So the fact is we are second to a very poor Rangers team led by a manager whose domestic record was being highlighted in recent weeks as being worse than Pedro and Murty,in the middle of December

  2. They’re favourites at Ibrox. No doubt about that for me. Our away form is appalling. Maybe going into the transfer window behind them in the league will be the rocket the money men need up their backsides.

Gerrard captained Liverpool FC to, two 2 big Cup’s.

Six 6 months ago he was Liverpool’s under 18’s coach, and now he’s breathing doon complicit Celtic’s necks at the top of the SPFL table, and he’ll probably come across a bundle of ‘undisclosed’ money, just as Celtic’s war chest….disappears, in the next transfer window.

    Hmmmmm.

    Humbled to reply. √

    Have to leave now, HH.

    Indeed I will with pleasure.

Next month ship out with haste ….

    Sinclair / lustig / Gordon / ntcham / edouard / Hayes / simonivic / Ayer / Izzy /

de vries, ralston, henry, compper, benyu, allan , gamboa , miller. In that order.

Oh and John Kennedy. Many years on I still know not what his purpose is. Move on.

  5. 3 of or best players today were out injured and were replaced by 3 players who are on first team wages at Celtic .If your on first team wages at Celtic you really should be better than anything else that the SPFL has to offer in opposition.

You speak the truth. If only Brendan could agree with you.

Know all about it if these vile bigoted rats do win the lge.

Brendan’s priority is 2 strikers. What good is that when u have a shite defence and lustig will still be in it ????

There was an acre of space between our midfield and defence at Hibs first goal , then Jozo decides to let the scorer step inside him as if he wasn’t there.

There was an acre of space on our right at the second goal , the same acre as Hibs had just failed to exploit minutes earlier. To make matters worse it came from Ntcham’s poor free kick at the other end.

So there were certainly some dire individual performances but there was also a lack of team cohesion.

I would like to see Morgan get a run instead of the ineffectual Sinclair and Johnston to help out the ineffectual Eddy. At least those two have some movement about them and a wee bit hunger to prove themselves.

  11. What’s the point of 2 strikers when 90% of our possession is played along and back into our 18 yard box

  12. On train home from Embra. With a few Coatbridge Tims. All of us agree we were shite today.

  13. the pairing of SB and ON was our downfall at the start of this season and only when they both were injured and out of the team did we up our game to a high tempo, quick forward passing team , now that they are back in the team we have returned to that start of season play , a big January transfer window coming up for BR , better get it right.

Maybe I should have said we are 2nd behind the Huns and Killie who are joint top….

    @@@@@@

Aye maybe, but in your haste to run Celtic down you got it wrong, and you have again

At the school I went to if 2 teams are above you, you are 3rd mate .

Huns and Killie only have the same points, huns a better goal difference so are first Killie are second thats us 3rd in my book.

But you batter on with your wee keyboard hitting out at all things Celtic, haven’t seen you on for ages, then after a poor performance your on like a red light in Amsterdam.

  15. Glendalystonsils

There was also acres of space in front of our back line today which none of them were prepared to venture into, in order to progress the ball in a forward direction, much preferring a sideways pass or pirouetting and giving it back to Gordon to pump out the park.

  16. Well, that was utterly wretched today. Just finished watching Liverpool have 36 attempts at goal in 90 minutes against one of their main rivals. That is unimaginable with this Celtic team. I often wonder whether our team imbibes Valium or some soporific before games because we inevitably start in a desultory fashion, allowing the opponent to take the initiative from the kick off.

It happened again today, and our reaction? None! We are ridiculously slow and ponderous, and, with so many players out of position and their own comfort zone, we were just not ready to start.

That is on Brendan. O.K. With his record, we can definitely cut him some slack.

But why oh why is it not obvious to our coaching staff that our set piece tactics are simply dreadful? Before Hibs second goal, Izzy feinted languidly as if he was going to take a free kick. It fooled nobody, and even worse, he stayed upfield. Ayer, Jozo and Benkovic were all in a position for a cross. What does Ntcham do? Stupidly whacks it off the wall with no one behind him except Brown. Prime exhibition of zero football intelligence.

It is also obvious to a blind man that we NEVER get 10 yards at a free kick. Why aren’t Brendan and the players in the officials’ faces about this?

Our current tactic at corners is to mass our tall guys in a tight formation where they can get in each other’s way, with no one at the back post. This means that a mishit corner ( at which we are consummately adept ) takes out all our players. Today, Benkovic got a glancing header to one, sending it to the far post, where – you guessed it – there was no Celtic player. Gormless.

We have missed three penalties in a row where Griffiths, Sinclair and Ntcham all hit the ball at the perfect height for a goalie to save, midway between the post and the keeper. Christie showed them how it should be done against Hearts. That should be the standard each and every time.

Lastly, Gordon is the only keeper I see who passes the ball backwards at bykicks.

If Brendan gets some funds to spend in January, he should focus only on players who have speed. It covers a multitude of sins, and makes players like Van Dyck, Boyata and Forrest what they are. As it is, our team speed is pitiful.

Watching Salzburg on Thursday, every one of their players looked around as a pass was arriving, most often while in motion. Today, I carefully watched our team and not one player did that. Typically we receive a pass while standing still ( or have to go backwards to get it ) killing all momentum. We also make most passes while standing still, making it easy for opponents to press. On Thursday, this resulted in many passes directly to the opposition.

Brendan said we were leggy on Thursday. Why were we leggy? Today, it is because of our exertions on Thursday. Yet Salzburg, after traveling, smashed their opponents 5-1 today. Taking an impassive view, I do not see much potential for improvement in Ayer, Jozo, Izzy, Brown, Ntcham, Hayes or Sinclair, while Odsonne is like an elephant with a beach ball. I hope Boyata signs on and Christie recovers quickly because, without significant augmentation in January, I think we are in trouble.

  23. Will you lot listen to yourselves. So we were beaten by a better team today, it happpens. OK we are nothing like as good as we think and it proves beyond any doubt, we lack strength in our squad but the continual hammering of lustig is quite simply , beyond me. The guy wasn’t even playing today ffs, yet still he gets hammered.

We need a bit of calm and we will be ok, trust me.

That list you provided of Salzburg’s recent buys shows only 3 names that appeared in the squad at CP (Onguene who cost £2m, Mwepu whose cost is not given and the unused sub Todorovic who cost 450k)

I think we would need to see the costs of the other 15 members of the squad to get a true comparison.

This is a common misconception as Nt’cham played the full game when we turned it around with a 6-0 thrashing of St Johnstone.

Nt’cham and McGregor anchored the midfield and we played Griff and Edouard up front.

This gave us a more balanced side and freed up space for Rogic and McGregor to work due to both strikers runs creating space.

Our present lack of strikers due to our profit first mantra is limiting selection and tactical options.

  26. If the zombie club had a half decent manager, they would most probably be well in front of us by now.

    Unfortunately they don’t.

Even at that, their players are absolute tripe so a decent manger maybe wouldn’t even make any difference.

Brendan Rodgers has been doubted many times before on here, and it’s proven to be foolish to doubt Brendan Rodgers.

    HH. ?

Aye ok whatever you say matey, but keep ignoring the facts and before you know it’ll be May and the league cup and place in the last 32 of the Europa Cup are the only things we might be celebrating. Anyway you keep spending your money researching the Red Lights in Amsterdam and I’ll spend mine following Celtic home and away and maybe looking at things from a different perspective from yourself.
