Kris, Nielson on opinions, careless cautions

731

Player who has been out since April in shock Uefa squad omission. The only surprise about Kris Commons and Uefa lists is that he was included for the earlier rounds, despite not pulling on a Celtic shirt since April through injury. He was there because there was space on the A list. He’s now been omitted because we signed Scott Sinclair and Brendan Rodgers needed to remove one name to keep his options open for a wildcard.

Kris’ chances of being fit enough to play are less than Patrick Roberts’ so his name came off the list.

I don’t habitually dig up managers at other clubs, but Robbie Nielson is testing the limits of incredulity. When asked about Scott Brown calling Jamie Walker a cheat, he said “If you have got an opinion on anything you are better just keeping it to yourself.”

This is the guy who can’t shut his mouth about referees, including an incident last season when he thought action should have been taken against……. Scott Brown.

Robbie, if you can dish it out but you can’t take it, maybe you are better just keeping your stray opinions to yourself.

We collected four yellow cards at Tynecastle: Gordon, Brown, Dembele and Sinclair. None of them incurred incurred when the ball was in play. Craig Gordon’s was for not going to his line at the Hearts penalty, Moussa Dembele’s was for knocking the ball away, Scott Sinclair’s was for running into the crowd after scoring a debut goal (he’s knew, he should learn, but it’s a clear yellow card) and Scott Brown’s for dissent.

If we’re going to tot up cautions, we should at least do it during play when there is some advantage to be won. Four conceded carelessly off the ball is unusual and could cost us later in the season.

Scott Brown in particular should take note, that was his second caution of the season for dissent, the first coming in Astana. Scott’s a hugely important player to Celtic, previous absences from Europe due to off-the-ball indiscretions should be acting as an inhibitor at this stage of his career.

  1. Robbie Nielson must be the thickest manager in Scottish Football. First he claims that because the referee awarded a dodgy penalty to his team in the first half, he should have been consistent by awarding a second half penalty.

Now he says John Guidetti got a dodgy penalty for Celtic at Tynecastle a couple of years back. “It was later proved that he slipped,” said Neilson. “But he never got suspended.”

    Suspended for slipping? Whatever next?

  2. Great news that Tom Rogic has signed on, BR getting the job done quietly and efficiently.

The shocking legacy of the staggering stupidity of the Rudd / Gillard /Rudd Labour govt. of the day whose ” relaxing ” of John Howards controls on border security led to 50,000 undocumented persons paying people smugglers to put them on leaky boats .

Result. At least 1200 Deaths by drowning.

Since Tony Abbott came to power and stopped the boats .

    No drowning deaths.

    No undocumented arrivals.

Eventually , the penny will drop for the stupid Europeans who will be forced to adopt similar measures.

1,400 drownings in Med. in the last 12 months ?

In the meantime , lunacy rules.

BTW. The Guardian has an axe to grind.

    But then you know that.

    You say :

“It would be a damn sight cheaper to let them into the country. It might also do some good to their faltering international reputation.’

And would have the people smugglers jumping up and down in glee at the restart in their trade in human misery.

    =======================================================================

    Faltering international reputation ?

Why in that case , are they queuing up to come here ?

Because they know better than the Guardian and vote with their feet.

Why do you spend so much of your time conversing with ‘stupid Europeans’ on a football forum?

Have you nothing better to do with your time in Australia?

Like I said,Australia has the right to refuse entry. Those camps are crimes against humanity, and do great harm to the detainees and to your country’s reputation.

I understand the point you make about people-trafficking. The distances involved to travel by sea to Australia, and those to travel to Europe,do not compare. The situations are wholly different.

  11. I think Robbie is putting his head up against us to play to this countries mood. He knows exactly what he is doing, I thought he was a decent young manager. But i will ask you this, Would he being making such a big issue about this against der hun? I have my doubts, I think we are seeing Hearts as a club picking their side. Budge being vocal on certain issues and not others and now this, Hearts were brutal on Sunday and I will be surprised if they play against every team like that. we shall see.

The article is reported in The Guardian. It contains reports from the camps, made mainly by welfare officers and independent witnesses.

It was not commissioned by The Guardian, you seem to think the report is meaningless because of who delivered it.

I’ll leave you to defend the indefensible. I’m saddened that you believe it is possible to do so.

  14. Anyone remember a Celtic v Hearts game at Celtic Park when Gordon Strachan was manager and Robbie Neilson played right back for the Jambos?

Hearts made it 1-1 with about 10 minutes to play. Neilson was then imvolved in a scuffle with Scott McDonald and WGS had a go at the Hearts player. For the next 5 minutes or so, Neilson was in the vicinity of the Celtic bench and giving WGS verbals.

With about 2 minutes to go, McDonald scored a dramatic winner. For the next couple of minutes, WGS was moving his hand in a “yap-yap” motion at Neilson, giving him pelters. Neilson couldn’t get off the park quick enough at the final whistle. Unfortunately he had to pass Strachan on the way. Hilarious it was.

  17. Evidence of racism in Australia can be gleaned from the research that has been carried out in (for example) the

    Challenging Racism Project. See :

    https://www.humanrights.gov.au/news/speeches/racism-exists-australia-are-we-doing-enough-address-it

Is Aus more racist than other countries? I’d guess more than some but not as much as others. In my time there I perceived a big difference between Aus & the UK. In Aus the racism was more overt. The Aussie friends I stayed with in Perth and in Sydney stated on numerous occasions how embarrassed they were by some of the racist behaviour we encountered.

There’s racism everywhere. Bottom line is – some people are happy with it and see no need to change it while others see how wrong it is and want to challenge it. I’m in the 2nd category.

First step in addressing a problem is accepting it exists.

Not many teams will leave tynecastle with 3 pts this season,

I don’t believe many teams will lie down to der hun this season with exception of Killie, they are in for a real battle this season and i don’t think they will handle it.
