Lose and Aberdeen season is over

593

Aberdeen will already be in town ahead of their game at Firhill tonight. Lose tonight and a season which promised so much as recently as Monday, will effectively be over.

Tomorrow’s game against Inverness will present a robust challenge for Celtic. Inverness are one of four clubs locked within a point of each other, a maximum of three of them will be in the top six after the split. Despite the fact that the Highlanders are competing in the right half of the table, with a Scottish Cup quarter final against Hamilton Accies to look forward to, they are only five points from the play-off spot.

Players will be battling for their livelihoods in every sense of the word.

Well done to Erik Sviatchenko’s old team, Midtjylland, on their Europa League win over Manchester United last night. And to the observer who noted that they have now beaten more top six teams in the England and Wales Premier League than Manchester United or Manchester City.

You wonder what last night’s results will do to the marketability of the Midtjylland players, and whether or not we would have been able to get Sviatchenko in the summer, had he stayed. Big results bring focus and scores of scouts. We nipped in at the right moment with Erik.

Good luck to Thistle tonight.

  1. if Aberdeen get beat tonight they will have 55 points with 11 games left. Potential 88 points. if they beat Celtic at Celtic Park.

Celtic currently have 58 points with 13 games left. If Aberdeen were to beat us in the Head to Head. We would need to win 10 and draw one and only lose one of the remaining games.

I think the league is far from over and so is Aberdeens season far from over.

saying a team 3 point behind Celtic, season is over is premature.

  2. Paul67,

You may well be right (and I hope you are) but, imo, there are still too many points to be won and lost. I never take anything like winning the league for granted. We will not have won the league til we have got more points in the bag than the others can get.

    You right about the date.

The strange thing is that….as far as i can see, the motivation for the Magdalene in Glasgow came from Evangelicals rather than RC.

In fact….you can guess what er tradition most of the unfortunate women came from.

If you are into digging , I imagine the relationship between the Magdalene and The Lock Hospital ( and the later Black Street Clinic ) might be interesting.Cynical me assumes that some of Glasgow’s ” great and the good ” would have profited by having a business relationship with the Magdalene..

Really like to see us giving guys like him and Nesbit a first team game at parkhead before sending them on loan .. Give them some encouragement to succeed.

Very hard to see Aberdeen losing tonight, unless young Nesbitt plays a stormer, which even then may not be enough.

I’d expect a 0-1 or 0-2 keeping them on our toes for the time being.

I suspected the game might have been cancelled. Firhill does not respond as well as , say, Celtic park to a Biblical deluge.

    Cheerio for now

PS I wanted the game to go ahead tonight ( I felt Aberdeen would drop points) but, as long as we win tomorrow, a six point lead, same games played, suits me just fine.
