Illegal EBTs and Sporting Advantage question remains

633

Sir David Murray, Campbell Ogilvie, Dave King, as directors of a football club, you presided over tax evasion. While ordinary men and women have no choice, or criminal urge, to avoid paying for public services, you directed a deception on an industrial scale.

Sir David Murray and Campbell Ogilvie have their influence and signatures all over this act. The SFA was quick to discipline and sine die Craig Whyte after he was out of the game, it must now charge Murray and Ogilvie with bringing the game into disrepute. The stale influence of cronyism at Hampden must be routed and seen to be so.

The SPFL instructed an inquiry three years ago but with this verdict in, the SFA must appoint their own inquiry.

Why did the processes at Hampden allow this to happen and continue without check?

Why did Rangers get their European licence in 2011 despite being in arrears to HMRC, in contravention of that licence?  Who was responsible for this decision?

Why was a director and signatory of Rangers illegal tax schemes elected and reappointed president of the SFA?

How transparent were the SFA and the SPL in their handling of these tax evasion charges?

Was the SPL inquiry commissioned to uncover the facts, or to meet a desired objective?  Who prepared the inquiry remit and who signed off on that remit?

Lord Nimmo Smith found that legally executed Employee Benefit Trusts did not confer a significant sporting advantage.  In light of what I have already read of the verdict, we must now discover if such widespread illegal Employee Benefit Trusts conferred a sporting advantage.  This question has not been asked yet.

It’s time for football to shake off the shackles of corruption in Scotland, as elsewhere.

  2. I get the feeling the fans are going to have to take the SFA and their own clubs to task, over the mass cheating. We were going to games home and away ,throughout the cheating years,in rigged competitions.I remember some teams were chasing Oldco ,re CL defeats from the cheating huns, and lost revenue,it might take something like this,to light a fire under Regan & Co.

Please share your thought processes with us tonight Mr McCann? And kindly evaluate your decision to ally with the establishment.

I’m going to make a list of all the games I was at with my brother (RIP) , we rarely missed one, every football fan that ever attended a game against them in the EBT time frame, was now ‘officially’ cheated.

I agree with BRTH today is merely the next chapter of the story, and the knee jerk denial’s and piffle by the press, mean nothing.

The truth is out there now.

WE WOULD like to correct some misleading information that has been circulating on what is described as the “Big Tax Case”.

For the avoidance of doubt, Rangers have not lost the case. There is no question of any liability impacting on our Club, its history or any member of the Rangers International Football Club plc Group.

The Rangers Football Club and the entities which currently own and manage it are not party to these proceedings nor do we have any say in what happens. The proceedings are a matter for those affected by them.

We note that the assessments for tax which were the subject for appeal and which are referred to as the Big Tax Case relate to Murray Group Holdings Limited, Murray Group Management Limited, The Premier Group Property Limited, GM Mining Limited and RFC 2012 PLC (in liquidation).

  9. I couldn’t resist listening to Clyde tonight. Many commented on how brave the bold Alex Rae was to agree to take part. However surely this hero was delighted with today’s news. In the unlikely event that he had to pay tax, it would be far less than paying back his loan. Unless he’s already paid it back of course. Why doesn’t someone ask him or Dodds if they’ve paid and if not when they would.

  10. Just heard that the wee joiner I paid cash to a few years back to fit my kitchen has been captured by HMRC for failing to pay any tax on his earnings from my job and many others. Heard that he is also out of business himself but someone else took over the reins and is now running g the business at a loss. I’ve now been informed that workmen will be attending my abode and others next week and the said kitchen will be stripped out and the work will be handed to another firm who thought they should have had the job in the first place. Does anyone think that my original joiner and his sub contractors are giving a flying duck as when he was having a great time spending my money and there is no chance of the HMRC seeing any of it. Anyway does anyone want to buy an already well used kitchen going cheap. Btw I hope the disadvantaged firm who come into replace my kitchen employ tradesmen that will fit it to a high European standard

The law does not apply within the confines of football. I think everone is forgetting that. They can. They have. They will do as they like without fear or favour …remember that one folks

What we are witnessing is the establishment clearing tbe decks with regards further EBT usage.. Past EBT usage will not be looked at. HMRC might end up with a few thousand more. End of.

The only entity that can contest anything is Celtic.

That will never happen as we are majority owned by those thay are very well served by tbe establishment.

I hope I am proved wrong.

The Old Firm ends now. The SFA is dismantled. A level playing field for all. Transparency and accountability. Sporting merit not subdued for the sake of making money. If that were to happen DD would sell up.

    I don”t see it happening.

Choreography is all you are witnessing.

    Re: the recipients of EBT

“We accordingly conclude that the primary argument presented for HMRC is correct: the payments made by the respondents to the Trustee of the Principal Trust in respect of employees were emoluments or earnings and are accordingly subject to income tax. Furthermore, those payments were made at the time of payment to the trustee of the Principal Trust, with the result that the obligation to deduct tax under the PAYE system fell on the employer who made such a payment.”

So does that not let McCann and his pals off the hook?

    ———————————————————

Possibly mate. All I know is that HMRC have sent out thousands of APNs – to individuals, not to their employers – looking for the cash. Not sure why these employees would be treated any differently?

One of the recipients of illegal EBT and who was therefore improperly registered- Kris Boyd. Remove his goals and give the record goalscorer title to the rightful owner.

That Rangers statement. Even Rangers supporters must be reading it thinking wtf.

It effectively says that some company that controlled the club put the Ebt scheme in place. Presumably the current directors who were on the old board knew nothing of them?

We are the same club but not the same company… Don’t punish the new company for what the old company did to our same club by taking away titles or about £400k in cash!

It’s ok. I am sure Campbell Ogilvie will put his blow torch to good use and sort this mess out.

    With regards Resolution 12.

Surely there is no reason now for the legal tiptoeing to continue AND more importantly the PLC not only to back it but to pursue other lines of enquiry tbat must be fully establushed.

I predict tbe next AzGM will make Clyde Super Scoreboard look like tbe Spanish inquisition

It is a shame that the deal that Fergus proposed was hijacked due to being unable to compete with Sir David Mureay and his mates.

In the name of Celtic and everything I believe in if we do not pursue jjustice in the name of the likes of Tommy Burns only one example tben we do not have Celtic men at tbe helm but oarasites.
