Hamstrings are one of the most pernicious injuries a player can get. They can inflict untold damage across many years. Shaun Maloney was plagued for years, before eventually finding a way to train and play that protected his damaged muscle.
Get the deal with Benfica ready to sign, pending a fitness test as late in the season as possible. If he does not play for an extended period without remission, we should not sign him. If you want to maximise your potential as a club, there is no room for sentiment or wishful thinking.

Think i read or saw that LF tests pick up about 35% of infections not great but a starting point not all infected people have symptoms, PCRs are more accurate and allow scientists to genomic sequence the virus to detect mutations that we hear about we have had Alpha Delta and Omicron since this thing began.

Similarly, no one ever said the Omicron variant was going to be more deadly than the previous strain. What they did say was :-
a) at the beginning, they did not know how it was going to be but they needed to prepare quickly with serious measures for it because it is better to be safe than sorry, and
b) Very quickly they were learning from S. Africa and elsewhere that this variant was much more likely to spread quickly but much less likely to cause as much significant harm as previous strains. This is good news and should result in relaxations of restrictions as we saw today

The danger from the milder but more spreadable strain of Omicron is that too many people are forced to isolate for too long that hospitals and services become overwhelmed and cannot function. A milder strain that more people catch can be as socially and economically harmful as a deadlier strain that effects fewer people. Its only advantage is that there will be fewer deaths.

Sadly, the maverick politicians, Trump and Johnson, have lost all credibility with their vaccilations between “it will all be alright”, followed by panic measures, and the utter utter stupidity of proclaiming Freedom Day, when they knew this was going to revisit us.
Even Sturgeon, who was much more sensible and guarded has made the mistake of wanting to be seen to be different from the English in her approach, which workd well when they are making mistakes but not so much when they stumble onto a reasonable path.
I despair that we cannot walk a middle path anymore but have to chose sides. We can reduce the more serious limitations on our lifestyle and earnings if we are willing to undergo small changes in our lifestyle. Regular sanitation of yourself and contact surfaces and purchased products, observing social distance measures, and mask wearing in indoor spaces, play a part way in reducing risks. Intermittent lockdowns and increased restrictions for new variants also need to be considered and respected. The medical staf advising you to do this are more knowledgeable and better trained than you and I. They have no desire to do you harm, to worship Bill Gates or any New World Order, or to introduce fascism by stealth.
Now, those idiots promoting misinformation that they know to be false , I think they are more attracted to the right wing ideology of fascism.
P.S. It should not be necessary to say so but this is not directed at any individuals on here. It is fine to be sceptical, but not cynical, and to express doubts. But please, any talk of enslavement or scientists being in conspiracy is just too pitiful and childish a use of words.
