    There is an entire industry devoted to disecting our every failure, and the majority of us, rightly, feel nothing but contempt for them

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Sorry,James. You will recognise your own words.
    It is up to you to defend your take on today’s events,but you were far from supportive.
    And far from constructive in your criticism.
    Too much hyperbole,not enough thought,and a lot of shouting. Par for the course for you on occasions.
    Sit down,shut up and think how we can get out of this,going off on one is understandable,but we need rational thought.
  3. I was at Kilmarnock today.
    As we began our belated comeback today in the 70th minute, I was only a little conflicted. I was, of course, glad we had found a way back into the game and was hoping for a plucky and flukey win but everyone I spoke with used the same cliche: this would be papering over the cracks.
    Some posters advised me that the international break after the Tynecastle game was a good thing because it would allow us to work on our deficiencies. I had always subscribed to the view that it’s best to get back on the bike immediately after you fall off, but I accepted their words of wisdom.
    Well, there was precious little indication that we had worked on our weak points.
    :-
    1) Aerial balls are still being allowed to drop and few are choosing to attack and head the ball even where there is cover, eg Cha & Dan
    2) Losing possession at throw ins. We reached a nadir today where an opposition manager was using this obvious weakness as a tactic. Killie started each half and a couple of the re-start kicks, following our goals, by launching the ball to “touch” near our penalty box. They were confident of collecting possession from our throw-ins and they were, invariably, proved correct in that assumption. At one point James Forrest berated every Celt in his vicinity as he was the only one showing to receive the throw-in. Senior players were hiding from the responsibility.
    I was appalled that Neil persisted with Hooper who was crocked after 5 minutes. Gary was left on the pitch to pull out of block challenges and lose out on every tackle as he continued to protect an injured ankle. His touch was off as he was conscious of avoiding contact. he should not be exposed like that. What an insult to Bangura to suggest that an unfit Gary Hooper was preferable to him. Mo Bangura, when he came on, ran and harried and won some aerial ball, but looked as if he was wearing the wrong studs and sometimes, as if football was not his major sport. But he out-performed an injured GH.
    We were very fortunate today not to lose further ground. Those supporters who watched our performance saw again how soft and brittle we have become. A very promising team from last year has quickly crumbled this season and injuries and suspension are only part of the story.
    We need training ground solutions to these problems.
    We need a defensive midfielder (Wanyama, please) to protect our defence in every match
    We need to be prepared to sell promising footballers like Kayal, Juarez, Hooper and Ki if they are not prepared to graft with controlled aggression.
    We need Lenny to make peace with Kriss Commons- our need is more important than their egos
    I do not care how Rangers got on today. We were poor and we need to fix us.
    SFTB is not panicking but is very worried
    “Celtic manager Neil Lennon said: “We believe Mohamed is a player of real quality and someone who has the potential to make a big contribution to Celtic.
    “He comes highly recommended by people in the Swedish game. We have had him watched for a year or so, and all the reports have been very positive, and I know Mohamed is excited about joining the club.
    “He’s a young player and someone with great enthusiasm for Celtic and for the challenge ahead, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming him to the squad.”
    Could that “we” be Neil, Johan and Alan in conjunction with the coaching staff ?
    Could it be the scouting staff? Who does their head report to Lawell or Neil
  5. Stairheedrammy on
    I just got back in and watched the game after thinking my mate was taking the mick telling me we were 3 down at half time- what seemed wrong to me was the tactics in the first half- the midfield were outnumbered and outmanouvered meaning we could have lost another couple of goals- you could blame the defence or midfield- but to me it was our formation that was causing us the problems. We improved in the second half- though how much of this change was down to Kayal wanting oiut of there I dont know. Bringing on a left back, moving Matthews to his natural right position and having a forward drop into midfield to balance out the numbers there seemed to make the difference. The rankers score gave us a little hope- but improvement and stability is needed if we are to make use of it
    C’mon the hoops
  6. It is amazing the way supporting Celtic Football Club intrudes? in our lives.
    What would we do without the club, winners or losers?
    What would we do if Celtic Football Club ceased to exist?
    What an interesting day and evening
    The most likely outcome at 5pm tonight was that we’d still be 10 pts behind them. We are. How we are is interesting….and should, at the end of the day give us real hope?
    What have we learnt though………
    1. that starting 11 will never ….never do.
    2. The parts were wrong…and there was no team cohesion. 0-3 was flattering to Kilmarnock; we were all fearing the worst……NL included I’m sure. But he changed the parts…
    3. He sorted the attitude by changing the parts…..and we rose to the challenge, backed by the most incredible support.
    4. The team performed as a unit in the last 20 mins……..still VERY unsure and nervous about GK and Dan though. CM will be better supported by a competent centre back…..no idea who. James F, Ki, Joe, Stokes all delivered. Bangura must go back to Sweden.
    5. Izzy to come back; Commons to be restored; Wanyama to start……..Kayal and Brown are surplus. McFadden might just do us a turn,,,,
    6. We must learn the harsh lessons of the 1st half…and the implement the lessons learnt in the
    Hooper got injured early in the game, was desperate to stay on, Neil dealt with Kayal at half-time and Ki helped us get back in the match. Now, unlike some I do not have an ear to the ground at Lennoxtown, or an ear to the wall for that matter, so I tend to dismiss the tattle re this player or that player, even if some of it might be true. Might be.
    Where we will both agree is the fact that we as a support can make a difference to the team, but it can work both ways, today that away support helped the team come back. It is not happy clapping, it is about getting behind the bhoys!
  9. Barcabhoy
    I don’t know I assume they to the manager who then reports to the board, but I go back to the original question.
    Is there a shred of evidence to support the claims made that players are being signed without the Mangers say so.
  10. Good evening Celtic friends.
    The first half was totally unacceptable.
    The full time result was just about passable.
    Overall not good enough.
    Where do we go from here ?
  11. Wow. What a day.
    Watched in despair as Celtic proved all of the naysayers and doubters right. Sat for 70 minutes and composed in my head a ‘thanks for the memories Neil’ post for CQN. Ruderless, leaderless, clueless and gutless players.
    I saw a free kick awarded and did something I never do during a Celtic game – I went out of the room to go to the lavvie. I got back and saw it was 3-1.
    I watched Stokesy, of all people, grab the game by the scruff of the neck and haul us back in to it. 3-2. Equaliser on it’s way. There it is. Loads of time left. We must win.
    In a sense I thought a draw was best. a win may have allowed for the utter inadequacies of that performance to be over looked, not by us, but by the management team.
    Lennie got it wrong today. We looked OK for a while early on. Killie rarely threatened until they scored. But when Hooper got injured and started losing the ball every time it came to him I was screaming for him to be hooked. A team short on confidence cannot ship a two goal lead and carry an injured player. Let alone a 3 goal lead!
    We looked as bad at the start of the second half with Bangura looking like a poor player to say the least – in fact I would say he is a poor mans Henri Camara. Enough said. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t see it in Bangura. Wanyama, a player in the making. A bit raw, but it’s there. Bang Bang? Nope. Hope he proves me wrong though.
    And then I left the house to do something useful and enjoyable in the company of my children and forgot all about the football. I turned the radio on in the car on the way home to hear that the Orcs had surrendered a late late equaliser and my strange day was complete.
    Neil and the team have been given a get out of jail free card. Their confidence must have benefitted. But this will only work to our advantage if Neil Lennon learns from his mistakes.
    Had we lost that game I would not have been sad to see him go. That hurts me a wee bit. But Celtic is bigger than the man. I had already installed MON as caretaker boss until next season in my head.
    I hope Neil finds the formula that gave us a great few months early on in the year.
    The first lesson he needs to learn is how to make us hard to beat. Our better players will then win the vast majority of games from that platform.
    Perhaps this is the lift we needed. Perhaps it has come gift wrapped with a warning note attached. You won’t get too many more days like this. Make the most of it.
    I need a beer and an early night……………………………………..
  12. Shocking today – Neil is not the man for the job. If we want any chance of winning the league we need to change the manager now.
    The facts are there – just not good enough. So do we do what we always do and hope for a hun implosion and end up conceding the league or do something about it.
    Neil Thomo and Johan – loved you guys as players, and to be fair you were all well rewarded for it, but you are all totally out of your depth here – no shame in that. This season, this team is a disaster. Anyone in the SPL can get a result against us home or away. Pathetic.
  13. The plum phoning 5 live saying the league’s gone just corrected himself: “hings going wro, hings going wrang
    Oh, and he’s sittin there in his Celtic strip, he tells us.
    Important to get yer Sellic pronunciation right, isn’t it?
  14. Paddy Gallagher on
    If there are players working their ticket to leave Celtic, then grasp the nettle. Drop them and let the world know they are available. Work only with the players that are totally committed, regardless of ability or age. Back to basics in every department of our club and give the support a team of focused – mentally strong men. Getting a wee bit fed up of our club being a half way house for egotists looking for the big time. Wouldn’t be so bad if they done the business for us and then got their move with us cashing in.
    We are not an employment agency where it’s okay to put yourself in the shop window, we are the ‘Celtic family’ where your total commitment to our cause is a basic requisite.
    The voice of reason.Well said mate.
  19. Meant to give Joe Ledley a mention. By far our best player and he seemed to be the man driving us on when things were at their darkest. His compatriot Matthews is a very good young player and deserves better than the dross he had to play with today.
    But why is Kayal so keen to reduce his transfer fee? Their first two goals were the result of lazy midfielders not getting back to defend or track runners. It was a feature of our play for over an hour. It stunned me.
  20. A lot of new names on the blog today. Can’t say I’m overly surprised as new posters tend to emerge after a poor result only to depart as quickly as they arrived.
  21. With regards to Bangura, I know Neil had never seen him play as I posted earlier. I can understand some people finding it difficult to believe as it goes against the argument that the board are there to support the manager, 100% this was a Peter Lawell and John Park signing.
    Part of my post from Sept. 2010:
    I have raised the question several times re: current purchases – are we looking to buy within the 19-23 year age group as a means of increasing income stream (to supplement European shortfall)? Regenerating a player pool (circa 2 years) is arguable – the vagaries suggest a different strategy.
    Players are not landing here by chance!
    Look. We agree on a lot. When I’m at CelticPark – like you I will support all, inparticular those who are mistreated by the fans. Always. Always. Always.
    But I cannot abide players who make so little of my team. I put those three into that category. The demean me and my team and all supporters. They are skilled footballers who have been praised to the heavens. IMHO their heads have been turned. They do not want to be here – and their efforts – or lack there of would seem to me to prove it. My posts today are not knee jerk reactions. I have posted continually about their demeanour all season.
    As for Neil getting criticism on these boards? In my opinion some of the criticism is justified. I know he’s been compromised with injuries but he should be getting better results with the players he’s got. We’re showing little signs of progress. The fact he’s from Lurgan does not blind me to some glaring deficiencies in his management
