anyway.
Well done to Neil and the team, the performance was inconsistent but the result was ideal.
Half time in the tie 2-0 up with the home leg to come.
I’ll take that kind of pressure any day.
