Key decision of the year for Neil Lennon

1418

If you thumb through the pages of the Celtic Quick News comments section you’ll find a couple of overlapping areas of indifferent form being reported.  One for Beram Kayal and one for the team as a whole.  You’ll also note several contributors commenting that Beram’s form improved after his new contract was signed, settling speculation surrounding the player.

It may be coincidental that Beram’s form seemed to pick up after his future was settled but the fact that this happened a few days after the pivotal 3-3 draw at Kilmarnock suggests a whole lot of what has been going right at Celtic was linked to the Israeli’s form in this crucial central midfield area.

Neil Lennon has a huge tactical decision to make.  Get it wrong and he will not be able to replicate the impressive run of 10 consecutive wins.  Before making a decision, a good place to research would be videos of Celtic’s run up to and including that Kilmarnock game.  Knowing some of the things to avoid is a good start.

The Huns made their ‘approach’ for Sandaza well before the 1st January, hence why Lomas is raging

It is also common courtesy in football to inform the players club that you intend to speak to him about any possible deal

The Huns did not do this until Lomas went to the media last weekend regards their conduct

  3. Ah…. my daily rag review tells me Rangers are interested in players A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M…………………..Y, but are more confident of landing player Z (who is available on a free)

Dontcha just luv the press in Scotland.

  4. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

Can somebody tell me where n when we play this weekend, been really busy all week.

  5. The Huns’ approach to Sandaza is a disgrace. It has all been played out in public, with Sally waxing lyrical about the ins and outs of the situation to his mates in the press. Usually saying something like “I don’t want to talk about another club’s player, but…” before going on to do just that for 20 minutes.

The timing of yesterday’s announcement was certainly not a coincidence IMHO.

The quotes from Lomas have been devastating. Essentially saying that the Huns have no cash, and this could all be a publicity stunt. This from a Rangers supporter!

Basically, what Lomas is saying is that if the Huns’ really want Sandaza they should either offer cash now, or tie him up on a deal straightaway. At this moment in time all they are doing is making derisory offers and making these public. No wonder Lomas and the player are unimpressed.

Agree with you there, though a jittery feeling of dread and apprehension has always been my default position.

  13. St J to be leading after 10 mins = 12/1.

Saints to be leading after 30 mins = 6/1. I will take some of that. If you check the 1st half table for this season R’gers are in 2nd with 35pts from 22 games. St J are in 3rd with 32pts from a game less. It’s pretty much evens stevens in my book, so 6/1 after 30 mins is not bad value at all.

(Incidentally the hoops are clear top on 45pts from 22games. Yep, on 1st half football we are 10 pts clear of the field)

  15. Just a reminder that London Rd. is closed at Abercromby St. to Bridgeton X because of an unsafe building. It will cause major traffic problems for the game, keep in mind for your travel plans.

Not sure what building it is but I can think of a few pubs in that area I would like a building to fall on ( when empty of course!!!!!!)

Interesting reading. In answer to your question. I hope they respond by NOT making the mistakes of the previous majority in the North. I hope they are more tolerant and respectful of those from a different tradition. No injustice or inequality. The prejudice, we the Catholic minority suffered cannot be inflicted on a Protestant minority. Make them feel confident in an Ireland where all have equal rights. Then we can truly be at peace.

All lot of responsibility lies on their young shoulders. I have every faith in them.

  18. Looking at the Daily record Online this morning anyone might think they were helping rangers to unsettle one of their opponents major players before they play them today. But hey, a dignified club would not want that sort of thing. Listening to Ally McCoists Press conference you could get the same idea. But he doesn’t talk about other clubs players does he, so he isn’t is he?

Oh and a big bid in for Hooper? must be true because the Daily record is impartial and has to make sure it is even handed in the run up to the sale of Jelavic.

Always good for a laugh the old Daily Record.

The day rangers cease to exist in their current format, the day the administrators are called in, the day they lose the tax case – the Daily Record will be right on the ball – with stories of training ground bust ups at LEnnoxtown, moves away for IZzy, Wanyama, Kayal, Ledley and anyone else who is showing a bit of form.

They are just digging their own grave, and I for one am enjoying the spectacle of their increasingly desperate bids to spin bad news for rangers.

  19. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Kano 1000 on

    Good Morning,

Here is hoping for a good performance today– and I hope there is a good wee back room chat with Mr Thomson after the game regarding the position of that other club who have the small financial difficulty!

I have not had time to respond to Paul’s message of the other day where he suggests that the Bank of Scotland may just tell clubs to vote FOR any Phoenix application if and when it arrives.

Personally I do not see things that way. For a start, each and every club in the league is likely to be slightly richer in my view– and one or two in particular will be considerably better off as the prize money from third to second jumps by one and a half million pounds!

However, the crux of the matter may come in the alleged threat. Vote for Rangers New Co or else say the bank.

    Really?

Or else what? Will Lloyds group call in the loans of every other club? Will we have 8 Administrators all trying to flog football grounds all over the country at the one time? Will such a move increase or decrease the value of say Fir Park or Tannadice or Easter Road or wherever?

Bankers are not daft– greedy yes– but not daft!

And they are also the bankers to clubs like Cowdenbeath, Stirling Albion, Airdrie United and so on– those clubs would get a turn if the proper course of action was followed.

As could be seen with Rangers PLC itself, The Lloyds group are all about money back across the board. Unlike Bank of Scotland, Lloyds do not give a kipper’s dick about Rangers and their fans. They are a city of London financial institution and they go about getting their money when they can– short term, medium term, long term! End of!

Rangers in the lower league makes financial sense to me AND it is the correct and proper thing to do.

However, even before we get there someone has to front such an application AND we have to wait for the fall out from the written decision in the big tax case– and fall out there shall be!

Remember John Reid’s words– Not fit for purpose!

Rangers PLC have either hoodwinked the SFA and SPL re contracts and benefits for a decade or more OR despite the best efforts of the SFA and SPL custodians, their rules and proceedures were not sufficient to prevent Rangers PLC being run on a basis that disadvantaged every other team in Scotland who stuck to the rules and the principals of those rules.

Any which way you look at it, whatever happened with Rangers was allowed to happen on the SFA/SPL watch– and that means that they were clearly not fit for purpose!

Basically the league in certain years was financially doped and gerrymendered by a club who did not play by the rules. Others such as the current Dundee United Chairman’s father had to invest millions of pounds of his family money to keep Dundee United afloat at a time when one club was simply allowed to corrupt the financial rules!

So will we all vote for those transgressions to be expunged with a nod and a wink– or will we send a clear messsage out saying that proper governance is required at all times and that what is needed is fair play in action rather than fair play if convenient?

No matter what, it still takes 90% to wash the dirty linen in private and it is hell of a hard to be private in a public laundrette where you all have to share the washing powder. The programme should be set to deep wash with the non bio powder– what we don’t need is the rinse and spin cycle with a cup of Rangers conditioner!

Wash the dirties thoroughly and then hang them out to dry on the third division line. After a period of time they can be ironed, folded and put away for a bit. Then and only then will they be Aye ready to wear afresh on another day!

    On other mattersL

  20. Morning all from another grey day in North Ayrshire.

First time going to Celtic Park this year. Feel like a wean going for the first time.

Am about to go out to do a bit of shopping; not being au fait with the finer Champagnes, could anyone suggest what our local Morrisons might stock which would be worthy of imbibing on the long anticipated day of their demise?

  21. Just read on etims a reference to a Tom English Article comparing the transfer policies of Celtic and The Others. Embdy point me in the direction of said article?
