A wonderful result from the Celts tonight.

It’s very frustrating to hear one of our games on Radio Scotland when Rob Mclean is the commentator. The man doesn’t do radio at all and seems to think that anyone listening to him has simply turned the sound down on the tv picture. I find that it’s better to tune him out altogether and follow the pattern of the background crowd noise. As to the accompanying summarizers – dearie me!

Already looking forward to being at the game on Sunday.

Don`t know about Man U fans.

Far far less exposure to English football in the `60s than there is now.

One match covered by TV in Scotland and probably England .

Hello , hello we are the Timaloys

Hello , hello can tell us by the noise

Up to the knees in o- a- ge blood

    Surrender or you`ll die

For we are the Glasgow Timaloys.

  3. Bomber Brown doesn’t count. We may enjoy him, but he’s not really friendly, is he?

  7. Missed the game tonight as I’m away for a short break with the missus. So grateful to CQN for updates. Switched on my mobile 4 times during dinner and we had just scored each time. Sadly didn’t work on 5th attempt :-). Many thanks to the guys who posted the goals. Made my night complete.

    I love Celtic.

    Hail! Hail!

  8. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

The BBC website have the highlights from tonight’s game, up.

Another excellent performance from us tonight, long may it continue.

I saw an interview with Brendan , from yesterday’s pre match press conference .

In it he says , he can learn more listening to John Clark for a few minutes than he could from any coaching course. He said he talks to john and Danny McGrain a lot as they are in and around Bobby Lennoxtwn , often.

Brendan is our leader and long may that be the case.

McLean isnae a Francie, Montford or McPherson. My favourite commentator as a child was Ian Archer on STV.

I saw the Troggs at Airdrie Palais. 65/66.

    I was unimpressed.

In and out. Very short set.

  14. Sang the orange blood song. Sang the spikey railings song. Banter. Blood isn’t orange. Nor is it Fenian.

    My shame and regret.

Wish I’d had blue blood, all would have been different. Oh, wait a minit……..

Does that mean that, like the Manchester, The Rangers will disappear without trace, to be forgotten in a couple of decades?

Could be. After all, who now remembers ES Clydebank?

  17. DD…

Looking forward to catching up and having a good time in Lisbon, it’s been a while since we met up.

I’ll need to be on my best behaviour though. :))

  18. Oh good it’s going to pieces for Rangers Madrid. What got into Gareth Bale?

Saw them at the Men`s Union. `69 maybe.

    Good long set.

Probably because they were at the end of their hit making period.

The East Stirling Clydebank initiative ended Jack Steadman in this town. His legacy is a bingo hall and Aldi store on Kilbowie Park.

When I’m not at a game, it’s better for me to watch it where music is played while the game’s on. Didn’t cover myself in glory at the Red Imps game last summer, in the H&B, because I could hear the biased commentary.

As an aside, my brother in law walks the hills and tells me going over to the Humphrey from Station Rd, you only need to get as far as the first trig point before there’s a view down the coast to Ailsa Craig.

It might be a small world but I wouldn’t want to walk it’s length.

  23. DD

I know. One of my many vague memories is a sunny early season match on the grassy slopes of Kilbowie before it became all seated. Couple a guys, few cans of lager, before the days of Kestrel and shell suits (maybe), Sons winning comfortably. Well, I was comfortable anyway.

Loved going to Kilbowie to see Davie Cooper. Hated Jim Fallon because he was so good against the Sons. Happy days, but they had to end. Didn’t they?

If only they had Dave King’s travel expenses.

  24. Delaneys Dunky on

I go up the Humphrey, puff a doobie then look in wonder at the Clydebank/Glasgow toytown below me. Magical.

  25. DD

He was too good a football player for them, maybe a bit like Jim Baxter. What would Jock have made of both of them? What would Brendan do with them? But respect to DC, what a left wand.

  26. Thinking about Davie Cooper and his choice of the wrong team.

What team would Jock Stein have picked if Jim Baxter and Denis Law were in the squad?

The answer is easy. But what if Joe McBride had been fit?

  27. And while we’re on the nostalgia thing, I don’t know where the Humphrey is but my old dad occasionally tells me about being up the Long Craigs watching the Heinkels bombing Clydebank.

In my father’s lifetime. See the problem I’ve got with which Airfix model to do next? Not to mention the problem I have with those who want to sunder a unified Europe.
