  1. the glorious balance sheet on

    The battered bunnet,

I haven`t seen any tv repeats as yet, but from my vantage point in the Chadwick Stand I have to say Cha Du Ri was rank rotten. More often than not giving the ball away, getting caught up the park, standing off his man, the man is an athlete yes, a footballer, never, and a defender – never in a quadra-zillion years.

It may be that Kayal should have tracked the run, but not an issue if Cha does his job.

No offence to Cha – he was gash, but so were 8 others.

Stokes – good goals today, but the ball never sticks with him.

Hooper – Gets injured far too easily, moans if the ball isn`t exactly where wants it, his touch and passing has deserted him, can finish really well when he`s in the mood, there`s an occasional player in there somewhere, but he`s morphed into an “Only Way is Essex” version of Scott McDonald. He`ll end up back in the Championship before long.

Mulgrew – does his best, but never made the grade at Wolves or Southend. Repeated same mistake today that he made last season. Not learning from mistakes.

Ki – A luxury that we cannot afford. I dont care how much merchandise we sell in Korea, he`s not for us at this time. We need players to get stuck in and lead by example and drag others up by their bootlaces when things arent going well. That`s not Ki`s strong suit.

Kayal – All style, but in adversity, no substance. Demeanour suggests to me a complete contempt for some of his team mates and no regard for the club. Was guaranteed to be sent off today had he not been subbed.

Dan – should be asserting authority and bringing calmness to defence at his age and given his experience. How a man goes from turning in a man of the match performance against Holland to that circus act today I don`t know. On the plus side at our equaliser he actually manager to header a ball effectively and in his intended direction, a first for him, so well done for that.

Before we elect Stokes to sainthood we should remember his first half issues.

He missed a sitter that would have put us 1:0 up and given confidence but, more importantly, he was caught offside on numerous occasions by slow tracking back and not watching their back line.

Great free kick but the Killie keeper helped a bit with our second goal.

Anthony Stokes needs a good hard working partner. Gary Hooper used to be that guy.

  3. Paul67…

Lawwell explained that the club knew it could not compete financially with those from the five major European leagues, or some from Eastern Europe, but was committed to investing in scouting, technical and sports sciences to compensate, citing the recruitment of Izaguirre, Kayal, Ki and Hooper as examples of where he sees the club going.

Nice of Peter Lawwell to cite players those players evidence of where he sees the club going. Players who have delivered what exactly? A race for second/third place? Players who have failed ultimately. Clearly Peter Lawwell thinks this is good enough. I disagree.

It was a decent attempt at sleight of hand by Lawwell, but it’s clear that his comments were, at best, stupid. Did he really think no one would notice?

As for not being able to compete with the top five leagues? Garbage. Utter garbage. And more to the point, it’s a lie. A blatant lie.

Enough is enough. Underspending on the most important position in the football operation is bad enough. Buying inferior players (and failing the value for money test also) is equally bad. But insulting the support with the above? The end of Lawwell and Desmond can’t some soon enough. The end of Neil Lennon’s managership will hopefully follow close behind, and Neil will avoid being a sacrificial lamb to save Peter Lawwell’s neck. Neil demonstrably is lacking as a manager, and needs removed, but until we replace Lawwell we will continue to fail in the recruitment of a vital position.

Celtic chief paints gloomy future for Scottish football, if major change in the European game in general does not occur.

Says the man who has responsibility for a precipitous drop in fan numbers, turnover and success at Celtic Park. The extinction of Celtic may occur unless Lawwell moves along. Peter, like the worst of the SPL chairmen/owners/whatever, clearly feels that UEFA owe Celtic a living, just as Yorkston et al feel Celtic owe them a living. Lazy thinking from the fat man in the sharp suit.

  4. McNair is the greatest on

Playing for Celtic is an honour – ask Roy Keane or Henrik. The finishing eleven (minus Big Dan?) should be our starting team for the next few weeks – Kayal,Commons and Hooper imposters of the highest degree – the got lucky for 6 month men. Time to get consistency in our line -ups and make sure no more imposters put on our beloved hoops.

  5. Nice of Peter Lawwell to cite players those players evidence of where he sees the club going. Players who have delivered what exactly? A race for second/third place? Players who have failed ultimately. Clearly Peter Lawwell thinks this is good enough. I disagree.

Went down for a smoke at half time and couldn’t believe the numbers who were leaving. I was immensely proud of the Celtic support in the second half.

Going by your posts, you are not a unitelligent man, far from it, but you have a problem with your eyesight.

What do you percieve goes on in business ?

Celtic are a business, and PL runs Celtic, end of.

And if you think Lenny or anyone else for that matter will walk cos PL decides who gets bought, I may well have over estimated your grasp on reality.

And if for a second, you think I am going to tell a blog who gave me said information, which was 100% about the signing btw, suffice to say, he works at Celtic park and he has given me three bits of info, the bit about Bangura signing, the other two, not for a blog.

Though he did give me a wee bit of gossip about the hun, and their desperate attempt to getting GCC to allow their apprentices practicing their skills over at the bigotdome, and talks are ongoing as we speak.

Not long back in the house from the killie. Not read back and don’t plan to. Had the pleasure of supporting our team with HamiltonTim for the whole 2nd half. That was a big last 20 mins for the team. There is many questions, yes, but BELIEVE – we will kick on and win this league.

The biggest thing I noticed today was how the support can drive a team on to do something, to get something from nothing, to make a difference. This team is young and needs us-remember that the next time you feel the need to boo or shout abuse at CP.

  10. Just got to half time in rewatching the game

    Horrified again watching Kayal today.

Reminds me of the horribleness exhibited by Dicanio at Raith many moons ago.

HE TRIED TO GET HIMSELF SENT OFF! There is no 2 ways about it.

Did he play for is real midweek btw?

  11. Okay let’s get to the point

I do not believe Neil, or his coaching staff, are up to the challenges we currently face.

This is Neil’s team and unfortunately our worst under performers are Neil’s signings. can anyone seriously imagine a MON team accommodating the attitude of Hooper and Kayal seen today.

If Bangura was not a Neil signing then he should have resigned on the spot, the absence of such an action suggests he was supportive of us spending the majority of our budget on a striker who cannot controls a football in less than 3 touches.

At 3 – Nil down Neil had given up, he had no positive contribution to give. a blind man could see the changes that needed to be made from 20 minutes in, yet Hooper and Kayal were allowed to follow their personal agenda’s at the expense of the team. The Lunatics are runnIng the asylum and our bench offers no leadership

Dismiss the management team on Monday, put Kayal, Hooper and Commons on the transfer list on Monday. Ask big Dan to give the youth team the benefit of his experience and play Rogne for the next 20 matches. Play a minimum of our best 2 home prospects from the ranks for every match this season.

We are at a crossroads, how we react will shape the next 3- 5 years

  12. viewfaethewindae on

Give me lesser talent with the heart to run through a brick wall for the Celts, sprinkle two or three talents and you’ve a chance of winning. Heart, heart and more heart. Foreign imposters using the hoops as a ticket to the premiership, the them to ……..

  13. McNair is the greatest at 20:20

Playing for Celtic is an honour – ask Roy Keane or Henrik.

So much of an honour that he left it until he was released by Man U before coming and playing for 6 months. Not good enough to be put in the same sentence as the King of Kings.

    Mort

  14. By the way, even with a soft loan from Dermot “posted missin at the golf” Desmond, we are in a bad situation due to the league we are stuck in.

Simple as that. The most we could afford debtwise is £20M over 5 years. £4M a year on players…..still not enough to guarantee CL money.

Unless things change in our circumstances drastically (ie league we play in), we’ll need to get used to the staus quo. The SPL could have easily been a respectable force in Europe if not for Operation Hun Rescue in the past 10 yrs, and Operation Hun 9iar in the prev 10 yrs, ruining the game in every way possible. Got to hand it to the huns, even if they knew they would go down, they must have known they’d drag us down with them.

The answer – no one has it. Except get the hell out of Dodge. What i took from yesterday’s AGM was more depressing as they seemed to dismiss even a European league as a no-goer, never mind us joining the EPL. It’s a depressing outlook. Anyone that has possible answers, please share. It’s getting desperate.

I could reveal the person I know but I would betray their trust and cause them a hole lot of grief they don’t deserve, besides I think bhoy’s like you (not a criticism) will only ever believe it if they see it themselves or comes directly from the managers mouth, which aint goney happen.

Celtic never had £30m to buy him in his prime. My analogy was actually pointing out out that if two of best players in world football in the last 20 years felt it was an honour who the hell do Kayal, Commons and Hooper think they are!!!!!

  18. View from the sundae

Agree wholeheartedly, we have lost the soul of the club. As a kid watching Celtic we always contained at least 2 prospects from the reserves. we now load a bench with over paid dross who have no more ability and less potential than the kids who should be our future

I agree – the whole ‘Scottish football is going nowhere diatribe’ was justa time filler to avoid the real questions

I accept our league is crap and not attractive to TV companies and consequently difficult to compete with other teams from better funded more attractive leagues..

I’ll start to worry about that issue after we start competing WITHIN the league we’re in…

    Lawwell is a B-Bag!

  20. There was one incident during today’s game that summed up Celtic and how they are playing right now as a team.

It wasn’t any of the goals scored or any of the goals lost.

It wasn’t any of Forsters saves or Stokes’s unbelievable missed sitter.

It was the moment Stokes found himself back to goal on the 18 yard line with 2 Kilmarnock players harrying him. Looking to make a simple layoff pass to a forward or midfielder bursting towards the box, he looked up and there was nobody, NOBODY busting a gut to get there. In fact I don’t even think there was another Celtic player in the Killie half.

For a team who we keep hearing are desperate to put bad results behind them and get to winning ways again that one moment and passage of play summed them up for me.

A think we’ll agree to differ. Neil has been more than happy to split up Hooper and Stokes, to the detriment of Stokes but does not use Bangura.

We needed a striker, Neil new that, why would he spend north of £2mil then not do everything to get his star buy into the team asap?

Belive me i am not naive in wordy matters.

However, what you and a string of other posters, is alleging would bring the club to its knees if it were true.I have asked all of those posters for evidence to support the claims.

With respect, none have offered anything worthy of consideration.

Based on no evidence being offered to the contrary, you cannot accept these stories as anything other than rumor mongering.

  26. Does anyone think that the fightback today will finally kickstart our season, especially as the Huns didn’t increase their lead? Or is it just papering the cracks?

No matter what, we CANNOT drop anymore points before December 28th, then we’ll have to win that derby game. Who knows, the lead at the top could be cut to four points by then or even less if they drop more points

If we;d managed the 4th, it would have turned us around imo…but 3 goals, massive comeback as it was….leaves us where we started :( There was still a lack of real fight after the 3rd – every successful Celtic team must have the never say die attitude.
