Ice cream, jelly and our profane enemies

280

Trips to Inverness and Aberdeen offer the Celtic support travelling from the west of Scotland ample opportunity for the odd libation at early lunch stops along the way.  As a result, recent seasons have seen enemies of our club set their recorders to capture every utterance from the famous Celtic away support, keen to grab an opportunity to expose and exploit anything which could possibility cause offence.  These people are a bit like the National Viewers’ and Listeners Association, but with tattoos and a more libertarian take on profanity.

The ice cream and jelly show these guardians of public morals had to endure on Saturday would have caused ultimate distress.  Ultimate, that was, until Sunday brought a new level of consciousness.  And profanity.

It’s almost like everything is coming together for one side of the city while the other side is being Flushed Away.  Like a horrible wee jobby.

Yesterday may have been the most enjoyable day I’ve had reading Celtic Quick News.  As a result, I used the ‘share’ button at the bottom of each comment extensively.  If you are on Facebook or Twitter you can use this button to post your own comment, in context, to your social media facilities.

You can also use it to share, or give prominence to, any comment you think important enough for a wider audience, or simply because it is too funny not to share.  There is a lot of great material on here that deserves to be read as widely as possible.

By default, the share facility places the article title in the text box, which is not very helpful.  So if you use it (which I hope you do after the trouble Andrew in Belfast went to installing it in the first place), it’s a good idea to copy some of the comment and past that into the dialogue box.

    My dear,dear Kojo……

    Couldn’t agree more !

If every other day,you descended in the gilded lift of your Mini-Versailles Repro Condo,to the Batmobile underground garage complex, only to find that yet again, someone had fitted an exotically graffiti’d cartwheel to the front n/s of your Special Edition Rolls Royce Silver Cloud*,who could blame you if you went rummaging in the trunk for the twa emergency distress flares .

Soitenly not Virginia, even when she’s wearing the Beanie Hat wi’ the twa propellers…..

    Yer pal,who thinks yer a Brammer….

  2. Kojo,,,,, it’s all about opinions but may i remind the forum that your the man who didn’t rate Stan Petrov, thought Scott Mcdonald and WGS were stars, you hadint a scooby who Peter Grant was,,, now your questioning Neil Lennons’ man management skills,,, no one, absolutely no one out side of the Celtic dressing room can start to imagine what Scott Brown brings to the team,, to even consider that James and Scott’s contribution can be compared shows you up for the self righteous, self important soccer imbecile that you are,, if you seriously refuse to see the merit in playing Scott Brown a head of James Forrest against a Terry Butcher team of hammer throwers on a bitter day in the highlands then please may i respectfully request you keep your opinions to your self in future,,

Young players do not develop on a predictable linear path. Also, they play in different positions and are subject to different pressures, physical and mental.

Rogne as a Centre Back, for example, as well as developing physically against rugged opponents who may know all the tricks, has to develop positional sense, concentration, communication. He will benefit from continuity of playing partners and consistency of defence set up.

Forrest is a forward who relies on explosive bursts of pace. He has more freedom to go where he can cause damage whilst, when playing wide, developing the discipline and game intelligence to know when to track back. Physically, because he relies on explosive pace, I’d expect him to have to be rested occasionally, as when the pace loses it’s edge, so does his game overall.

Forrest is a key 1st team member and there is no indication Lennon will be unnecessarily restricting his game time. Brown has been excellent by the way but that doesn’t preclude Forrest playing.

  4. You can see what the plan was with the cup draw, a home tie for the Dark Side against us mega bucks for them. Only they went and blew it yesterday and they had to quickly change the name on the hot ball. Or maybe I,m just paranoid. Hail Hail Hebcelt

  5. That’s 9 domestic away draws in a row, last home draw was first round league cup last season against ICT . It’s not the away draw that bothers me(why should it we have a good record) just the continued cost !

  6. That’s ten in a row away from home (St Mirren, Morton, Dunfermline, Kilmarnock, Berwick, ******, Caley Thistle, Peterheid, Caley Thistle and Dundee United).

You’d think they’d at least be subtle about it…

  7. Dundee United – 7th in SPL, behind St Johnstone, Murderwell, Hertz and Aberdeen. On what basis are they the hardest draw we could have got ?

  8. playfusbal4dguilders on

    Guys lets not be negative.

Had we been offered, on Friday, an away tie to DU in the next round of the cup we’d have gladly accepted that.

So at what time do we get drawn away at Tannadice today then?

Last chance for them to put a spanner in the works so here we go…………..

  10. I hazily recall that one Paul_67 predicted our next round opponents and venue on Friday afternoon… Is he psychic!

  11. A better draw than Motherwell away or Hearts away or even Hibs (re invigorated).

They are in the bottom half of the SPL. Home would have been better……

    Hearts v Hibs

    Aberdeen v Celtic

    In the Semis

These will show the future for Scottish Football post the demise of Rangers…..

    40000 plus crowds at Hampden……

Then the chance for Hampden covered in green just as in MON’s treble year and also in 69 when we won the League Cup v Hibs as part of that treble. …….

    Am loving it !

  12. Hearts or St Johnstone v St Mirren or Ross County

Ayr United or Falkirk v Hibernian

    Dundee Utd v Celtic

Motherwell v Aberdeen or Queen of the South

  13. Lets just go and do Utd and ram it right up the SFA….again , by winning the treble and watch their faces when they have to hand Broony that trophy for the 2nd year running and a record 36th time!

BTW i personally think away to murderwell at the coo park would have been a harder tie.

Dundee Utd. away should hold no fear for us if we approach the match in the right frame of mind which I am sure Lennie and his back room staff will ensure.I think if im correct before yesterday United had only won 2 matches in there last nine not the type of form to worry about. However, they will have gained confidence from yesterday so it should be a good tie.H.H.

  16. Awe_Naw (14:36): “WHo´d have thunk it. The most difficult away tie possible.”

    I beg to differ.

The Dundee United players will be so confident that they can do to Celtic what they did to our crisis-ridden neighbours, that I suspect we will do them over good and proper. They will soon lose their over-confident swagger when we give them a proper footballing lesson.

I was half expecting us to face a Fir Park mud-fest, but I would suggest that the most difficult draw would have been a trip to Tynecastle, if the wee buns actually get through to the next round.

Against Dundee United we have lost just 1 of our last 47 games home and away, and our record over the last 20 trips to Tannadice reads: W16 D3 L1.

Further to this, no Scottish team has scored against Celtic on their own ground since Motherwell did so in the 11th minute of the game on 6th November 2011. Since that goal Celtic’s defence has gone unbreached on a Scottish opponent’s own pitch for an incredible 738 minutes.

I would proffer that Celtic would be at a greater risk of slipping up had they been drawn at home.

Onwards we march towards yet another piece of silverware. I look forward to our games against Motherwell and Hearts in the semi finals and final of the Scottish Cup.

    Walk on…

    Agree with you 100%

AND, fair play to you, you have turned the conversation around, and, lo and behold, we

    are now discussing FOOTBALL.

I will offer my considered opinions shortly.

(Damn work to be done first).

  19. Do we get to put a wee white star on our strips for winning the Scots cup more than anyone else or is a club that would put anything but a ‘Big cup’ star on their shirts really really pathetic?

  20. On Friday or maybe Saturday Paul67 posted that he would take D Utd away. Well we have them now thanks to delightful circumstances. We will be too good for them and to cause further dismay we will win this treble. Our team is learning.

  21. Wonder how long it took MBB to whip out the calculator and work out how much Swally has cost him by losing out to DU. Half the gate money and tv dosh too in what would have been a sell out £42 per ticket at Celtic Park.

Might be part of the agenda at tomorrow’s speculated meeting.

  22. I for one am glad we have Dundee United next – I’m not sure if the stats would bear me out but we don’t seem to do that well at Hampden – Especially in Semi Finals, lets beat them NOW.

Know the Whytie jobby has returned,he’s taking dogs abuse at the moment but when he screws every last penny out of the peepill, the Whytie jobby will disappear again.

  24. Celtic help further to bring the Dundee Hibernian debt down by filling their ground and then signing Johnny Russell in the summer.

Can we rely on their vote against Newco Rangers entering the SPL?

    I would hope so!

Very predictable draw, but I’m ok with it, we’ve a very good record at Tannadice so quietly confident.

On Assassins Creed, by way of establishing my credentials I got a cyber-kicking from certain posters on Saturday night for pointing out the reality of Celtic being a Catholic club in its roots and ethos. I type this from the presbytery of my local parish and give way to no-one in my devotion to the Church.

Having said that, I love the Assassins Creed games, and enjoy them for what they are – escapist nonsense. You don’t actually kill the Borgia Pope anyway, you let him go and his son Cesare kills him in the Brotherhood installment.

The storyline is straight from the Da Vinci Code school of crapistory. Not really to be taken seriously.
