McCoist at odds with hero Whyte

979

We all know Craig Whyte doesn’t get nearly enough credit for the wonderful job he is doing for Scottish football but his cause was not helped by rookie manager, Ally McCoist, who when asked today if Nikica Jelavic asked to leave Rangers said, “No he didn’t, not at all. I have a wonderful relationship with Nikica. He never said that.”

The Rangers manager then passed the buck onto the unfairly beleaguered club owner, telling STV, “We received a bid from Everton which Craig [Whyte] found acceptable. Therefore business was done.”

McCoist refused to take a manager’s responsibility for deciding who leaves the football club.  Craig Whyte made it clear to all concerned yesterday that Nikica Jelavic wanted to leave Rangers and there was no point keeping a player who didn’t want to be there.  Whyte needs the backing of everyone with the best interests of Scottish football at heart, including his manager.  The intrusive scrutiny he has been placed under in recent months will not help him achieve his objectives.

Whyte hasn’t put a foot wrong so far, we should all mind our own business and let him get on with his job. Eye on the prize, Craig.

The money from Ticketus was in place before Whyte purchased the orcs for a £1. And yes it is technically possible to borrow money against an asset he didn’t yet own.

A mate who is understands these things much better than me through expert knowledge and working practice explained it to me this morning:

It is possible for an individual or a company to apply for monies to invest in a company if they owned it, there is a term for it but cannot remember it. Basically, Whyte could have approached Ticketus asked for the money to invest in the orcs. They agreed and the money is set aside until he needs it. There is one stipulation the money can only be used for the sole purpose of what it was intended for.

I suspect that this may have happened and the finer detail in assuring Minty he had the money was the reason it took so long for the sale to go through for the paltry amount of a £1. Contracts exchanged and the £24 million handed over to Whyte.

The practice as I say am told is legitimate and as I say common practice.

    Keep the Faith!

I also understand from a media mole that they intend to chain themselves to the railings of Buckingham palace or to throw themselves in front of the Queen mothers horse if Newco aren’t allowed straight back in to the SPL.

Great to hear that Gold Coast Tom is on the mend..

Agree with Petec…let’s keep Izzy wrapped in cotton wool till he’s back to full fitness…

Only play him at Parkhead,on a good, even surface for the next few games…and leave him out against the Jam Tarts next week.

Tough on Joe Ledley having to baby-sit at left back, rather than being played in his first choice position…

I don’t think he gets enough recognition or appreciation from our support for his willingness to play in unfamiliar roles, rather than as a natural attacking midfielder, for the benefit of the team.

And without any grumbles….a Legend in the Making.

How come we didn’t get Johnnie Russell signing a pre-contract agreement in the window…he signed a 3y deal with Utd in June 2009. So he should be out of contract this summer, unless he has extended the contract sometime back.

Useful box-to-box player, bit like Pearson but perhaps with more end-product..

What you say about Gerry McNee in the early days may be true but my memory of him was savaging Celtic each day on his Radio Clyde morning sports news at the time Bill McNee was manager. On one occasion when he was in total conflict with Celtic, Celtic’s security were instructed to prevent him gaining entry to the Press Box. At that particular midweek game we lost to Aberdeen in an important game in the league run in. The next morning he ranted on along the lines of ‘If Celtic’s defence last night had been half as effective as their security who prevented me from entering the Press Box then they might still be in with a chance of winning the League.’

I have a deep seated dislike of the man and have bored posters on here in the past with the utterances of Gerry McNee which I will not go into again. Billy McNeill had an altercation with him after the game in Amsterdam when Charlie Nicholas and George McCluskey put Ajax to the sword in the European Cup. From that moment he became rabidly anti Celtic as far as I am Concerned. He is a Man Utd fan and Pat Crerand who is a relation of his told me that McNee is often down at OT. He is a mate of Sir Alex. Pat Crerand also asked me what the problem seemed to be between Gerry and Celtic. This took place at Ryan Giggs 1st testimonial game when my in-laws and I were in the OT hospitality suite and Pat joined us before and after the game and spent a lot of time with us. There were only about 6 Tims in the suite and we were in a party of 4. Pat enjoyed himself in the company of real football supporters and we enjoyed being in the company of a real Celtic and Man Utd legend. I would also like to point out that Pat never said a negative word about Gerry McNee.

  17. Just saw Neil Lennon’s interview on Sky and it has got me thinking,

How will history view our current manager?

Well, he is already ahead of everyone in what he has had to endure.

Maybe only Tommy Burns could empathise with the pressure in the year they bought nine.

He is no Jock Stein but he may yet be.

He is only 40 years old.

And today, he says Celtic do not need Rangers. Speaking as if he was you and I. Truly remarkable.

His signings could potentially earn the club 40 or 50 million while winning titles and trophies.

I echo Paul 67 today, many rivers to cross……

But what on earth do we have in charge of our club? A capable, genuine, knowledgable, passionate young man. A wonderful time to support Celtic FC.

I was told that after big Billy banjoed McNee, that was it with Celtic for him.

Put the boot in whenever he could – and that was my thoughts growing up listening to him too.

No doubts he was at some point a Hoops man- actually got the Jimmy McGrory book he wrote – but his attitude definitely changed.

McNee wrote a few Celtic books, but turned nasty after that incident.
