History beckons against Hearts at home

352

If an invincible season in the league is to be completed, we now know it will happen at Celtic Park on Sunday, 21 May, against Hearts. While getting over the line is always the most difficult part of a challenge, away games at Pittodrie, where we play nearest challengers Aberdeen, on Friday 12 May, and Ibrox, where we play Newco on 29 April, will present the most significant challenges to our attempts to complete the season undefeated.

There is also the non-trivial matter of an away derby match against our oldest Glasgow rivals, Partick Thistle, on 18 May. Thistle are a tidy team, currently on excellent form. This is exactly the kind of game that has a tendency of stopping history in its tracks.  We’ve work to do at Dingwall on Sunday before any of this, of course.

The league split was conceived to accommodate competing needs for more teams in the top flight, but fewer games. This season it has also given us some really attractive looking games after the main issue was settled.

I know one or two who would like future fixtures to be arranged to avoid the title being decided during Lent. I’m not going to say this will be easy to achieve, but it could easily be added to the agenda at next monthly conclave between the SFA, the Scottish Premiership and the Vatican.

We have halfway through our two day raffle for TWO TICKETS to the Scottish Cup semi-final next weekend. Raffle is in aid of Mary’s Meals. To enter, make a minimum £5 donation here, then email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com with the words “Scottish Cup” in the subject line, to confirm your entry.

This is a short competition, so get in quick. Competition closes noon tomorrow. Many thanks to those who entered yesterday. Remember to put your contact details on your email, wouldn’t be the first time someone didn’t get the winning email confirmation.

All orders will be shipped on Tuesday!

  1. Morning Fellow Tims,

A very good Friday to one and all.

    Quick question,

Anyone know if there is a taxi firm near the Celtic end of Ibrox? I am flying back to Dublin after the game on 29th Apr. Flight home is at 3.45pm. Game finishes approx 1.55pm so it is going to be extremely tight to get to Glasgow airport. Would need to be the airport for 2.35pm I reckon.

Will probably leave 2/3 mins b4 end of game and what I need is to have a taxi waiting for me near Helen Street where Celtic supporters buses park. Or alternatively, if there is a taxi firm within walking distance of Ibrox ( near Helen Street ) that I could walk in to? If so, how far away is it from Helen Street?

Any help would be massively appreciated.

No, I wasn’t aware about the BHF funding nor those, as you say ‘ gobsmacking’ statistics. They’ve got a shop locally, so I’ll make a point of going in next time I’m passing.

Obviously a cure is the aim, but the treatment discussed seems to have little or no side-effects which would be a massive improvement for many of those unfortunate enough to have to undergo treatment like chemotherapy, and for those who care for them.

  3. Bojan. Touted as the ‘next Messi’. Now being touted as the next Kris Commons ;-)

At the right price, I’d take him. I think our manager could help in his belated development.

For all the graft of Broonie and Armstrong, we have really missed Tom Rogic.

Well, I can certainly think of one other Swede who made a big contribution to our well being!

Interesting insight to the attitudes you’ve observed through your work.

Not sure Bojan has the work ethic BR looks for-but what a player when he is on song.

Maybe ideal for managing him to his potential,at last.

Total agreement. He can be a wee genius.

  7. Hope BR gives Eboue a game this weekend.Maybe a bit soon to say this, but from what I have seen,we could have someone special here.As usual we will be up against a few “Hammer throwers”.Need to be careful.

Not aware of any taxi firms.

It’s a 10 minute walk to Helen St at the Police Scotland office. If you’re ahead of the crowd it’s two minutes onto the M8 westbound from there.

Some of the guys who have been to Ibrox recently may be able to advise on the restrictions and detours placed on exiting supporters.

    Good luck.

Good luck. Maybe one or two of our resident cabbies can provide the answer.

If not, might be worth a try booking a private hire in advance.

Speaking of young uns,Good Friday last year gave many of us the privilege of seeing Celtic U-16s,along with some other big club youth teams.

We had a marvellous wee player, but for all his skill, you worried that he wouldn’t reach his potential.

U-16 but he looked about twelve. Another Messi isn’t likely to strike twice so quickly.

Turns out he was only 13,that’s why he was so wee!

High hopes for Karamoke Dembele, and we can say we were there!!!!!
