Kris, Nielson on opinions, careless cautions

731

Player who has been out since April in shock Uefa squad omission. The only surprise about Kris Commons and Uefa lists is that he was included for the earlier rounds, despite not pulling on a Celtic shirt since April through injury. He was there because there was space on the A list. He’s now been omitted because we signed Scott Sinclair and Brendan Rodgers needed to remove one name to keep his options open for a wildcard.

Kris’ chances of being fit enough to play are less than Patrick Roberts’ so his name came off the list.

I don’t habitually dig up managers at other clubs, but Robbie Nielson is testing the limits of incredulity. When asked about Scott Brown calling Jamie Walker a cheat, he said “If you have got an opinion on anything you are better just keeping it to yourself.”

This is the guy who can’t shut his mouth about referees, including an incident last season when he thought action should have been taken against……. Scott Brown.

Robbie, if you can dish it out but you can’t take it, maybe you are better just keeping your stray opinions to yourself.

We collected four yellow cards at Tynecastle: Gordon, Brown, Dembele and Sinclair. None of them incurred incurred when the ball was in play. Craig Gordon’s was for not going to his line at the Hearts penalty, Moussa Dembele’s was for knocking the ball away, Scott Sinclair’s was for running into the crowd after scoring a debut goal (he’s knew, he should learn, but it’s a clear yellow card) and Scott Brown’s for dissent.

If we’re going to tot up cautions, we should at least do it during play when there is some advantage to be won. Four conceded carelessly off the ball is unusual and could cost us later in the season.

Scott Brown in particular should take note, that was his second caution of the season for dissent, the first coming in Astana. Scott’s a hugely important player to Celtic, previous absences from Europe due to off-the-ball indiscretions should be acting as an inhibitor at this stage of his career.

The only aspect of the hun I have concerns about is David Weir.

He has been a doughty warrior against us in the past because , I feel , his heart is in it.

I sincerely hope your ” fans ” prediction comes true.

On the other hand , no greater humiliation could come their way than a regular skelping from Brendan`s boys.

I get the distinction that he is well up for it.

Was Tim Wilson not the Australian Human Rights Commissioner from 2014-2016 and now he’s a Liberal MP? Surely a man of high integrity and his appointment to the AHRC was not politically motivated?

  8. I’m recently back from Bali and noticed a big difference between how the Aussies spoke to the locals and the way way in which I would speak to people allowing me access to their country. I mentioned it to a mate who had lived in Aussie land before and he understood what I was going on about and finished with “but that’s what the Austrialian’s are like”

which brings me to a famous case in a Larkhall school where an employee charge his boss with racisim. The boss got away with it because, apparently, he was like that with everyone!

A good well reasoned assessment .

    One caveat.

I wouldn`t be giving much credence to :

    Race Discrimination Commissioner

    Australian Human Rights Commission

By her very job description , it`s her job to find racism .

    So she does.

    ———————————

I do t think she carried out the study personally. :-))

If we are looking for evidence of racism and looking to measure how much racism there is then scientific study seems to be the best way to do that. At least, it provides an evidence based approach rather than a single perception.

On that basis there is clear evidence. Not surprising as in my experience racism exists everywhere. Making comparisons with other countries can be done but surely needs to be on the same basis.

  16. Haven’t posted for a few days but a lot of positives since then. We’ve signed Sinclair who’s already shown what he can do, we’ve beat the wee huns even though they tried to cheat us, James Forrest is starting to look like the old James Forrest, Tam Rogic has unexpectedly signed a new deal and young Nesbitt is out to get some experience again.

I’m looking forward to Joe Hansen finding himself again and signing a new deal!

Only negative is that Sunderland are looking to nip in for McNair. Chelsea and Everton are after one of their CB’s so they will probably be looking for cover in that area. We’ll see.

As I said last spring, the refugee problem via Mediterranean is a humanitarian calamity. And it has to be stopped.

But if I was living in the various parts of the world where most of the “boat people” are fleeing,I would be doing the same.

Yes,many are doing so to improve their lives. But most are actually doing so to save their lives, and those of their families. We can’t have an open-door approach to immigration,I accept that. But we can hardly term ourselves a civilisation when we callously refuse to help the destitute, helpless and hopeless amongst us.

  25. If fit Toure should play, he needs games and Lustig could be doing with a break. KT to sit it out and Armstrong and McGregor to drop to the bench. I would give Henderson a game but suspect he is off to Hibs.

Mate , I`m optimistic. By nature.

Big Jock had to contend with the same corruption. He made it possible.

Now I don`t think that Brendan could pull off the same feat , but I am supremely confident that he has the capability of giving us a ( whisper it ) generation of domination .

  28. KLV, I think it will be an interesting game tonight. the team should be somewhat changed with Griffiths out (Johannsen and Ambrose are also suspended). The question is whether or not BR goes with a 3 up front with Forrest and Sinclair either side of Dembele and a midfield trio of Brown and 2 others: Rogic and McGregor.

Another possibility is a 3-4-3 with Lustig, Toure (if fit) and O’Connell behind Brown, Rogic, Armstrong and McGregor with the same 3 up front. Or does Ciftci come in from the cold with Izzy and we go 4-4-2?

What is so pleasing this season is that neither the personnel or formation is that predictable; under RD we all knew it was 4-2-3-1 and precisely who would play!

    Paddy Bamford………………………….

    Discuss.

A better option as back up/competition for striker position than Ciftci.

  30. I guess it’s kind of nice that we can discuss all the line up combinations and varying formations now that Brendan has shown us he is very adaptable. As much as I was a fan of Ronnie, we could easily pick his starting 11 with a high degree of accuracy the day before a match…the opposition must have been able to do likewise.

Having multiple formations up our sleeve is a great asset as the opposition will only be able to put in a limited amount of preparation on how they will match up to us.

    Quite nice.

  31. VFR800A8

Yeah its a guessing game right up until tonight, Motherwell have looked poor so hopefully a good convincing performance and give some players a run out, Christie and Rogic in MD would be nice. Dembelle and Ciftci up top.

    We’ll see.

  32. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

    Not a team prediction,perish the thought. But…

Brendan Rodgers may well be inclined to an experimental eleven in tonight’s competition.

  33. Paddy Bamford

Brilliant at Middlesbrough but not made a mark else. Would be good backup but not convinced he would set the heather alight.

However, it could just take the right manager to get him back to form…

  34. If we go 2 up top I reckon he will go 3-5-2. He will want (IMHO) to give game time to Sinclair (to bed him in), Forrest (to keep up his momentum) & Rogic (because he has just re-signed). Brown will start as well but will need another worker in there beside him. That leaves 3 for the back – Toure (if fit) with Lustig and O’Connell.

So what are the chances that NONE of us actually call the whole team right?
