There has been an enormous amount of guff said and written during the last five months but last night’s statement by Inverness Caledonian Thistle chairman, Kenny Cameron, is surely is up there with the most bizarre.
“All clubs will now have to live with the repercussions of this decision. Scottish football was at a cross roads today in terms of what was on the table for all clubs regarding reorganisation, financial distribution and a road map that would have taken the game forward.
“But this has now been thrown in to disarray by this decision. This is a sad day for all clubs in Scotland.
“Certain clubs in the SFL have perceived the financial information they were receiving as a ‘big stick’ to beat them into accepting Newco in the First Division. This was definitely not the case, as far as I am concerned. What they were being told was the reality of the situation.
“We will be convening an emergency board meeting over the weekend to discuss the very serious financial implications for us as a club going forward.”
Instead of explaining to the people of Inverness that buying season tickets will prevent the club making non-football staff redundant he seems to be preparing the ground for significant cutbacks.
This is the reality for every club in the SPL and several in the SFL. Fans, including Inverness fans, demanded that a sporting element was retained in their game. Now they’ve gotten their way, Inverness and the rest should be putting out the clarion call for fans to buy tickets.
As football fans, this is our responsibility. 35 out of 42 clubs voted to reject Sevco into anything other than the bottom level of Scottish football. Now we must step forward.
P.S. You don’t really need me to tell you, but buy a season ticket now!

St Mirren? Astonishing hypocrisy! They condemn the SFL clubs for taking exactly the same decision as they did!!!!
I love my wee trips over the bridge to Dumbarton.
went for a haircut, i nearly never go the same place, allways just stop wherever.
Popped into the barbers at the Bridge next door to the pub.
Older fella doing the cutting.
No seen you before, you not from about here.
used to work over this way, but i am from the Port.
My Lisbon Lions t-shirt gave me away as a Tim.
Next half hour spoke all things Celtic, The McGinns, Johnny Madden, Jimmy McGrory, Johnny Higgins, and thems. Magic so it was.
He had a cabinet full of Celtic books.
Onto ASDA.
Two Tims in one aisle discussing the voting, loud and proud.
Another bhoy in a St Pauli t-shirt,
Then a family bedecked in Hoops.
Like I said, I love Dumbarton.
Strong statement from Dundee Utd on SSN, against formation of SPL2 and the efforts to shoehorn Sevco into said league. Hail Hail
‘Newsroom’ on Atlantic
Excellent insight into how news/truth should be reported.
Hope some of our Scottish media were watching
with a real sense of shame.
Well played Alex Thomson.
Perhaps when Regan said there’s no way the huns will be playing in Division 3 next season, he actually meant to say “there’s no way the huns will be playing anywhere next season”.
Makes sense to me.

Dundee United statement:
Following yesterday’s democratic vote by the SFL clubs in favour of admitting The Rangers Football Club as an associate member of the SFL, but with the Third Division being the only acceptable position, Dundee United will now focus on our upcoming campaign while working together with the other SPL clubs to ensure the stability of the SPL and Scottish football in what will be an uncertain and extremely challenging financial environment.
For the avoidance of doubt, following yesterday’s vote, the Club would not support any counter proposals for the formation of SPL 2 or regarding any other route for The Rangers Football Club to join the SPL.
Now is the time for everyone to be united as one and we ask our supporters to stand alongside us as we face the challenges ahead.
Sounds of silence……brilliant

Surely every other club in Scotia has won an award of some sort or another at some time.

Celtic should start up their own TV ……… Telling the SFA it shouldn’t be a problem for them to ignore agreements / rules…….after all, they’re VERY good at that…..

Cool ………!!!!
Sky wouldn’t want the bad publicity, of pulling out of what is a paltry contract anyway.Sky,BBC,maybe Channel 5 would see a novelty value in showing Sevco’s Div 3 games.SPL 2 will happen next season, with the usual doses of MIB cheating, they will be back in the SPL a year earlier IMO.
Dumbarton the only place that makes the Port look like Las Vegas

I can feel a social,geography debate coming on :}
Clashcitybhoy I agree this is innovative thinking alright but I don’t think it needs to be this innovative tbh. The product on offer is just as attractive as a filler for SS and the advertising and subscription revenue they generate is far higher than the deal that has been negotiated.
ESPN don’t have the EPL anymore and they will be looking for some product to fill their schedule, there is also the BBC and the new broadcaster in the form of BT.
SS pay 195m for for three years coverage of the championship (down from the last deal of 265m), that’s 65m per season! for a second tier competition!
All we need is decent negotiators and to be fair some new rules in relation to spread of the tv money as the more even distribution the more even and competitive the product which is the main reason why the EPL is so successful.
Glad to see Dundee Utd speaking out against any plans to rescue der hun.
There’s a real divide forming in Scottish football just now, between the pro and anti-Sevco factions. Pro-Sevco is by far the smaller, and if there is any attempt to force a reconstruction in their favour, Celtic should lead the anti-Sevco clubs out of the SPL and form an Integrity League.
The paltry tv deal negotiated by Doncaster is reason enough for him to be sacked.

It was the Glencairn then. Mrs EDB and myself stumbled into Optical Express this afternoon just a few doors down from the barbers you were in:o)
The barber’s was owned by the Dynowski family for many years but not sure if it still is.
I remember many years ago during the Greig management era I used to get a good laugh looking at the “supporters notes” printed in the Evening Times advising everyone when buses would leave for games….
There used to be some great ones….
FollowFollow……….no bus
Loyal and True…….no bus
No Surrender………no bus
Aye Ready…………..no bus
LOL 625………………no bus
LaptopLoyal…………Bus full
Brigton Loyal………..scooter leaving at…
Get the feeling these notices could be getting dusted down again.
I think after this shambles,Celtic should be seriously consider going it alone and set up our own TV deal. What’s to stop us? Rules are being ripped up daily, and being re-written as we post.Go it alone.
Cheers book bhoys
I’ll get onto amazon.
