Key decision of the year for Neil Lennon

1418

If you thumb through the pages of the Celtic Quick News comments section you’ll find a couple of overlapping areas of indifferent form being reported.  One for Beram Kayal and one for the team as a whole.  You’ll also note several contributors commenting that Beram’s form improved after his new contract was signed, settling speculation surrounding the player.

It may be coincidental that Beram’s form seemed to pick up after his future was settled but the fact that this happened a few days after the pivotal 3-3 draw at Kilmarnock suggests a whole lot of what has been going right at Celtic was linked to the Israeli’s form in this crucial central midfield area.

Neil Lennon has a huge tactical decision to make.  Get it wrong and he will not be able to replicate the impressive run of 10 consecutive wins.  Before making a decision, a good place to research would be videos of Celtic’s run up to and including that Kilmarnock game.  Knowing some of the things to avoid is a good start.

    Good morning bhoys from a Driech Bute – covered in mist- my wife wants to sort out the weather gods cos everyone else seems to be having a nice crisp day!

    Big game to-day( aren’t they all)

    I’m happy with Joe and Vic in the mid, maybe see wee James back on the wide swathe of Paradise.

    Hail hail

    Steve Lomas has every right to say just what he wants.

    Sandasa is currently his player and will be for 5 months more unless as he has stated someone pays the asking price up front. Even more do now that Sandasa has reportedly knocked back Rangers and their free contract.

    If the Huns are going to play out every signing in the media surely opposing managers have the right of reply.

    I wonder what striker from what team Rangers will be after next week? Hmmmm!!!

  3. Parkheadcumsalford – not an expert in the field but I’m told a good Cava is every bit as nice as a Champagne and a lot cheaper. My Mrs prefers it to champers – it took me a long time to persuade her that she did. But we got there!

    And my oh my there is a major upsurge in people looking for advice on Fizzy wine and Cigars this year.

    I myself am in the market for a good cigar and a belated thanks to all those who advised me on it last week.

    My only quandary is when, on hearing the news of their ceasing to exist (and before the kill joys jump in, yes, I know they will be back as NEwco, but old rangers are GONE.) is should I smoke the cigar A-Team Hannibal stylee (I love it when a plan comes together) or groucho marx comedy gold styleeee?

    I will be buying a second cigar for the contented sit back and grin from ear to ear moment as we win the SPL title, all being well!

    Ally McCoist confronts Rangers board over Maurice Edu bid claim

    The president of Sochaux said Rangers had encouraged his club to make a renewed bid for Edu after their first two offers were turned down. McCoist had previously said that he did not want to lose any player and had not been told he had to sell, so reports that others at the club might be trying to raise money by touting a member of his team suggested a major conflict of interest within Ibrox.

    McCoist did not reveal whether it was owner Craig Whyte, director of football Gordon Smith or some other senior figure he went to for reassurances, but he said the answers he received had convinced him that no-one had been trying to undermine him or tout Edu without his knowledge. “I obviously enquired about that,” he said. “That’s not the case. I’ve been told that’s not the case – and of course it can’t be the case.”

    When rumours were flying earlier this week about the death of Thatcher,I posted that it was somewhat anti-climactic if true,as I couldn’t work up the enthusiasm to celebrate the way I’d always thought I would.

    After all,she had just faded away,not to be pitied,just,well,irrevelevant now.

    Of course,I still detest everything she did,and all she stood for.

    HOWEVER,THAT WON’T BE THE CASE WHEN THE HUNS GO TITS UP!!!!!!!!!!

    can I suggest you go for a Prosseco instead of Champers?

    much better value and 2 bottles (at least) for the price of a decent champer

    you gotta love it -if you don’t then I will stand you a bottle of bubbly next time I’m up

  9. Robert Tressell,

    Thanks for the advice.

    As for cigars, having lived for 3 years in Holland, I think there was a brand called Schimelpecken (or something like that; it was over 40 years ago) which was well regarded.

  10. Parkheadcumsalfor,

    Of the champers easily found in supermarkets I think the best of the ‘good’ ones is Veuve Cliquout (got one waiting for huns or thatcher)which may be about 50 notes in UK but better value than the ole Dom Perignon. Moet is ubiquitous but no better than a cava as RobertTressell says. Overall, I still think that Jacobs Creek fizzy wine tastes as good as any champers and is less than a tenner. Do a. Rose as well.

    I always get proper champers for big occasions for effect but follow up with Jacobs Creek and no-one notices, bit if a reverse Jesus at the wedding!

    I read your comment the other day about GSH/THE LAST HOLIDAY-A MEMOIR.

    The reason I mention it is,he’s a long time hero of mine,and I’d just received the book with every intention of rattling through it this weekend!

    Got an open mind,of course,so even if the book fails to come up to scratch as you suggest,well….

    His music’s still faffin’ brilliant!

    PS,I think we can agree on the last bit,or you wouldn’t have bought the book in the first place.

    Dear All, I agree with the shout on either Cava or Prosecco as the alternative to over priced Champagne. I have kept a bottle of the Sainsbury Prosecco back for the league winning moment, it was on offer at Christmas and can recommend it as excellent!!

    The cigar moment will also be a quandary, do I sit back and savour the moment or leap and shout all over the place, thereby threatening the quality of the tobacco inspired moment?

    It`s going to be a tough call but one I look forward to making.

    Belated thanks for linking that excellent article by Rogue Leader

    The comparison to the Woodward and Bernstein expose and the lack of something similar happening in Scotland in relation to RFC is apt

    It is well past the time this story got shifted out of the basement and moved upstairs

    A point probably worth a mention is that if RFC get relegated to the 3rd division where would the Scottish sports media find the money to send all their expensive staff and equipment to Newco Rangers games in their new league environment

    Self preservation for the laptop loyal is a much a motive for silence on this issue as preservation of the old firm status quo is to their business in general. Without Rangers in the same league as Celtic the term “old firm” becomes obsolete as soon as they leave the SPL

    Dining at the table of succulent lamb to later feast on kebab takeways would be unpalatable for some to the point of choking their speech

    All the Presidents Men is a movie worth watching and even watching again if you have time and by not a big stretch of the imagination you could re-title it and re-structure it using a football theme.

    All the Rangers Men perhaps ?

    A wee c&p from The Telegraph,proving that I’m never too old to learn.

    Or Google,actually.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Anyway, here’s my shopfloor perspective: Sainsbury’s is a bit Jamie Oliver, ergo a bit cool, but has persistent supply chain problems that mean the shelves can be frustratingly empty; Asda is cheap but the queues are interminable; Waitrose is upmarket but quality costs (and yes, before you email me again, Mr W, I do know all about the economy range); Morrison’s do great cakes but the fruit, eerily, never seems to ripen.
    And Tesco? Um, it’s where Antony Worrall Thompson likes to pilfer his cheese and, according to DE HAUT EN BAS Jane Horrocks, who has pocketed a small fortune from adverts, “it’s full of chavs”.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I capitalised the bit in the last sentence,cos when I googled it,I couldn’t believe what it meant,bearingin mind she put it in French.

    CONDESCENDING,ffs!

    I was thinking about newco and any obstacles they could face in the double dealing .

    some have said they may just buy a lesser team in difficulty and take on their registration .

    If they wanted to do this could the chairmen of any lesser club they target ,see a chance to make a few quid the more desperate the ragers need becomes .As the close season gets shorter the price gets higher .

    Will the lesser teams have CW floppy bit in a vice and leave them in limbo or do you think they have a club already lined up .

    hail hail
