Make what you wish of Strathclyde Police reporting Celtic fans for “illicit chanting” to a Uefa match observer in October, the bottom line is that Uefa have fined Celtic €15,000 (around £12,700), established a benchmark for future action and more importantly sullied the club’s reputation.
Job done by those who wanted this confrontation to happen.

jbhoy88>Stewart Regan is not a friend of Celtic< @ 22:52
You make an important point.
I remember stumbling across a distasteful youtube video of an oo gathering under the bridge, which sees them hitting a peak of hateful ecstasy. On the comments section, some poor foreigner (Spanish or Italian from memory), being ignorant to what it represented, commented that it seemed a powerful occasion, and would be keen to see it when on holiday here at a later date.
The graceful poster replied with the advice to come along, and wear a Celtic top as this would guarantee a friendly welcome.
Someone else's holiday here ruined then.

@bl00tered @CelticResearch It’s now up to 14 tweets from @ScottishPolice publicising Celtic being fined by UEFA. Still nil on EasterRd bile
I refuse to believe that the reason for suppression of the data on sectarian attacks was a concern among the SNP Leaderschaft that it would cause difficulties for an independent Scotland intent on gaining admission to the ‘Catholic’ EEC.Risible,actually.
Jesus time flies – bed time!
The Wolfe Tones Noel Nagel lost his son today, think he has been ill for a while..

It was in relation to the fine imposed by UEFA today.
I asked why clubs who were guilty of racist chanting were fined less than Celtic.
Parma, Juventus etc.
I also pointed out Barcelona were not fined for the racist chants in a previous game versus Real Madrid.
Also stated that Legia Warsaw were fined less for a political statement by their fans.
I finally pointed out the sectarian chanting at Easter Road on Saturday and asked will
the police forces in Scotland treat all clubs the same.
I don’t post often as I prefer to lurk but I’m totally disgusted tonight. For years we have had to listen to the currants and their despicable repertoire, we’ve had to watch whilst they welcomed leading paramilitaries into their ground, whilst the flying pig made a high profile gesture to commemorate the death of Billy Wright. We’ve had to stand by whilst the Orange Order “kick the Pope” all over Scotland. We’re paranoid, can’t see the funny side and are too easily offended. Yet we are now classed the same as them.
But I feel that we have an opportunity presented by the fast approaching game against bankruptcy fc. This game will be seen all over the world, we could and should find a way to point out every disgusting, despicable word that comes from their fans mouths. You know they will they can’t help themselves.
I’m not the cleverest guy in the world and I don’t know how we would do it. But the Green Brigade and the Celtic fans have some sharp minds amongst them, I’m sure they could find a way to highlight to the watching and listening millions when they start their p1$h.
Remember the brilliant Scotland’s Shame ===> banner?
Who knows maybe we could turn the tables on the polis and video them not videoing the currants.
I expect a vigorous rebuke from Celtic, I don’t just want to know what the illicit charge was, I want to see the evidence, as yet I haven’t seen anything that suggests we have a case to answer.
Eddie what did you hear? I’m sure you were videoing the culprits so let us hear it?

The establishment here, and its blind minions, associate Celtic with Catholicism, and as a result, see as us a far too vocal representation of that community.
Yet another example of their ignorance.
As our supporters have proven to be amongst the best in the world, and still are in our eyes of course, yet again, the waters have been muddied by the ignorant and the bigoted.
Of course they hate Celtic because they see us Irish and Catholic.
This is a particular nuance of Scotland, to bitterly hate these communities, and see them as one.

I well see where you are coming from, and I agree to an extent, but there is no way in my mind the the bold eddie did this of his own back.
He had orders from on high, it’s gone way beyond petty revenge from a disgruntled referee.
The bold eddie would have not had the balls without strict authority.
And I think you know that.

The Linwood striker of fond memory..a fine Abbey Celt.. we could do with him right now.
Did you know that the first Celt Captain to lift the Scottish Cup in 1892 was Pat Gallacher from the Abbey parish and a team-mate Peter Dowds was from the same hallowed ground
I have a foto of my great grandfather in a local team with Peter Dowds in 1887…5 years before he win that Scottish Cup medal with Celts
There was another Pat Gallagher and first regular keeper Will Dunning..the mighty Dan Doyle, tragic pair of Peter Scarff & Bertie Thomson and John Kennedy (the best you’ve ever seen..), Davie Hay, Paul Lambert in the modern era
The Celtic force is strong in the oul’ Abbey parish

i believe as far as the individual policeman is concerned it was an act of personal advancement.

Just a wee insight in to the name, I lived right across the road from it when i
was a bhoy and ma wee granny was a hawker , by that time it was being used mainly
by our commenwealth cousins and not so much by the Irish community that had given
it the name as they came off the famine ships that docked at the clyde now I digress.
It was some place,
Anyway if we have even a fraction of the spirit of those that came off those ships and set
up the Irish community in this great city then we will get through this latest challenge that
befalls us, but we must,,,,stick together,, united we stand divided we fall never truer

That’s an excellent post imo.
There’s a chance here to turn all the negativity (from off the pitch!!!!) in our favour.
Hope the GB can get their best thinkers together and use this game to make a much needed statement.
The way these fholks have been persecuted has been disgusting, but if they get the thinking caps on, they can turn this on its heid.

jbhoy88>Stewart Regan is not a friend of Celtic< @ 23:05
I could tell you worse from personal experiences in the past couple of years I'm afraid. And not even in Glasgow. Two incidents in Edinburgh.
An Irish friend heid-butted in Edinburgh because of his Mayo accent.
A Danish lassie targeted because she had an Irish accent. But they didn't just verbally abuse her.
They engaged us all in conversation, claiming that one of them was Irish, so we would identify the Irish diaspora amongst us.
Three of them turned on me, in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon, in the city. As the biggest and ugliest fecker out of the three of them held his stinking coupon an inch from mine, it was a stareout which seemed to last for an eternity.
I do know thought, that the polis arrived an hour later in the Irish pub across the road. This was in June this year.
What one week in the greatest small minded country in the world can do!
Either there have been no other fans reported by the match commanders or Rob Shorthouse leaks only when it involves Celtic.
Of course, these statements are not mutually exclusive.

No apols necessary actually. Was thinking about it there – when we’re (Celtic) under attack, it brings out the defensive in me, I’ve done it myself.
In actual fact, you were right to react as you did, even though I was only asking a question – defend your Church at every opportunity, as it is under serious attack in this country, amigo !!
