Look at me, but not at my face

2751

I don’t get the flares thing. It’s not a part of my going-to-see-Celtic tradition. But if it was my thing, I’d have the courage of my convictions, I wouldn’t hide the fact.

There are consequences of bringing flares to football games, always has been. By not having the courage to openly ignite them, those consequences are not personalised to the individuals who regard this as an integral part of what they do at a football game, they are visited upon everyone in the vicinity, as well as the club.

The problem with flares at Celtic games is those who bring them hide the fact – as they clearly know there are consequences, and presumably aren’t too interested in taking responsibility for them. ‘Keen on flares, not keen enough to stand up for them’, is why the issue persists.

I get the attraction to bright, shiny, things, but this isn’t a campaign to bring the vote to disenfranchised people against a force who will execute the offender on sight. It’s about bringing a flare to a football game. If it’s so important, do it openly. If you think Health and Safety are simply wrong, find the evidence and use it in court. Have the courage to change something.  I know lots of Celtic fans who have had the courage to put their name to something they believed in, in recent years.  It’s seldom easy, but it has been done.

But in the years of this debate no one has ever pointed to evidence that igniting flares in a football ground is a clever thing to do. It’s just a ‘look at me’ exercise, ‘But don’t look at my face’, of course.

Noticed the same thing.Funny how even a treble,an undefeated treble, doesn’t stir them into action but a chance to have a go and they’re right in there.Hmm…

I fail see the relevance of the information you introduce, please enlighten me. Is the red triangle a recognisable signature on its own or not ?

Even if legal advice were to support a decision that nothing should be done about the SC Decision, that should not stop the LNS Decision from being set aside.

Celtic should simply ask for the letter Harper Macleod sent to Duff and Phelps in March 2012 to be circulated to the Board.

They should then present the HMRC letters of Feb and May that Duff and Phelps should have provided under the terms of the Harper letter and point out that not only were Duff and Phelps representing RIA guilty of non compliance, but that the consequences of it allowed a Decision to be reached that would have been impossible had the requested documents been provided.

The LNS Commission wasnt a trial but had it been then a mistrial took place.

Nuances like that might get lost on club Directors not wishing to rock their respective boats but if they do not recognise the principle at play they are saying they are content that the SPL were misled/lied to but are not inclined to act to correct a fatally flawed decision.

The GB are like Dr Who, Time Travellers.

Its rumoured, that by next week the PLC will have have contacted aliens from the Planet Janet, for instruction in shape-shifting and hiding behind inanimate objects, like scarfs and banners:)

That’s just more whatabouterie, doesent take away the FACT about the political banners, it’s a no no, but they did it admittedly knowing it was a no no, and have justated a couple of hours ago, that they will do it again, cccmmmoooonnnn that’s not on, this mob think they are bigger than the club? Well I’m afraid they are not., that’s what in on about, I’m sorry but I’m not interested in whatabouterie or squirrels, I don’t know how many times i’v said today, I’m sticking the facts of the mess the Ultras have done, you and others want to have a go at the board, go ahead fill your boots, not me.

Any truth in the rumour that it was the Green Brigade who built, commisioned and sailed Jesus of Lubeck?

  7. Reading all the comments today and reflecting on it I feel the biggest crime if I can call it that was involving Brendan Rodgers through his image on the banner.

I have no doubt Brendan has asked not to be characterised in this way, I recall the day he was introduced to the support, on that day there was a chant from the crowd on numerous occasions ‘Brendan Rodgers F***** A***’ , just like Paddy McCourt.

In my view Brendan im sure nipped this in the bud and I think the GB somehow got the message and have not started this chant nor has any other supporter.

If I am correct and this was done at Brendan’s request directly or indirectly, then to have him on the banner shows a lack of respect to our manager.

We all know what they should do but do you have any faith that they will ?

And there’s your answer on who do you trust a shower of useful idiots or a shower of corrupt users

JMCCORMICK&PHILBHOY-yesterday between 6:06 &6:08-is it better than any ultra group?if you were at game on Wednesday you will have seen a lot more than just the GB singing,a fekn lot more,it was no minority

  11. TonyDonnelly67,

Cheers, yes I did see Celtics statement about SC Ruling, and thought it excellent t at this time.

Can anyone help me here ?

With Lawell being on SPFL board, IF he knew that they will vote against taking action about EBT etc, and he was in the minority of that panels view, then surely it would have been best to resign in protest, and call media conference, to explain that he had resigned due to the SPFL taki g NO action against the cheating, DESPITE the SC Ruling ?

And if he had remained, he would be forced to comply with their views ?

Does anyone have any idea if Lawell movie g to this SFA game board, puts him an Celtic in a much stronger position to have the titles stripped , if or WHEN the SFA decide to take no action against the huns? ?

OR, with Lawell Leavi g spfl now, really bad news for us who want the cheats punished ?

    I’m confused ?

The Irish National Anthem and Broad Black Brimmer were sung by the whole stadium. These two songs annoyed and offended the knuckle draggers in the away end, more than any banner did. 50000 were singing, but let’s pick on 80 members of a supporter group.

There are fewer rebel songs sung at the games now because of all the other Green Brigade songs introduced that have nothing to do with Ireland!

So did PL ever come out publicly and condemn the Huns after the toilet incident, ban them for a game or two?Or did he take the blue £ the very next time he could?Aw the rights and wrong mean hehaw when our plc couldn’t give a feck about us now that the season tickets are sold out,

    Big Jimmi,

PL was on the SFA professional game board then resigned, I expect it was interfering with all his other positions at Europe and the rest. Gawd knows it doesn’t interfere with his work at Celtic oh wait, thing seem to have got out of control at the club eh

  21. There seems to be a total lack of balance being applied to the GB in my opinion. On one hand there is black they are bad. On the other white they are good and black the board are bad. I am disappointed that the level of debate on here has become so polarise. In my experience, when someone paints issues in black and white it is because (a) they are so blinded to one side of a cause that they lose the ability to view all sides of an argument or (b) they lack the cognitive ability to view all sides of an argument. both assuming all facts are available. I will insult my fellow supporter by suggestioning it’s (b), so would hope for more consideration of each other’s views.

PS – kevjungle. I’ve noticed you use the £49 ticket thing a lot. season ticket holders did not pay this. However the new huns all had to because that was set as the price. I thought it a clever way to earn cash from the zombies but maybe you read the daily record and believed all celtic fans paid this. or are you having a dig at our away support who probably paid a similar amount. i only go to home games or cup games so couldn’t comment on that.
