Kris, Nielson on opinions, careless cautions

731

Player who has been out since April in shock Uefa squad omission. The only surprise about Kris Commons and Uefa lists is that he was included for the earlier rounds, despite not pulling on a Celtic shirt since April through injury. He was there because there was space on the A list. He’s now been omitted because we signed Scott Sinclair and Brendan Rodgers needed to remove one name to keep his options open for a wildcard.

Kris’ chances of being fit enough to play are less than Patrick Roberts’ so his name came off the list.

I don’t habitually dig up managers at other clubs, but Robbie Nielson is testing the limits of incredulity. When asked about Scott Brown calling Jamie Walker a cheat, he said “If you have got an opinion on anything you are better just keeping it to yourself.”

This is the guy who can’t shut his mouth about referees, including an incident last season when he thought action should have been taken against……. Scott Brown.

Robbie, if you can dish it out but you can’t take it, maybe you are better just keeping your stray opinions to yourself.

We collected four yellow cards at Tynecastle: Gordon, Brown, Dembele and Sinclair. None of them incurred incurred when the ball was in play. Craig Gordon’s was for not going to his line at the Hearts penalty, Moussa Dembele’s was for knocking the ball away, Scott Sinclair’s was for running into the crowd after scoring a debut goal (he’s knew, he should learn, but it’s a clear yellow card) and Scott Brown’s for dissent.

If we’re going to tot up cautions, we should at least do it during play when there is some advantage to be won. Four conceded carelessly off the ball is unusual and could cost us later in the season.

Scott Brown in particular should take note, that was his second caution of the season for dissent, the first coming in Astana. Scott’s a hugely important player to Celtic, previous absences from Europe due to off-the-ball indiscretions should be acting as an inhibitor at this stage of his career.

  1. Would be surprised if we could afford Borini’s wages

BUT he would be a good signing. He works for the team and would be a valuable asset in Europe.

I still think he needs a Wayama type of MD player as enforcer kind of player, Allan and Christie and the like are all fine and well when we have the ball but he need someone to win the ball apart from our Cap.

Wild card by 11 tonight? Is that right?

    * 43.08  For the three qualifying rounds and the play-offs, a club may register a maximum of one new eligible player on List A after the above-mentioned deadlines, provided the quota of locally trained players is respected. Such registration must be completed by 24.00CET on the day before the relevant first-leg match

  4. We need another striker and I think it makes sense for all involved. But Money talks and all that. Lets see what happens.

Its on CQN so there maybe some weight to it. Brendan has a pattern with his old players, New boss at Sunderland these things happen. if he’s good and works. why not.

DD will sort out his wages if Brendan wants him. ;)

  5. Borini is an excellent penalty taker by the way. Not that we need to worry about getting any of them in SPL. Kidding of course.

We did miss a few last season!

If Brendan signs Borini again,I’ll be very surprised and not a little disappointed.

He has done damn all with his career to date, yet many a club has taken the chance on him.

He must have a good video editor. BR has seen him for real.

    Thanks Bhoys,

I think we need a bit more up top, still not enough goals in the team, We need more from Midfield as well. Rogic new deal, Brown playing smarter and all that’s missing is getting Johnasen back to form and the goals from Midfield should flow.

I was surprised we could afford Sinclair’s wage. Is there substance to rumours that DD is pushing the boat out?

    _____

Well the board are probably confident that we will reach the CL now so they are probably going to loosen the purse strings. I think this is a definitive season to put Sevco in their place as well.

I don’t doubt that Celtic would be interested, It really depends on how much Moyes wants him.

Maybe Borini has been told he has no future at Sunderland? Maybe they will be willing to pay a chunk of his wages?

    Time will tell.

Bamford apparently comes from a fairly well-off family. He has already made a fair few bob himself. Golden boy.

Trebles all round, etc. But he seems unable to take that next step-the big one.

In that respect, someone should give him an audience with Vialli.

Minted. Told he would never make it as a footballer.

He needs the mental toughness Vialli had to overcome already being in a comfort zone.

    IMO,of course.

He did perform well at Swansea.

He is a trier and always runs himself into the ground for the team. He’s struggled to find his scoring touch in the EPL but has adapted his game to make big contributions other ways.

He could be a good partner for Leigh and away from home in Europe he’d be an out ball.

As you say, I wouldn’t be disappointed

  13. Do we still have a credible U20 team today after all the people we have loaned out?

Looking like 4 or 5 have been loaned out — are some overage for the U20’s?

I am hoping that we have a stable and mature U20 team full of guys who can step up.

Not a rump of a team filled with underage guys making up the numbers.

Do we have a junior CL competition to aim for in the autumn?

    Finally gone but not forgotten.

Perceived to have a great future ahead of him when he played for Bologna Primavera . . . Now rated as one who didn’t meet that expectation.

  22. Matchday in Paradise. Brilliant.

I love my view from my seat in the main stand, ES2. Wouldn’t want to swap it. The catering and toilet facilities are poor but I go watch Celtic not for a pie or a piss. Even at my age I can last a couple of hours without requiring either.

Ann Budge. The thing I admire about her is the same that I despise about her.

She and the Hearts support fought hard and emptied their pockets to save their club and recover it from administration. It was a monumental effort for which they rightly deserve great credit.

That neither she, nor the support, publicly, vociferously differentiate the massive difference of their saving of their club with that of the performance of the deid club’s owners and support in allowing their own club to be liquidated/ die has a massive effect.

Budge and the Hearts support saved their club. Rangers’ owners and support allowed their club to die.

Were I a Hearts supporter it would be my mission to publicise this FACT as often and as strongly as possible.

I do not see Budge or the Hearts support do this, ergo I expect little support from them and have little respect for them.

    Tom Rogic, good.

I trust Brendan to pick the right team to prevail tonight.

I’d keep Ryan Christie, I think that’s where the goals from midfield could come from. If we’re going to be changing the team around, he would be swapped for Callum McGregor for me. I think the bhoy is going to be a star…

Liam Henderson plays a different role and I would keep him as well, play him in with Scott Brown as he has some dig on him. Wouldn’t be surprised if Brendan plays them both at the weekend and hopefully he likes what he sees…
