Justifying bitterness

1111

I have two significant concerns about Walter Smith’s comments yesterday. He spoke about the events which followed Rangers liquidation in 2012:

“There was no necessity for Rangers to be put down into the Third Division.

“That will always stay in Scottish football. There will be a bitterness in the Rangers ranks. It will be a massive motivation for the club. It would certainly be for me.

“How can they forget what happened to them? Nobody could forget that.”

I’ve spoken to people at Celtic about security concerns ahead of the weekend. The game itself will almost certainly pass off without incident, but what happens on the streets of Glasgow and surrounding towns is anyone’s guess.

You will hear nothing even close to inflammatory from Celtic, senior fans groups, or anyone who cares about the club’s fans and wellbeing. Justifying bitterness due to (mis)perceived persecution ahead of this fixture is inciteful.  I’m astonished Smith said this.

On his subject matter, let me give you an alternative scenario:

Newco Rangers are parachuted straight into the Premier League, hundreds of creditors are abandoned, they have a full squad of players and are not a penny in debt. They would have been out signing players within minutes of registration (they even tried to sign a player while still in administration).

With Oldco having won the league accumulating debts they would never pay in 2009, 2010 and 2011, Newco, free of legacy financial commitments, would have an excellent chance of winning again in 2013 and beyond.

This plan was one strand of Craig Whyte’s lunacy and it would have killed Scottish football. Celtic, and others, would have been left to consider, do we pay these millions of debts, or liquidate and spend the money on players instead? I had this very conversation with a senior figure in the game in October 2011, when the realisation of what Whyte was planning became evident.  Utter mayhem would have ensued.

The damage done to the Rangers brand of clubs by allowing Newco access only to the bottom tier was huge. It’s consequences are yet to be appreciated by most fans.  Newco may never win a top flight league.

But the question was not whether to impose a trauma on ‘Rangers’ or allow everyone to carry on as we had before, this was not an option. It was whether to allow the existing rules and processes to stand, allow responsibility for the enormous mismanagement of Rangers to be carried primarily by Newco, and have other clubs deal with the fallout, with or without a ‘Rangers’ club in the league.

Whyte’s plan replicated what he’d done in other industries, but it would have devastated Celtic in particular. We were beaten for years on the field by a team who could not pay their bills or correctly register their players, then we would be beaten again as they walked away from debts without consequence, which is why I wrote this article in October 2011 on the Prepack route for Rangers Newco.

Pretty much all of what I wrote about in that article came to pass, it had to be stopped (and you’ll never know the key movers in doing so).  Smith should consider if the boot was on the other foot, if he would be happy to allow his club to be subverted in the manner he suggests would be good enough for others.  It was simply never an option.

  1. And Lo! It came to pass that many did confuse personal tax avoidance schemes with corporate tax avoidance schemes. And weeminger was sad.

    kill ultra,

I’ll take a stab at your question to Auldheid,

It is simply a waste of time that’s why.

You being introduced to people who provide funds serves what end exactly ?

I’ll have a wee stab at what will happen after you meet a funder.

You will accuse them of not actually providing the funds but as being a board plant sent to cover up any links back to the Plc you will then no doubt do the same to them as you have tried to do to Auldheid, BRTH and myself and claim we are all liars that sold out res12, its exactly what you have done up till now, why should anyone believe you will change ?

  3. Canamalar:

I guessed you did but you’ve got him on a very long line. If he is not worth catching, then cut him loose and focus on good, real good.

    Good luck with all aside.

DD, Mate, again I’ve got to run, another overnight bus but the good thing about this one is once I get off I’m only a taxi ride from home.

Again, my sincere condolences, to you’, and all yours.

Ha…all the old tricks of the trade….being exposed.

Thems are really worried…because they know that when the roof collapses, the walls come tumbling down.

And you cant put the genie back in the bottle.

Putting my Nostradamus head on….i can see Bulldozers:)

The corrupt sweat and squeal….and wait till the tax bills come home to roost.

I traded my car at We buy any car.. Then bought at motor point.

I wouldn’t trade my car with them but if you are taking cash you’ll be hard pushed to find cheaper. Minimal scope for negotiating advertised price down.

Good luck – happy motoring. Get a BMW though ;-)

Motorpoint can be pretty good price-wise and if you see a car on their website that is in one of their branches down south, they will transport it up for you for around £75-100 and if you decide to buy, will waive the fee.

However, they don’t handle after-sales/warranties and you’ll have to go to a main dealer if you have any faults, so you could end back up at Crow Rd at Arnold Clark if it’s a VW.

Barry Fergushun ‘I only wanted to play football’ by Keef Jackshunguffery.

Today, the sad figure of the once great captain of the sinking ship, is a mere skeleton of the man Scoddlandio loved took to their hearts.

No more quiffs and rolexes, no more shellsuits….the glamour is gone.

Now Barry trudges mournfully to the local scrap yard to cash in his collection of nuts and bolts.

‘Ahm telling yous..its no ezy being ex-captain of the marble staircase,..when yer skinto’

‘Wizny ma fault…ah joost played fitba, whit dae ah know about money and counting things up,..why blame an innocent man’

As the tears well up in Barry’s eyes…one can only think, this guy could have been a contender.

Sadly….the fairy story, has been shattered into a million pieces.

Olympic Stadium deal overall: Vast public money spent for brief 2012 euphoria. Huge financial benefit goes to a Premier League club & owners

Will Scottish football ever see any benefits from being better together ?

  11. Kill Ultra

    What Canalamar said.

Having gone back over your posts I don’t see anything moving you from your position.

Achieving the simple end Res12 asked for might change that but I doubt it.

The aim was not to kill off RFC a resolution asking for that would have been dismissed on the grounds the PLC had no power to do that, it was an SFA/ SPL matter.

Just like the latter ignore evidence presented to them on misleading of LNS Commission and we have to wait on a result on the BTC ebt to get enough clubs supporters fired up to provide locus, the matter of TRFC rights to be allowed a place in Scottish football was never a Celtic only issue.

Being denied a CL place because of maladministration and or deliberate lies is.

To get the system to work for you you have to know how it works and how to use that to achieve an end.

The 2 and a half years on Res12 has of itself made folk more aware of how Scottish football works. Know thy enemy stuff.

I’d hold off any more demands for now.

  12. Weeminger,

Your last 2 comments seem to be clues for us to pick up re; corporate and personal tax avoidance schemes. Are there any more clues?

BARRY FERGUSHUN IN SHOCK SCRAP-YARD SHELLSUIT SHENANIGANS

Today, Barry Fergushuhn, ex-captain of the Circus of Horrors, was shell-shocked to discover that his local scrap-yard , Murdoch, McNeil, and Lennox, refused point blank to accept the various fitba medals offered by the once great shellsuit King.

‘They are worth nothing, of no value whatsoever’ said an unmoved Mr Lennox

Mr Lennox added…’sling yer hook, and dont come back’

Barry Fergushun was shattered by the whole experience…’ah mean, whits a man tae dae, ..if they dont accept yer medals, thats it….but ah will be writing to ma MP…if a can get somebody tae writ it fur me…failing that, ahll be gaun to the polis aboot they kaffliks’

I’ll have a wee guess at Weeminger’s clues, not all employees were PAYE registered, maybe they were registered companies ie self employed and responsible for their own tax returns, that would be nice :)

  17. DHARMA BAM on 14TH APRIL 2016 1:46 PM

Basically the film schemes used by many including some of our own to avoid personal taxation have been ruled illegal. Cue much wailing gnashing of teeth and cries of hypocrisy.

  18. DHARMA BAM on 14TH APRIL 2016 1:46 PM

When I say ruled illegal it’s that the Supreme Court have refused leave to appeal.

Edit – I might be ahead of myself.

  19. Weeminger,

The scheme involving investing in 2 Disney movies, that was ruled against yesterday?

Did I hear Neil Lennon’s name mentioned as being involved, or was that a different one?

  20. I thought some our players from Seville ERA had used a scheme to buy

    into films and or Forestry

Dont think it was anything to do with CFC

  21. Dharma Bam, Canamalar – Nothing to do the Rangers EBT. Separate things entirely but some of them are whatabouterring.

    See here

  22. Dharma – I think the ruling on Eclipse 35 encompasses all such schemes but as I hinted these were undertaken on a personal basis and were nothing to do with CFC.

  23. Dharma – I’ll back track wildly here and say it may also have no bearing on other film investment schemes and is merely the 1st of these types of HMRC challenges to make it this far.

The bottom line is, it was personal and not corporate level and therefor any of the hordes trying to compare the two are miles off the mark.

    I’ll shut up now.

  24. Weeminger, thanks for the info.

About halfway through your explanation, it came together and I realised what you were driving at, that these schemes were scheme(s) entered into by individuals, unlike say, for example, an offshore trust set up.by an employER.

  25. Long time ago in a galaxy pretty near Canalmar said that the board were doing nothing about “Them” getting a euro licence.

I came on here and said, when Celtic tell me they are doing nothing then I will believe it. (T D backed me up on this).

Before AGM Canalmar & others had meeting with board and Res12 was left in abeyance. I trust Canalmar & Auldheid are keeping us informed and thank them for all their hard work and hopefully we get the right outcome.

MURDOCHAUKDANDHAY@10:57 – A fantastic piece – thank you for posting.

Although proper to the Eclipse Tax Evasion Scheme, comments and judgements could easily be applied to EBT schemes, most notably the one set up for Rangers(1899-2012) by a Porn Industry baron.

Dave Hartnett in 2012 called such schemes “scams for scumbags” – I think this is also an apt term for the Murray/Rangers EBT scheme.

In future I will refer to the EBT scandal that even now dominates Scottish Football as the “The Rangers EBT Scam For Scumbags Scheme”.

    BUSES

Seems that the word bus is now becoming synonymous with CQN – we regulary get references to ‘sitting at the back of the bus”, other times great debate is generated when people are “thrown under a bus”, then of course when discussing tactics we talk of “parking the bus” remember when our erstwhile ‘Cheeky Chappie’ was lambasted for accusing us of “burning the bus” – so for me it was especially evocative to read Mr Canamalar’s reference to “driving a bus through” in one of his many replies to me on the Res12 issue yesterday.

Has anyone else any other ‘bus’ anecdotes that they would like to share?
