Maribor slight favourites

2143

Celtic will face Maribor from Slovenia in the Champions League play-off round.  Maribor, of course, played a critical part in the death of Rangers, when they eliminated Ally MsCoist’s team from Europe a few months after Craig Whyte took over from Sir David Murray.  Having heard the 6-1 aggregate result against Legia, they are already celebrating the draw.

Maribor gave Wigan two hard games in last season’s Europa League, winning their home tie and causing the FA Cup holders more trouble than expected in England.  They progressed to the knock out round before going out 4-3 on aggregate to Sevilla – a feat Celtic would not have been capable of. Right now, they should be slight favourites.

If you missed it, today’s earlier article on Lady Luck, HMRC and money is here.

Join the Celtic Graves Society, Fergus McCann and many more at Kilsyth Cemetery on Saturday, 18 August, to commemorate the final resting place of the great Jimmy Quinn. Full details below or at Celtic Graves.

Murdo in ten men won the league and big Roy for scoring at ibrokes and seeing their scarves coming down as one and his celebration at scoring third goal at CP in 81.

    Thank you for your reply.

Any suggestions why I should care?

    ‘Cos I don’t.

Highs and Lows? Been there, done that since 1954.

Would not mind posting more frequently, but people like you are not worth the effort of an intelligent debate .

    Am I being unkind? Probably.

Do I care? Grow up, sunshine.

why dont you use a bit of the grey matter you possibly have in your dome.

I never compared May to any I mentioned. What I said was they were playing for Diddy teams, doing quite well, until we signed them.I dont think one of them had an International cap.We saw the promise, bought them, and they flourished.

Dont know why I am answering you.If you cannot make out my point from the 1st post, you are lost.Gie me peace, until you can understand the meaning of peoples posts.

On the big screens at Murrayfield on Wednesday before the game it showed Big Roy’s goal at CP against them when he charged down the right wing, tried to cross, the ball came back to him via a Jackson block and he lashed it into the roof of the net past McCloy. He then turned and runs down the touchline, in the days when they had half of the front of the main stand. They didn’t look happy as they lobbed many things at him!

    Different universe aye?

So your big idea – when we have limited funds – is to spend some on a striker, who by your own admission isn’t ready for cl, leaving us with 4 spfl level strikers & an Amido Balde? Cool. Suppose it’s all about opinions.

Boruc, David Hay, Billy McNeil, Jinky, Bobby Murdoch, Bertie Auld, Henrik, Alan Thompson, Paul Wilson, Lubo and Paul McStay.

They all skelped thems in different, but very effective, ways.

  23. EddieinCarmichael,

I have no idea, I am not a goalkeeping coach

My point is that some folks are blessed with loads of natural talent and squander it, whilst others have less natural talent but work hard, listen to feedback and become a success.

To me FF is a a guy with less natural talent than say Boruc, but has worked very hard to achieve his justified success, and I suspect will be Southampton’s No1 at Boruc’s expense

  28. Just a by the way, didn’t see the match.Tom Cairney who scored for Blackburn Rovers tonight.

    International career[edit]

He has a Scottish father and an English mother, meaning he is eligible to play for Scotland and England at international level. He has represented the Scotland national under-19 team.[21] Despite having played for Scotland at youth level, Cairney is still eligible to play for the England national team, and his Hull City captain George Boateng described him as being potentially a “huge asset to the national team of England”.[22] However, Cairney committed himself to Scotland and made his debut for the Scotland under-21 side against Sweden on 11 August 2010.

Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer:

“In the second half we didn’t play well with the ball but we sorted out the problems that Tom Cairney, especially, caused us in the first half.”

Who thinks Ronny D should stay on ? I honestly think we should sack him now and bring in a Manager who can work with the current squad of players. I am sure Ronny would eventually get things right in the long term but unfortunately we only have 2 weeks. We have been given a lifeline and the chance of £15-20 million lets grab it with both hands !
